General Hospital Recap: Sasha Says Goodbye To Nina, Drew Goes After Michael and Portia Loses It
In the July 16 episode of General Hospital, Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) began saying farewell to those closest to her as she prepared to leave the country, Portia (Brook Kerr) was pushed over the edge by Drew’s (Cameron Mathison) newest blackmail demand, Curtis (Donnell Turner) considered betraying Nina’s (Cynthia Watros) trust, and more!
So Hard to Say Good-Bye

With a plan in place to leave Port Charles, Sasha began her good-bye tour at the Quartermaine mansion. First up was a heartfelt farewell with Nina, who vowed that she would always think of Sasha like a daughter and promised to be there should she ever need anything. Sasha and Daisy next had a visit from Danny, with the teen promising the baby that he’d always be a big brother who loved her.
Elsewhere at the mansion, Michael (Rory Gibson) filled Tracy (Jane Elliot) in on how Sasha was leaving the country with Daisy to protect the baby and that he was grappling with the decision to let his daughter go. He even contemplated taking Wiley and Amelia and joining Sasha, but Tracy said he’d never go so far as to take the kids away from Monica. With tears in his eyes, Michael worried that he might never see his daughter again, but Tracy commended him for prioritizing his daughter’s safety.

Later, Tracy had a conversation with Jason (Steve Burton) about the danger constantly surrounding Sonny and how Michael has to pay the price once again for being Sonny’s son. Determined not to have the newest Quartermaine, Gio, be the next one caught in the mafia crossfire, an emotional Tracy begged Jason not to stand in her way as she tried to remove Sonny from Port Charles. “Allow me, please, to protect my family any way I can,” she beseeched her nephew.

Finding Sasha and Daisy in the kitchen, Michael offered to stay with the baby while she finished packing. Cradling the baby in his arms, Michael began crying again as he said a heartbreaking good-bye to his newborn daughter. Wondering if she would even remember him as her father, Michael told Daisy that perhaps it was better if she didn’t know who he was as she grew up. “Because if you don’t remember me, you won’t miss me. You won’t have to feel this loss,” he tearfully lamented. “Whether you remember me or not, I will keep you right here in my heart, every single day, until I get to see you again,” Michael promised Daisy, placing a gentle kiss atop the sleeping baby’s head. Unbeknownst to Michael, Sasha watched the sweet interaction between father and daughter from the entryway, her own eyes filling with tears.
Hit Him Where It Hurts
At G.H., Drew consoled Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), who was upset by how “unnecessarily cruel” Michael had been in having her visitation hearing pushed to October. Promising his fiancée that they would get her kids back, Drew revealed that he had a plan to use Michael’s not-so-spotless past against him, but agreed to keep the details to himself so Willow didn’t get her hopes up.
Meanwhile, Kai (Jens Austin Astrup) sought out Portia at her office. While sorry he’d relayed to Drew details about the private conversation he’d overheard between her and Curtis at their home, he didn’t regret his actions, even if Trina did dump him as a result. Though unable to forgive Kai for betraying her daughter by choosing Drew over Trina, Portia said that she could respect him for doing what he felt was right. “But you stood on your principles and fell on the sword for someone who would never do that for you,” she added pointedly.

Their conversation was interrupted by Drew, who stormed into Portia’s office to make his next blackmail demand of the co-chief-of-staff. Once Kai excused himself, Drew laid out to Portia how he expected her to alter Michael’s bloodwork to make it look like he has an out-of-control opioid dependency. “He needs to look like an addict, and it needs to hold up in court,” he ordered.
Portia declared that she would not be a part of ruining a family. Pointing out that she’d nearly done exactly that to him by having Jacinda drug him, Drew sarcastically thanked Portia for giving him the idea. When Portia dug in her heels further, Drew delivered his parting shot: “You’ll come around. Unless you want to kiss all of this…” — pausing for effect, he slammed a framed family photo from Portia and Curtis’s wedding onto her desk before gesturing around her office — “good-bye.”
Once alone in her office, a dejected Portia stared at the framed photograph of herself, Trina and Curtis, breaking down in tears. Overwhelmed by the magnitude of what Drew was now commanding, Portia brought her hands up to her face as she quietly uttered a disbelieving, “No,” then slowly walked to the bookshelf that housed her medical school diplomas. Picking one up, she held it for a moment as tears continued to course down her face. Then, with a roaring scream of anger and frustration, Portia smashed the frame over the back of an office chair, sinking down in a heavy sob amid the wreckage.

At the Nurses Station, a smug Drew updated Willow that his plan was set in motion — and if all went well, they’d have custody of Wiley and Amelia back before the wedding. “We gave Michael every opportunity to compromise and do the right thing, and he chose not to,” he reminded his fiancée. “And now, he is gonna pay for that choice. And it’s gonna hurt. A lot.”
Out Of Options
After leaving Sasha, Nina headed to the Aurora offices to see Curtis, volunteering to assist him in the media campaign against Sonny as an insider he could quote on the record. Quickly turning her down, Curtis told his old friend that he knew how much she genuinely cared about Sonny and suspected that her pitch was all Drew’s idea. Curtis suggested they work together to come up with a plan to disarm Drew, but Nina was doubtful, feeling backed into a corner to do Drew’s bidding. Flashing back to a previous conversation he’d had with Nina, Curtis recalled that she didn’t want to blow up Drew and Willow’s relationship by revealing their affair. Back in the present moment, Curtis began formulating a plan to get rid of Drew once and for all. “Sometimes, Nina, you have to betray a friend,” he insisted, secretly considering exposing Nina and Drew’s secret himself. “It never feels good, but when you have no other choice, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.”

Do you think Portia will go through with Drew’s demand, or that Curtis will betray Nina by revealing her secret?
