Nathan and Maxie Shared Their First Kiss on General Hospital and Other Big Moments from September 15

In 1998, General Hospital's Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) and Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson) shared their first kiss. The momentous smooch took place at the boxcar, where Lucky had been staying. There, Lucky was deeply touched when Liz gifted him an acoustic guitar, which she had personalized for him. She persuaded him to play her the song he had written for her, which was aptly titled "Elizabeth." After, they wound up in close physical proximity to one another and their feelings for one another finally boiled over into a sweet first kiss. He then walked Liz home.

In 1999, Jacob Young ended his first run as Rick Forrester on Bold and Beautiful, which had kicked off in 1997. After Young's departure, he went on to play Lucky Spencer on General Hospital from 2000-03, and JR Chandler on All My Children from 2003-10. He then returned to B&B in 2011, after AMC was canceled. Reflecting on his early days on the show (clips of which had been used in flashback form in the present day on B&B) in a 2012 interview with Soap Opera Digest, Young noted, "I had that longer, floppy hair [laughs]. But what’s really weird is seeing how green I was at the time. B&B was my first soap, so I was so new, and it’s a little odd to go back and see my acting from then."

In 2010, Jack Snyder (Michael Park) and Carly Tenney Snyder (Maura West) married for the final time on As The World Turns, which was nearing its series finale. During the ceremony, Carly spoke of how falling for Jack had made love "a permanent state of being" in her life, and while she acknowledged her past mistakes and admitted that she would likely make more, she vowed, "I will never again forget that the truest, purest part of me is you, my true north, my soulmate, my best friend."

In 2014, future spouses Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) and Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) shared their first kiss on General Hospital under decidedly unusual circumstances. Despite the connection brewing between the duo, who were roommates at the time, Maxie decided to charge ahead with marrying her odious Australian beau, Levi Dunkleman, when he was at risk of being deported. On the wedding day, though, Nathan busted Levi as a fraud — he was actually the son of the evil man who had once been engaged to Maxie's mom, Felicia, and he had been playing Maxie the whole time! Levi and his father, Peter Harrington, took Maxie and her BFF Lulu Falconeri hostage, but Nathan managed to shoot Peter dead. Then, Levi charged at Nathan, so a quick-thinking Maxie stabbed him in the back with a dagger, killing him! Maxie and Nathan then smooched for the first time ... right over the dead bodies!

In 2023, Kassie DePaiva returned to General Hospital as Blair Cramer, her One Life to Live alter ego, who she had previously played on GH in 2012. During this comeback stint, Blair was revealed to be the much-talked-about ex-wife of Michael E. Knight's Martin Gray. The actress admitted to Soap Opera Digest that she was caught off-guard when Executive Producer Frank Valentini, who had also been her boss at OLTL, reached out to her about a GH comeback so many years after her last appearance, but it was a call she was thrilled to get. "I’m grateful and I’m happy and it was wonderful to be on set again and to get to see so many people that I’ve worked with," she said, adding, "I was really thrilled to find out that I was going to be working with Michael Knight and the icing on the cake was that I also got to work with Jane Elliot [Tracy], who is just one of my favorite people of all time and one of my favorite actresses.” The last time viewers had seen Blair was on the short-lived 2013 OLTL reboot, in which she married Todd. Explained DePaiva of the reveal that Blair had apparently subsequently married and divorced Martin, "The Todd issue is not addressed,” DePaiva shares. “I hope our little One Life to Live fan base isn’t upset by that. But I think, knowing Todd and Blair, something happened — she probably thinks he’s dead and he’s not or something. I don’t think Blair would ever give up on him.”
