General Hospital Recap: Tracy Meets Monica’s Sister Ronnie, Ric Escapes and Obrecht Sees Nathan!

Comments

The September 29 episode of General Hospital was full of uncomfortable encounters. Tracy (Jane Elliot) was stunned to meet Monica’s sister, Ronnie (Erika Slezak); Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) and Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) were reunited with Nathan (Ryan Paevey); and Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) and Felicia (Kristina Wagner) brought James (Gary James Fuller) to meet his father. Meanwhile, Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) and Nina (Cynthia Watros) continued to clash, Michael (Rory Gibson) introduced Jacinda (Paige Herschell) to Kristina (Kate Mansi) and Molly (Kristen Vaganos), and Ric (Rick Hearst) prepared to turn the tables on Ava (Maura West) and Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn)! Here are all the details…

Uninvited Guest

Tracy demanded to know who the woman in the Quartermaine crypt was, and she introduced herself as Monica’s younger sister, Veronica Bard, here to pay her respects. “But please, just call me Ronnie,” she smiled. Frowning, Tracy remembered her name from when she’d had Monica investigated back in the day. Ronnie was taken aback that her sister had never mentioned her, and Tracy wondered what she was after. Ronnie admitted that she and her sibling had been estranged for a long time, but claimed that everything changed when she received a letter from Monica. Ronnie explained that she and her sister had been corresponding for the last year or so. Tracy wanted proof, suspicious that a sister showed up suddenly after 50 years, “circling like a vulture.” Offended, Ronnie insisted she didn’t want a thing from Tracy or her sister. She simply wanted to pay her respects and went to the crypt because the service was private.

Tracy ordered her off the property, but Ronnie wanted to meet the family that her sister had told her about. Tracy insisted that Monica hadn’t mentioned her once and clearly wanted nothing to do with her, but Ronnie argued that they were separated as children and placed into the foster care system, so they were estranged by circumstance, not choice. She added that Monica had moved on and had no room in her new life for her sibling, but Ronnie had never asked her sister for anything. Tracy applauded her story and declared she didn’t believe a word of it.

“Monica Bard may have been your sister, but the little girl you remember grew up to be Dr. Monica Quartermaine,” Tracy declared. “She was a skilled surgeon. She was a pillar of her community. Too busy helping others to bother to look back. So you hear me when I tell you, Ronnie… there is no room for you in her family’s future.” Ronnie bitterly told Tracy that Monica had described her pretty accurately, but left out how cold she is. Tracy shot her a steely look and again demanded she get off the property.

On her way out, Ronnie stopped to warn: “You know, Tracy? Masks have a tendency to slip. And I suspect that you may not be entitled to everything you think you are. My sincere condolences on this very sad day.”

Family Reunion

Spinelli and Felicia tried to keep things light with James over a meal at Bobbie’s, but the kid was clearly in a funk. Felicia sent him to the counter for dessert and noted that James was missing his mother. Spinelli added that they were about to blow up his life even more, and neither of them knew how to explain Nathan’s return to him. Spinelli wished that Maxie were there, and Felicia promised that they would do it together.

Returning to the table, James worried something had happened to his mom, but they assured him she was fine. Spinelli awkwardly explained that there had been a mistake and his father was alive, but James didn’t believe him. Felicia backed him up and said that James’s dad was in the hospital right now after being in an accident, and he didn’t remember where he had been. James wondered if his dad remembered him, and Felicia explained that Nathan died before he was born, so they’d never met. Spinelli assured James that he didn’t have to meet his father until he was ready.

Obrecht and Britt joined Nina at the hospital and began snapping that they weren’t interested in reconciling with each other. Nina ordered them to stop and warned that they’d need each other because Nathan was alive. Obrecht was skeptical, but after hearing that a DNA test proved it was true, she insisted on seeing her son.

