General Hospital Recap: Anna Grills Britt, Cody Comes Clean, Josslyn Feels Guilty
Some tough conversations took place on the Thursday, July 16, episode of General Hospital. Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) challenged Josslyn (Eden McCoy), Anna (Finola Hughes) gave Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) the third degree, Gio (Giovanni Mazza) and Emma (Braedyn Bruner) pondered the future, Cody (Josh Kelly) had to deliver some upsetting news to James (temporarily played by Easton Winn), and Stella (Vernee Watson) urged Curtis (Donnell Turner) and Portia (Brook Kerr) not to waste a golden opportunity. Here’s how it all went down.
Act of Contrition
While visiting Josslyn at the hospital, Obrecht confronted her fellow captive about pinning the blame for the disaster at Spoon Island on Cassius rather than Cullum. Standing by her statement, Josslyn said that Cassius had only wanted them both to think that he was going to stop Cullum. She also lied and said that Cassius had been the one who shot her. When Liesl refused to accept her account, Josslyn played up Cassius’s betrayal and manipulation, urging Liesl to let it go. Wishing Josslyn a speedy recovery, a dejected Liesl exited.

Once alone, Josslyn recalled how Cassius had promised her that he wouldn’t kill her. Full of regret, she looked up toward the ceiling and whispered an apology to Cassius for lying
Go Your Own Way
Meanwhile, in the privacy of a hospital stairwell, Anna asked if Britt had known Cassius had held her captive at Wyndemere. Britt denied having any knowledge of her brother’s doings or that he’d show up in Port Charles. Anna blasted Britt for not telling anyone that Cassius was impersonating Nathan, so Britt explained that she’d been forced to go along with Sidwell and Cullum’s plans because they made her believe she was dying.
Anna stated that Faison had taught Cassius all his tricks and proposed that Cassius knew what mind games to play to get inside her head. Britt attempted to get Anna to understand that they’d both been manipulated and now they had to move forward, but that backfired when Anna alleged that Britt and Cassius were both just like their father: someone who preys on human weaknesses. After Anna declared that she refused to be deceived by Britt the way she’d been by Cassius, Britt agreed it was best that they stay out of each other’s way.

Leap of Faith
Following their musical showcase, Trina and Gio met Kai and Emma at the pool to share the exciting news that they’d been offered a contract as a musical duo. They added that the label wanted them to open for one of its more established bands, and Emma seemed bothered by the news. As the two couples celebrated with champagne, Trina received a call from Aunt Stella that her mother had given birth.
After Trina and Kai headed to the hospital, Emma questioned whether the music contract was something Gio really wanted or if he was just doing it for Trina. Gio conceded that he wasn’t sure if he wanted to be a professional musician, but he’d spend the rest of his life wondering if he didn’t take advantage of the opportunity. He then serenaded Emma as the couple shared a romantic slow dance.

Great Expectations
Back at G.H., Jordan explained to a grateful Stella how she ended up delivering Portia’s baby, saying it was a beautiful moment she’d never forget. Next, Stella tracked down Isaiah and shared the happy news. Hopeful for the family’s future, Stella noted how amazing it was that Portia and Jordan worked together to deliver the baby, but urged Isaiah not to interrupt right now as Curtis was with her and the baby.
In Portia’s hospital room, Curtis met his son for the first time. He and Portia shared a tender moment with their newborn, and she apologized that he couldn’t be present for the birth. As they were discussing a name, Isaiah entered, much to Curtis’s dismay. Isaiah and Portia gushed over the baby before an annoyed Curtis asked the other man to leave. Isaiah gracefully stepped aside, even congratulating Curtis as he exited.

Later, Trina shared a warm moment with her parents when she met her baby brother. Isaiah expressed his gratitude to Jordan, and she hoped that maybe her delivering the baby was a sign of good things to come for them all. Then, after Aunt Stella had her turn to swoon over the newborn, she informed Portia and Curtis that the birth was a wake-up call for them both to put aside their animosity.
Shooting the Messenger
At the stables, Cody anxiously informed Molly that he would be the one to break the news to James that Cassius was an impostor. Cody was prepared for his nephew to hate him for being the messenger, but Molly reassured Cody that telling the little boy the truth just proved how much he loved James.
When Felica arrived with a subdued James, she explained how James hadn’t wanted to do much since learning about his father’s death, but he made an exception for Cody and the horses. Cody brought James into the tack room to chat, and James expressed his frustration that nobody would talk to him about his father’s death. Reminding James of what his father had said at the batting cages (aka that James would hear bad things about him), Cody gently told James that the “bad thing” Nathan did was pretending to be his father. James spat that Cody was a liar.

Liesl arrived in time to hear James yelling at Cody from the other room. James ran into his Oma’s arms, and Liesl sadly confirmed that Cody was telling the truth. When Liesl listed all the people in James’s life who loved him, James blurted out that he didn’t love Cody anymore and never wanted to see him again.
