General Hospital Recap: The Nathan Mystery Deepens, Lulu Blasts Britt, and More

Comments

The drama continued to intensify in the September 22 episode of General Hospital. Anna (Finola Hughes) and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) dug for answers about the mysterious patient who looked just like the late Detective Nathan West (Ryan Paevey), Tracy (Jane Elliot) and Lucy (Lynn Herring) almost bonded over Monica (Leslie Charleson), Michael (Rory Gibson) broke the sad news about his grandmother to Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Carly (Laura Wright), Cody (Josh Kelly) found Outback a new home, Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) offered Molly (Kristen Vaganos) some advice, and Lulu (Alexa Havins) and Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) had some pretty serious words about Rocco (Finn Carr). Here’s a look at how it all went down.

Dante filled Anna in on the details regarding the John Doe’s car crash, and while she couldn’t believe there was no license or registration, he couldn’t believe it was Nathan, because Nathan was dead. Anna pointed out that they thought the same about Britt and felt that these two returns were not a coincidence.

Liz was stunned by their new patient’s appearance, and Lucas said he didn’t know if it was really Nathan or not. “Right now, he is just a patient who needs medical attention,” he informed the nurse. “The rest, we’ll figure out later.” An officer arrived, and Anna tasked him with taking the man’s fingerprints and a blood sample back to the station to compare to Nathan’s. Lucas didn’t have an update on Maxie’s condition, and Dante suggested talking to Obrecht, but Anna wanted to keep this quiet until they knew exactly what was going on.

Anna felt she should question Britt, and Dante marveled at how impossible this all was. “No, it’s not impossible,” Anna declared, “when you consider that Nathan and Britt are the children of Liesl Obrecht and Cesar Faison.” Dante wondered if they should contact the WSB, but Anna wanted to wait before bringing Jack in. Anna then got a call and reported that, according to the PCPD database, the John Doe is Nathan West.

Mother Load

Britt entered Bobbie’s and locked eyes with Rocco, who, after some initial awkwardness, said he was glad to finally meet her. Charlotte introduced herself, and Britt noted how much they’d both grown. After confirming he was okay, Charlotte went outside to wait for their mom. Learning that Britt was on MyFace, Rocco said he’d approve her friend request. Britt offered to answer any questions he had about her, but he put that on hold because his mom was picking him up. Lulu was happy that Charlotte gave her a heads-up that Britt was inside with Rocco, and when her son emerged, she tried to ask about Dr. Westbourne, but Rocco just wanted to go home.

Britt returned to her room at Bobbie’s to find a package on the bed and was stunned by the contents, quickly hiding it when Lulu came knocking. Since Rocco still wants to get to know the woman who gave birth to him, Lulu wanted to set some guidelines to protect her son. “Where do you get off trying to set ‘guidelines’ about how and when I get to see my son?” Britt asked, irritated. Lulu angrily reminded Britt that she wasn’t Rocco’s mother, calling her just “a test tube.” Britt argued she carried Rocco for nine months, gave birth to him, and raised him for a year. They then argued anew about Britt stealing Dante and Lulu’s embryo, and Britt declared that she was going to have a relationship with Rocco no matter what Lulu said.

Furious, Lulu regretted thinking that Britt had changed for the better, needling her about letting her mother think she was dead for years. Britt took pleasure in Lulu feeling so threatened, gleefully promising to tell Rocco tons of baby stories. As she stormed out, Lulu warned her to stay away from Rocco, and Britt shouted “His name is Ben!” before slamming the door behind her. She then reopened the package of vials and fearfully looked at a note that read “Don’t forget to take your medicine,” signed with a “C.”

The Comfort of Family

Michael broke the news to Sonny and Carly that Monica had passed away. He admitted he was still a bit in shock, and explained that Jason went to check on her and found she’d died in her sleep. Michael took a call from the funeral home, then lamented at how much needed to be done. His parents urged him to take some time to grieve and let them take care of him.

Over dinner, Michael mentioned that he and Monica had talked a lot about the custody battle over him when he was younger and informed Sonny and Carly that she eventually conceded that it was possible that they didn’t completely ruin his life. The trio then raised their glasses to toast to the late Quartermaine matriarch.

Animal House

Emma and Gio were still kissing when Brook Lynn walked in on them. She apologized for interrupting, explaining that she was looking for Cody. Cody entered and Brook Lynn sadly informed the group of Monica’s passing. Cody asked how Tracy was doing, and Brook Lynn said she’s been surprisingly composed, but had lost someone very important to her.

As Cody said a heartfelt goodbye to Outback, Brook Lynn suddenly suggested that since Rocco lives here part-time, they could ask if he’d let the dog live here full-time. A quick call to Rocco and it was all set. Emma and Gio left, and Cody noted that this new arrangement could also work in Brook Lynn’s favor because Gio would be around more often, visiting Outback with Emma.

Coffee Talk

Molly met with Alexis for coffee and filled her in about Kristina paying Cody to seduce Ava away from Ric. Molly then admitted to having feelings for Cody. Alexis wasn’t exactly surprised by the news, and Molly mused that despite the crazy things Cody does, he has a good heart. Alexis noted she still seemed conflicted, and Molly worried that if she pursued things with him, she’d come to regret it. Alexis urged her to take the risk, and Molly reluctantly admitted she might be right.

Memory Lane

Tracy was going through old photos of Monica when the doorbell rang, and when no one else answered it, she begrudgingly went to open the door only to see it was Lucy and slammed it right back in her face! Lucy pounded relentlessly on the door, insisting she let her in so they could discuss crucial Deception business. Tracy finally welcomed her in so she would shut up and told her that Monica had died. Lucy apologized and offered her sympathies, then offered Tracy a drink.

As Lucy talked about Monica, Tracy reminded her of how she stole Alan from her… but only temporarily. Lucy remarked on how Alan was always in love with Monica, and Tracy said that they had their problems, “but even with all their infidelities, he was the love of her life and she was the love of his.” Lucy liked the idea that Alan and Monica were reunited, and Tracy broke down in tears at the thought before raising her glass to toast Monica.

As Tracy walked her to the door, Lucy remarked on the elegant stairs, which Tracy explained Alan had built for Monica. Tracy then began to break down again as she lamented how she’d been so wrong about her sister-in-law. Lucy awkwardly thought about trying to comfort her before simply exiting. Alone again, Tracy strode over to the staircase and began sobbing as she lay on the steps.
