General Hospital Recap: Drew Accuses Michael, Jason’s Explosive Rescue, Anna Interrogates Alexis and More!
The tension was so thick in the September 9 episode of General Hospital that you could cut it with a knife! Drew (Cameron Mathison) finally regained consciousness and told Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) who he thought tried to kill him. Meanwhile, Anna (Finola Hughes) questioned Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) as Curtis (Donnell Turner) helped Michael (Rory Gibson) find Jacinda (Paige Herschell) so he would have an alibi. Plus, Jack (Chris McKenna) had a warning for Lulu (Alexis Havins) regarding Charlotte (Bluesy Burke), and Jason (Steve Burton), Britt (Kelly Thiebaud), Josslyn (Eden McCoy), and Vaughn (Bryce Durfee)’s adventure at the Five Poppies ended with a bang! Here’s how it all shook out…
Waking Life
Drew regained consciousness, and his first thought was of Willow, asking Liz if she was there. The nurse informed him that Willow was with Scout and asked if he knew what had happened to him. Drew insisted that he had to see Willow, but then Portia entered with an update on the patient’s condition. Drew quickly demanded another doctor. Portia politely informed him she could put that request in motion, grimly adding that until someone was assigned, he was under her care.
When Portia returned to her office, she was taken aback to find Jacinda sitting behind her desk. When she urged the escort to leave town, Jacinda revealed that Drew had paid her $100,000 to stay away, but added that she wasn’t very good with money and needed a top-up. She’d hoped to get it from Drew, but since he had been shot, she was turning to Portia and Nina. Portia turned her down and reminded her that if she said anything about them hiring her to drug the congressman, she’d also get herself in trouble. “So much for women helping women,” Jacinda grumbled. Portia suggested that if anyone asked, she could stay in the clear by claiming the drugs belonged to Drew.

Perfect Timing
Anna sent Dante to the hospital to interview Drew, and she and Chase remained to speak with Alexis. Once Diane arrived to serve as Alexis’s counsel, Anna began recording and asked Alexis to detail her movements the night of Drew’s shooting. Alexis went all the way back to spending the day in court with Stella’s arraignment, and when Anna remarked on that investigation, Alexis vented about Drew taking revenge on people by targeting their loved ones. Anna steered the conversation back around to when she was served with the restraining order. Diane tried to object, wondering what that had to do with Alexis’s movements, and Anna argued it spoke to her relationship with the victim. Diane groused that they’d come to make a statement, but this felt more like a cross-examination.
Alexis admitted that she had been upset about the restraining order but insisted she’d only tried to take legal recourse. She then returned to her movements, noting that she got home around 9 p.m. Chase questioned her specificity, but Alexis said that she’d just finished a call and offered up her phone records. He wondered if anyone was at home to corroborate this, and Alexis said there wasn’t, but that Curtis had soon stopped by to check on Stella’s case. Then, after he left, Kristina came by with Ava. Noting Chase’s suspicious reaction, Alexis claimed that she had been trying to broker a peace treaty between the two women, and they were there for hours. She informed Anna she could ask Dante about it because when she came back from throwing out the trash, he was there questioning Kristina and Ava.

Diane finally announced that her client had been more than cooperative and switched off Anna’s recorder, declaring the interview over. Anna thanked them, but as they left her office, warned she might have further questions. Once they were alone again, Chase admitted Alexis had a decent alibi, and Anna agreed that the whole Kristina/Ava thing was so implausible it might actually be true. She took Alexis’s photo down from the top of the suspect list and replaced it with a pic of Curtis.
The Blame Game
Dante arrived at the hospital to question Drew, and Portia asked him to keep it brief, as the patient was still recovering. Dante entered to ask the congressman what he remembered about last night. “Getting shot in the back is a very hard thing to forget,” Drew managed to growl. Pressed for details, Drew related coming home in the rain and having a drink, then getting Willow’s engagement ring out of the safe before getting shot in the back. Falling forward was the last thing he could remember. Dante wondered if he’d seen anyone outside the house, and Drew said he hadn’t.
When Dante asked if he’d closed the safe, Drew suddenly worried that someone had stolen Willow’s ring. Dante assured him it was still there, but wondered if anyone had stolen something else from the safe. Recalling the documents he’d used to blackmail Portia, Drew tersely informed the detective that there were classified papers in there, and the PCPD did not have his permission to go through his safe. When the congressman cut things short by declaring he was tired, Drew asked one last question: Who did he think had a motive to harm him? Drew angrily pointed the finger at Michael.

