General Hospital Recap: Maxie Stands up to Sidwell, Lulu and Nathan Decide To Go Public and More

Comments

The Friday, February 27 episode of General Hospital was full of confrontations, some of which went better than others. Nathan (Ryan Paevey) snapped at Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) before being pleased by Lulu’s (Alexa Havins) declaration, Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) embraced her new power, Laura (Genie Francis) tried to apologize to Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn), Portia (Brook Kerr) and Trina (Tabyana Ali) made amends, Lucas (Van Hansis) pressured Marco (Adrian Anchondo) to do the right thing, Maxie (Kirsten Storms) stood her ground with Sidwell (Carlo Rota), and more! Keep reading for all the details.

Table for Two or Three

At a Metro Court table, Obrecht wanted the details of Nathan’s reunion with Maxie, and was disappointed when he revealed that it was over between them because Maxie had chosen to stay with Spinelli. Obrecht wondered why he wasn’t fighting for her, and when she suggested he do it for James so his parents could be together again, he snapped, “You leave James out of this! And how dare you insinuate that I am neglecting my son! And who the hell are you to judge anybody’s parenting skills?” Obrecht quickly backed off, and Nathan apologized for his outburst before getting up and exiting.

At a nearby table, Lulu joined Willow and Nina to interview the new congresswoman. Willow claimed she couldn’t remember who first suggested she take over Drew’s congressional seat, and when she stumbled over Lulu’s next question about policies, Nina butted in and started taking over the interview. When Willow struggled and her mother stepped in again, Lulu noted that Nina kept saying “we,” wondering if she was taking a role in her daughter’s new job. Nina backpedaled and offered to step away, assuring Willow she had this. Alone, Lulu asked how she really felt about this new job, and Willow confided that she initially wanted to say no, but some people persuaded her that this was a good opportunity to honor her husband and do good for the community. When Willow added that she’d made a lot of mistakes and felt this was a way for her to make things right, Lulu smiled approvingly.

Heart Monitor

Nathan joined Nina at the bar and confirmed that his mother had left, admitting things had gotten tense. Nina was surprised to learn that Maxie had chosen Spinelli, but noted that this left him free to pursue Lulu. When she expressed her fears that Nathan was rushing into things, he reminded her that she’d told him to trust his heart, and it was telling him not to wait to be with Lulu.

Nathan then texted Lulu to meet him outside the restaurant to see how she was feeling. Lulu wanted to give their potential relationship a chance, but noted there were too many other people involved and worried how Maxie might feel if they got together. Nathan understood how much her friendship with Maxie meant to her, and didn’t want to pressure her but declared he knew what he wanted. Lulu admitted she wanted him, too, and decided to go for it. “But we cannot do this in secret,” she insisted. “We have to find a way to come clean with Maxie. So the question is, which one of us is going to tell her?”

Nina returned to her daughter, worried she’d overstepped earlier, but Willow assured her she was grateful for her help and support. Willow then informed her mother that she planned to use this new opportunity to make a better life for her and her children. Nina was pleased to hear Willow declare that there would no longer be a power imbalance between her and men like Michael or Drew. Nina wondered if she was going to fight for more custody, but Willow just said that now, if Michael tried to push her around, she had the power to push back.

Apology Tour

When Trina revealed Isaiah had come to talk to her, Portia couldn’t believe that he’d confronted her and assured her daughter she hadn’t asked him to do it. Trina reported he’d made that clear, and explained that Dr. Gannon opened her eyes to some hard truths, and she owed her mom an apology. Trina admitted she’d been angry and judgmental and hated that she’d hurt her. Mother and daughter tearfully declared their love for each other and rushed into a hug.

Overjoyed that they were talking again like they used to, Portia still wanted to be open about her relationship with Isaiah and explained he was sticking by her even though she was having Curtis’s baby. Trina confessed that she wanted to hate Isaiah, but she now sees how much he cares for her and how happy he makes her. “Just know that we’re not going to bond overnight,” she added with a smile. As they hugged again, Portia felt the baby kick and held Trina’s hand on her belly so she could experience it too. Trina greeted her baby brother or sister, and Portia was thrilled they’d shared this moment together.

Let Me Explain

Alexis was still reeling over Willow taking Drew’s congressional seat when Laura stopped by her office, and Alexis wanted to know why the mayor didn’t give her a heads up. Laura insisted she tried to warn her, and Alexis discovered she hadn’t seen her text. Admitting that it was worse because she’d actually gotten excited about becoming a congresswoman and told people about it, Alexis was stunned to lose out to Willow, of all people. She assumed the governor wanted someone who wouldn’t stand up to him, and Laura hedged as she hoped Willow wouldn’t let anyone bully her into carrying out their agenda. “Yeah, I wouldn’t worry about Willow Cain,” Alexis said cryptically. “She’s not a pushover. Behind that gentle, care-taking demeanor is a young woman who is… surprisingly resourceful.”