Nathan introduced himself to Willow, his nurse, who introduced herself as his niece. She opened up about learning Nina was her mom, and added that his mother saved her life with a bone marrow transplant. As Willow exited his room, there was a tense moment as she passed Nina, who was on the way in. Obrecht was stunned to see her son and broke down in tears, rushing into his arms. Britt looked decidedly less delighted. Obrecht asked where he’d been, but Nathan didn’t remember anything after being shot by Faison. Britt interrupted as Obrecht was telling Nathan all about James, insisting that the patient needed some rest. Obrecht urged Britt to give her brother a hug, so Britt stiffly embraced him and muttered, “Welcome back.” He smiled at her as they left the room, and once in the hall, Britt looked uncomfortable. Then, James emerged from the elevator with Spinelli and Felicia, and she looked really uncomfortable.

An Unexpected Twist

While going over the evidence regarding Drew’s shooting, Anna got a call, and when Justine arrived, the commissioner filled her in that she had cancelled her chat with Alexis because the ballistics came back and pointed to a new suspect. She reported that markings on the bullets match a gun owned by Edward Quartermaine. Justine noted that Michael and Tracy were two suspects living in the Quartermaine mansion, but Anna wasn’t convinced either of them was responsible. Going over the suspects, they couldn’t really eliminate anyone, and Justine even suggested Willow and Nina could be in on it together. Anna wanted to get a search warrant for the Quartermaine estate, but quietly, so the family couldn’t close ranks and cover anything up.

At the nurses’ station, Nina haltingly tried to talk to Willow and thanked her for helping take care of Nathan. She hoped they could call a truce, but Willow coldly informed her mother she wanted nothing to do with her. Nina accepted that, but reminded Willow they were each other’s alibis. Willow pulled her mother aside to hiss that Nina was the one who didn’t really have an alibi, so Nina pointed out that Willow was the one with the strongest motive.

No-Chance Encounter

Kristina and Molly stopped by the Quartermaine mansion to offer their sympathies to Michael about Monica, and he introduced them to Jacinda. They made awkward small talk until Molly wondered how Jacinda knew Michael, and Kristina borrowed her brother to question him about his “date.” She informed Michael that Jacinda was the escort who spent the night with Drew when he was high on ketamine and feared he was her next mark. Michael assured her he had things under control. Meanwhile, Molly asked Jacinda if she was dating Michael, and Jacinda said they were getting to know each other. Kristina grabbed Molly to leave, and Jacinda admitted to Michael that she doubted the women bought their story.

Outside Bobbie’s, Molly told Kristina that it was no coincidence that Jacinda was there when they visited Michael. Kristina reminded Molly that this wouldn’t be the first sex worker Michael had dated (the late Abby Haver being the first), but Molly insisted that Michael orchestrated this because she works for the DA’s office, and he was establishing his alibi. Meanwhile, at the mansion, Jacinda sincerely offered her sympathies to Michael but wondered if his grandmother would approve of the set-up he’d orchestrated with Molly and Kristina. Michael hoped she would, but admitted he regretted having to do this today of all days.

Turnabout Is Fair Play

Ric awoke in the basement to see Ava looming over him with another pill, telling him it would be so much easier for him if he went back to sleep. He grudgingly took the pill, and Ava updated him on Drew being shot and Willow being a prime suspect. He begged her to let him go, and she angrily informed him that it didn’t have to be like this; they should have been a perfect match, but he was always into Liz. He started dozing off, and Ava smacked him back to consciousness so he could hear her gloat about how they would soon get back all the money he stole. “Sleep tight,” she cooed. Later, Ric spit out the pill and put it in his pocket, then desperately pulled at his restraints.

Upstairs, Alexis snarked about how weird it was to come home to Ava in her house. Ava updated her on Ric and asked how it had gone with Anna. Alexis revealed that the appointment had been canceled, which she was taking as a good sign. Ava hoped the cops wouldn’t be snooping around until after they could get the money and get rid of their captive. Alexis compared their situation to Drew’s shooting and declared they were forced to hold Ric because of the same kind of vendetta that Kristina and Ava couldn’t let go of. She declared that once this was over and the money was back where it belonged, they were putting all of this behind them. Ava agreed, but wasn’t sure Ric would be as willing to let it go. Alexis argued that they’ve all committed crimes, so if they go down, he goes down, assuring Ava that Ric would get over it. Later, Alexis was on the phone with Suzanne, her assistant, reviewing her schedule, as Ric emerged from the basement behind her, lurking in the shadows!