Hiring Squad
At the Port Charles Grill, Michael admitted to Curtis that he knew he was at the top of the suspect list. Curtis urged him to get an alibi, and Michael responded that he actually did have one, but needed Curtis’s help to find her. Seeing a picture of the woman in question, Curtis told him Jacinda’s name and also the name of the modeling agency she worked for, which was actually a cover for an escort service. After a call from Portia reporting that Drew had woken up, Curtis took off, leaving Michael to search for the agency on his phone.
After exiting Drew’s hospital room, Dante informed Liz he wanted to post an officer to monitor the congressman. As Curtis arrived, Dante asked if he’d seen Michael, and he sent him towards the Grill. After the detective left, Curtis asked Liz if Drew could have visitors and was told to go for it, so he popped in. Drew glared at his newest visitor, who glibly remarked that he’d heard someone had shot him. “I’ve got every reason to think it was you,” Drew hissed. “But don’t worry — I’m putting the blame on Michael.”

Having told the agency she’d take the job — and any others they might have for her — Jacinda headed to the Grill, where she recognized Michael. They introduced themselves, and after confirming she’d heard about Congressman Cain being shot, he explained that he might need her to be his alibi for the night in question. Just then, Dante appeared, eager to question Michael.
Shades of Gray
Lulu brought Charlotte to Bobbie’s for a drink before her punishment began, deciding that the teen would take full care of Outback before piling on more tasks, including yard work and writing a letter of apology to the camp director. Charlotte felt Lulu was being too harsh, but her mom reminded her of the time she put a snake in Ava’s purse, saying it set a dangerous precedent that she could do whatever she wanted without facing consequences. When Jack Brennan arrived, Lulu sent her daughter off to give the dog a bath. On her way out, Charlotte got up in Brennan’s face to declare: “Everyone says that you’re the hero and my dad’s the villain. I don’t buy it. Not for one second.”
Sitting down with Jack, Lulu apologized for her daughter’s outburst. He explained that he needed her help because he wanted Charlotte to visit Valentin in Steinmauer on a supervised visit, but Lulu immediately put her foot down and said that would never happen. He promised they would be completely safe, but she refused to let him use her daughter in his games. He briefly stepped away to take a call. Lulu overheard some of it and asked him who was “in the clear,” but he reminded her that was classified information. When Brennan mentioned that Charlotte could be valuable to certain people, Lulu worried her daughter was in danger. He promised he would protect her, but wanted Lulu to understand that Charlotte’s life is very different from Rocco’s.

Outside, Charlotte sat with Rocco and Outback, complaining about how Jack had put her father in prison. When Rocco suggested that maybe the crimes Valentin committed had something to do with it, she countered that unlike his dad’s work with the WSB, in the world of the WSB, it was hard to tell the good guys from the bad guys. Charlotte also admitted that she had trouble fitting in with other kids because her life had been so different. While she didn’t want to live on the run, there were things she did miss about her old life, like having more independence… and her dad.
A Narrow Escape
In Croatia, Britt begged Pascal not to leave her to die, arguing she was the only one who understood the research they were working on. Pascal countered that there were plenty of other people who could do the work, and with less hassle. She cried that she knew she’d gone against “his” wishes, but didn’t believe he would have her killed. She then paused, realizing with horror that Pascal would, and accused him of acting on his own. Unbothered, Pascal left Britt, who looked desperately at the ankle monitor on her leg that was rigged to explode.
Josslyn cold-cocked the thug choking Jason, and Vaughn asked how many people stood in the way of them reaching safety. Jason admitted he didn’t know because he’d sneaked in, but warned it would not be an easy escape. He shot Josslyn a look and said they had a lot to talk about later, then took off to go back for Britt. Vaughn and Joss agreed that if one of them went down during their escape, the other would keep going.

Jason found Britt trying to get her ankle monitor off, and she updated him that she was going to blow up in 21 minutes. Though she urged him not to risk his life to save hers, Jason went to work on the bomb, insisting that they were in this together, for good or bad. He managed to remove the device, and a relieved Britt joined him as they fled the lab, running into Pascal and two goons in the corridor. A shot rang out, and one of the thugs went down, shot from behind by Vaughn. Jason subdued the other gunman, but Pascal disappeared in the chaos. However, there was no time to worry about that because the place was about to blow! Outside, everyone took cover as the explosion leveled the facility, and as the smoke cleared, everyone seemed to be fine. Britt exchanged a charged look with Jason and said there was something she’d been meaning to tell him, finally snarking, “I really don’t like your tattoos.”

Will Britt let Jason take her back to Port Charles with him? Can Michael persuade Jacinda to be his alibi for the night of Drew’s shooting? Will Curtis find himself in the hot seat next, or will Drew be able to direct the cops straight at Michael? Share your predictions and theories about the latest GH storylines in the comments below!
