Five Things That Happened On December 4 In Soap History

In 1981, the prime-time soap Falcon Crest debuted on CBS. Created by Earl Hamner, Jr., the show was set against the backdrop of Northern California and centered on the the battle for control of Falcon Crest Wines. The show tapped Oscar-winner Jane Wyman to play the series lead, Angela Channing, and the actress drove the drama for most of the run. FC's original cast also included Robert Foxworth, Lorenzo Lamas, Billy R. Moses, Jamie Rose, Abby Dalton and Susan Sullivan. With Dallas as its lead-in, FC debuted to big ratings and remained a top 20 show for its first four seasons. FC went off the air in 1990.

In 2006, Simone Torres’s (Terri Ivens) body was discovered on All My Children by Babe Carey; she was the first victim of the Satin Slayer serial killer, who was ultimately revealed to be Zach Slater's father, Alexander Cambias, who also offed Erin Lavery and tried to do in Dixie, Babe, Zarf and Kendall. Portrayer Ivens had been on AMC since 2001.

In 2007 on General Hospital, Lucky Spencer (Greg Vaughan) told Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) that he had informed Liz of his decision to continue raising Jake as his own son, despite having learned that Jason was the boy's biological father. He added that he wanted his boys, Aiden and Jake, to get to know Sam. Sam worried about how Liz would feel about that. Later, Lucky paid a visit to Jason, and told him to stay away from Liz and Jake.

In 2017, General Hospital’s Sam (Kelly Monaco) and Drew (Billy Miller, l.) reeled from the realization that Drew wasn’t actually Jason, and that the real Jason (Steve Burton) was back in Port Charles after Andre Maddox spilled the beans about his role in tampering with the men's identities. Sam tried to keep her feelings for Jason at bay, but ultimately, she and Drew split over her inability to truly get over Jason.

In 2020, Liam Spencer was in for quite the shock on Bold and Beautiful when he learned that he had not, in fact, witnessed his wife, Hope Logan, in a passionate kiss with Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) — it had actually been a mannequin that looked like Hope that the unwell Thomas had been smooching! Thomas had collapsed and been hospitalized, and Liam angrily confronted Hope for destroying their marriage. She was baffled. When Liam insisted that he had seen her kissing Thomas, she gazed at the mannequin and flashed back to Thomas saying he wouldn't kiss "it" anymore. She then revealed to Liam that Thomas had actually been kissing her inanimate likeness.
