General Hospital Comings & Goings: James Temporarily Recast With Easton Winn

Comments

James West is going to look a little different on General Hospital in the July 16 episode as Easton Winn temporarily takes over the role from Gary James Fuller, who was unable to work after injuring himself riding his bike.

What Happened to Gary James Fuller?

Stepping into the role of Nathan (Ryan Paevey) and Maxie’s (Kirsten Storms) son marks Winn’s daytime debut. It’s also seemingly the beginning of his acting career, as he has no IMDb page listing any additional credits at this time.

James was born back in 2018 and was played by a series of twins until Fuller took over in April 2023. In his very first episode, Fuller joined TV sister Georgie (Lily Fisher) and grandmother Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) to perform a magic trick at the Nurses’ Ball.

James was born after the death of his father, so he was happy when “Nathan” came back to Port Charles in September 2025 and was finally able to get to know his dad. In March 2026, it was revealed that this man was actually his twin brother, Cassius Faison, who had been impersonating his late sibling, but James remained blissfully unaware of that fact.

So when “Nathan” said an emotional good-bye with James in the July 1 episode, assuring the boy he loved him, the kid didn’t understand why his dad was suddenly leaving town. James had no idea that he was really saying farewell to his uncle, not his father.

At the time that the July 16 episode of GH was taped, Fuller was unable to work because he had seriously injured himself. “What started as a ride on my mini bike turned into a trip to the trauma center, two surgeries, and almost a week in the hospital,” read the message on his June 5 Instagram post. “Definitely not how I planned to spend my week.”

As he recovered, Fuller appreciated all the support he received from fans and friends. “My General Hospital family checked in with FaceTime calls, messages, and encouragement,” he reported before adding, “I’m home now, healing up, and already looking forward to getting back to baseball, racing, filming, and all the things I love to do.”
