Sneak Peek: General Hospital And Young and Restless Stars Face Off On ABC’s Celebrity Family Feud

The 11th season of Celebrity Family Feud, hosted by Steve Harvey, kicked off earlier this month — and soap fans will want to tune in on Thursday, July 31, to see the matchup between cast members from General Hospital and Young and Restless!

Representing Team GH were captain Finola Hughes (Anna), Donnell Turner (Curtis), Rena Sofer (Lois), Tanisha Harper (Jordan), and Maurice Benard (Sonny). In the celebrity editions of the game show, the stars compete to win money for charity, and the Port Charles contingent was playing for The Nature Conservancy.

GH team leader Hughes told TV Insider that “answering questions in a public format is like, my biggest fear,” so her kids put her through her paces with some sample Family Feud questions to help get her ready for the big show. “I was hoping that I wouldn’t swear,” she shared. “And also, you don’t want your own stupidity to hold up the whole group. You don’t want to be the one who is the idiot. That was what I was afraid of: I didn’t want to let the team down.”

Once everyone got on set and it was time for the two soaps to go head to head, Hughes found all those nerves slipping away. “Steve Harvey makes me laugh, and he made the nerves go away because he was really, really sweet,” she explained. “He came over and was saying how all his family would just love to be there to see the people from the soaps. He shook all our hands and was just like, ‘This means a lot, seeing all the people from the soaps.’ He made us feel very special. But there was just so much going on and everybody was really friendly and really fun, so that atmosphere makes you relax a little bit more.”

“I was a big fan of Family Feud growing up,” Benard shared on Instagram. “I used to watch it with my father. Going on was kind of out of my comfort zone. We were treated incredible, and we all had such a great time!”

On the other side of the stage, Team Y&R was led by Joshua Morrow (Nick), with Michelle Stafford (Phyllis), Lauralee Bell (Christine), Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea), and Bryton James (Devon) playing for Entertainment Community Fund’s Southern California Wildfires Fund.

“Thank you, Steve Harvey and the whole Celebrity Family Feud team for making us feel so welcome in Atlanta!” enthused Bell on Instagram. “Love our Y&R family, and we couldn’t have done it without our own [Y&R publicist] Matt Kane. Extra fun hanging with our friends at GH!”

Despite being on opposing sides, Hughes was excited to be on the game show with Stafford, who is one of her closest friends in real life. “Oh, then it was game on,” she teased. “There was a lot of competition between the two shows. But I traveled there with her and Lauralee on the plane, and it’s just fun because we’ve been friends for a long time.”

In this first preview clip, Stafford (who also played GH’s Nina from 2014-19) faces off against Turner. Harvey asks, “Name something your mate’s booty has in common with a basketball.” Stafford tries, but Turner is just a hair faster on the buzzer and gets to offer his answer. It matches the number one response from the studio audience, and the actor declares that the GH team is going to play instead of pass.

The next clip follows up later in that round where the GH team is down two strikes, and it’s back to Tuner again to try and come up with another response to the same question: “Name something your mate’s booty has in common with a basketball.” This time, the actor’s response causes Hughes next to him to cover her face as she cracks up, and Harvey to put his cards down so he can applaud it and then high-five Turner.

The final preview we have for you is another round that kicks off with Bell and Sofer taking center stage to answer the prompt: “Name an occupation in which someone with a baby face might have a hard time.” Sofer seems to struggle to come up with a response, but Bell quickly buzzes in with an answer that matches the top answer from the audience.
