General Hospital Recap: Drew Starts Talking and Portia Gives Birth!

Comments

A new life came into the world on the Wednesday, July 15, episode of General Hospital when Portia (Brook Kerr) gave birth! Meanwhile, Drew (Cameron Mathison) regained the ability to talk, Curtis (Donnell Turner) turned to Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) for help, Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) was hit with another blow, someone snatched the black box Jack (Chris McKenna) and Nina (Cynthia Watros) sought, Anna (Finola Hughes) pumped Josslyn (Eden McCoy) for information, and Trina (Tabyana Ali) and Gio (Giovanni Mazza) had their musical showcase. Here’s everything that happened.

Baby on Board

After her argument with Jordan, Portia was alone when she went into labor. Jordan heard her screaming and returned to the house. Seeing that Portia was in active labor, Jordan called for an ambulance, but there wasn’t enough time to wait, so Portia walked Jordan through how to deliver the baby — a boy — herself. As Jordan handed a grateful Portia her newborn son.

Speak Now

When Michael dropped off Wiley and Amelia for a custody exchange, Willow informed her ex that his attempt to frame her for Jordan’s accident had failed. Michael denied trying to set her up and pointed out that Willow got exactly what she wanted by being framed: Chase running to her rescue. Huffing that she and Chase were just friends, Willow seethed that Michael just hated that she was thriving and no longer dependent on him.

Down the hall, Drew was flexing his hands and trying to move his feet off the wheelchair footrest when Amelia and Wiley appeared at the door. Bringing one finger up to his mouth, Drew signaled the kids to keep his gains in mobility a secret. The kids returned to the living room and said goodbye to Michael.

Back in the bedroom, Drew regained his ability to talk. As anger simmered underneath, Drew slowly rasped out a word: “Willow.”

Pool Party

At the Metro Court pool, Stella told Curtis that Trina’s showcase was happening that night. Curtis was disappointed that his daughter had kept the news from him but understood Trina’s reasons for wanting space. Stella assured him that the family would start to heal once the baby arrived, but Curtis felt the looming trial was going to make any peace between him and Portia short-lived.

At another table, Valentin told Carly that he wanted to buy back Wyndemere, but his assets were frozen, so it would take time. She offered to let him stay at the hotel indefinitely, but he didn’t want to take a handout. Britt interrupted them, raging against Carly for renting out her room and donating whatever belongings the police hadn’t confiscated. When Britt snapped that Jason would have wanted Carly to help her, Carly snarled that Britt only had herself to blame for wrecking her life.

While Carly and Britt snarked at one another, Valentin had stepped over to the bar. Curtis approached and thanked Valentin for his help in saving him and Jordan the night of the crash. In return, Valentin thanked Curtis for not turning him in to the police. Curtis then asked if Valentin recalled seeing anything that night that might help identify the other driver. Remembering that Charlotte and Danny were also on the road that night, Valentin lied and said he never saw the other car. After that, Valentin said goodbye to Carly with a very public kiss.

Stella approached Britt, who mentioned she was hoping to get her job back at G.H., Stella mused that the doctor may have burned that bridge after her latest disappearance, then rejoined Curtis. He shared that Valentin had saved him and Jordan the night of the accident and was bummed that Val couldn’t place Isaiah at the scene. Stella encouraged Curtis to focus on the baby and let the police focus on the accident.

Hide and Seek

Knowing that Valentin was suspicious of their presence at Wyndemere, Jack and Nina searched the house for the black box before Valentin returned. When Jack had a dizzy spell, Nina scolded him for pushing himself too hard and left him in the living room while she continued to search. After she returned empty-handed, Jack shared that the box had an infrared tag. While he hadn’t wanted to draw attention by requesting to borrow a scanner from the WSB, he’d have to get his hands on one so they could find the box and get the evidence against Drew that Nina was so desperate for. As they exited, Jack and Nina bickered about the attitude he was giving her and her constant reminders that she’d saved his life.

Unbeknownst to Jack and Nina, a mysterious figure had entered Wyndemere and hid until they left. Once the house was clear, the person pulled a black case from a concealed space in what appeared to be the castle’s basement.

Tortured Agents Society

Anna visited Joss in the hospital, wanting to know everything Josslyn knew about Cassius and Cullum’s partnership. Josslyn told her that Cassius claimed not to have known about Anna’s kidnapping until after the fact. Anna wondered if he had been telling the truth. Joss wanted to think so and felt there were parts of Cassius that were good. But he was still responsible for everything that happened to Anna, Joss said, which is why it was worth destroying his reputation in the bargain she made with the WSB in exchange for Jason and Valentin’s freedom.

Anna complimented Josslyn on the maneuver, but warned Joss that she now owed the bureau a favor and might not like what they wanted in return. Before Anna left, Josslyn conceded that she didn’t know how involved Cassius was in the overall plan, particularly in torturing Anna, but it seemed to be Cullum’s doing.

Out in the hallway, Anna ran into Britt and said she’d just been talking about Britt’s father. Then, noticing Peter standing behind Britt, Anna added, “And your brother.”

Songbird

Brook Lynn, Trina, and Gio gathered at a recording studio for the showcase. Gio calmed Trina down when her nerves began to get the best of her, and they successfully performed a song. One of the A&R execs, Simon, wanted to pair Gio with another artist, but Brook Lynn insisted that the showcase was about Trina. Then, Simon gave Trina some notes, encouraging her to let loose on a second take of her song.

Emma and Kai waited at the pool for word on Trina and Gio’s showcase. Kai hoped Trina would be able to put aside the drama with her family and focus on singing. Emma confided that she hoped the showcase would draw Gio back to the violin, because his passion for music was taken from him when he discovered the truth about his parentage.

Later, Carly asked Emma if she was glad that Anna was back home and grimaced when Emma mentioned how helpful Valentin had been to her grandmother.
