Kirsten Storms Made Her Daytime Debut on Days of Our Lives and Other Big Soap Moments From August 5

In 1994, All My Children’s Mona Kane Tyler passed away following the real-life death of her portrayer, Frances Heflin (r.) , an original cast member of the show. Mona was the mother of Erica Kane (Susan Lucci) and grandmother to Kendall and Bianca and the widow of Charles Tyler. In 2004, Lucci spoke of her longtime co-star to Soap Opera Digest, saying, "I miss her still and always think of her. She was such a fabulous friend and mentor and influence on me, a wonderful actress and a wonderful human being. Fra had such a great, wicked sense of humor, which was so adorable and so unexpected from her."

In 1999, Kirsten Storms made her daytime debut as Belle Black, the daughter of Marlena Evans and John Black, on Days of Our Lives. Storms remained with the show until 2004, and joined the General Hospital cast the following year as Maxie Jones, while the role of Belle was assumed by Martha Madison (also in 2004). The actress had grown up in a DAYS-watching household and had had her heart set on working on a soap from the early days of her career, which kicked off in her native Florida when she was only 5 years old. "One of the first agents I got, I told, ‘When I grow up, I’m going to be on a soap opera,’” she told Soap Opera Digest in 2000. " 'You can get me commercials and stuff now, but what I really want to do someday is be on a soap opera.' They were like, 'Oh, little Kirsten, how cute, she’s only 5 and wants to be on a soap opera.' No one took me seriously. But I knew, even though I hadn’t actually ever watched one, it was something I always wanted to do.”

In 2002, Passions star Josh Ryan Evans passed away at the age of 20. Tragically, his death occurred in real-life on the same day that his character, Timmy (pictured with Juliet Mills as Tabitha) died on the show.