Laura confided she had been looking forward to working alongside Alexis, and regretted getting her hopes up. Alexis suggested that maybe things worked out for the best, and when Laura expressed skepticism, she joked that she’d just keep repeating that until she believed it. As she left, Laura hoped this would be a good opportunity for Willow and noted that it might help her not have to have her life revolve around Drew. When Alexis suggested, “I think a lot of people would benefit from her having a lot less time around him,” Laura reacted with a quizzical look.

Now or Never

Marco joined his father on the Wnydemere parapet, where Sidwell pointed out the piers he bought from Sonny, declaring they were only the beginning of avenging Natalia’s death. Back inside, Sidwell happily reported that Willow would be taking over Drew’s seat in congress and Marco wondered how that would get them any closer to making Sonny pay. Sidwell reminded his son that Willow was once married to Michael, and suggested she could use her new political power to get the FBI to investigate his father’s illegal activities. Marco pointed out that Sonny had slipped out of the FBI’s clutches before and worried their own activities could be scrutinized. Sidwell proposed that once they wrapped up their project, they leave town, then bring down the hammer on Sonny. Marco was skeptical Britt could finish a prototype in time, but Sidwell said she’d better, because her life depended on it.

Office Hours

At the hospital, a desperate Britt asked Lucas if he’d made any progress getting a sample of her Huntington’s medication. He reported that he hadn’t found her medication yet, and when she suggested Marco might know where it was kept, he admitted his boyfriend didn’t know what he was up to. Britt then revealed she had her own plan and showed him a syringe of sodium pentathol, explaining that the next time Pascal administered her injection, she’d give him one of his own. Lucas feared it was too risky and insisted he would find her medicine if given more time. Britt said she was running out of time, and Lucas decided that he would need help, suddenly rushing out.

Britt was starting to fill a syringe when Obrecht came busting into her office, and she quickly hid it while her mother ranted about Nathan not acting like himself. Obrecht complained that Nathan had snapped at her, but worse, he wasn’t going to fight for Maxie. Urged to talk some sense into her brother, Britt refused. After Britt ran down a list of reasons why Spinelli could be a perfect match for Maxie, Obrecht knew her daughter was talking about herself and Jason. Britt denied, claiming she and Jason weren’t even together, but Obrecht knew that she and Jason woudl be very happy together… “if you would just get out of your own way.”

Do the Right Thing

Lucas arrived at Wyndemere and asked Marco for details about Sidwell threatening Britt’s life. Marco worried that knowing too much could put him in danger, but Lucas pointed out that he was already in danger and demanded to know how bad it was. Marco wouldn’t tell him anything about the project, but did share that Britt was receiving daily injections of a drug that keeps her Huntington’s in check. When Lucas confirmed that Britt had told him the same thing, Marco complained that he shouldn’t have talked to Britt because she couldn’t be trusted. Lucas argued that she’d said the same thing about him, but he actually told him the truth. Marco was upset at being lied to and played, but when Lucas asked how that felt, he acknowledged he had no room to talk. When he insisted he felt bad about Britt’s situation, Lucas asked him to help them get their hands on a dose to reverse engineer it. Marco warned that this could get all three of them killed, but agreed they had to get Britt out of this mess.

Watch Your Step

Lucy was thrilled when Maxie walked into the Deception offices, wrapping her in a big hug. When Lucy was a little too eager to go out for drinks and talk to her about Nathan, Maxie realized she was trying to hide something. Lucy tried to play dumb, but Maxie pressed, and she finally admitted that after she collapsed on live TV and it went viral, their sales plummeted. Looking at the numbers on the computer, Maxie wondered how Deception was still in business, and Lucy admitted that a guardian angel stepped in to save them. Reluctantly, Maxie asked who that was and was appalled to learn it was Jenz Sidwell. Lucy insisted that they had no other option and promised Maxie they hadn’t given him a share of the company, just control of raw materials, shipping, and distribution. Maxie understood why they made the deal, but decided it was time for her to take charge.

Soon, Sidwell joined them, claiming to be delighted to see Maxie doing so much better. He offered to bring her up to speed over lunch, but Maxie declined and suggested that he just go with Lucy instead. When she added that they’d need to discuss his “exit strategy from the company,” he declared he had no intention of walking away from Deception and pointed out that he had a five-year contract. He pretended to express concern that fighting him in court could hurt the company and her own recovery, and suggested he just accept his support. As he and Lucy exited, Maxie warned him that this discussion was not over.
