General Hospital Recap: Ethan’s Baby Lie is Exposed and Carly’s Plan Backfires
On the Tuesday, August 4, episode of General Hospital, Chase (Josh Swickard) and Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) got one step closer to becoming Phoebe’s (Lucia and Luna Creighton) parents as Ethan (Christian Howard) spun a lie about Delilah’s (Lily Cardone) daughter to Hudson (Troy Lennon Appel), Nina (Cynthia Watros) was horrified to learn of Willow’s (Katelyn MacMullen) plan, Ava (Maura West) had a proposition for Trina (Tabyana Ali), Michael (Rory Gibson) shared his fears with Josslyn (Eden McCoy) and Carly (Laura Wright), and Drew (Cameron Mathison) attempted to patch up his friendship with Curtis (Donnell Turner). Here’s how it all played out.
Gotcha Day
Brook Lynn was a nervous wreck as she and Chase waited with Ned, Olivia, Gio, and Phoebe for Alexis to arrive with the baby”s adoption paperwork. Once Alexis got to the house, Ned, Lois, and Gio waited with the baby in the foyer, where Gio told them about his record deal. After the papers were officially signed, Brook Lynn and Chase formally introduced Phoebe Jacklyn to Ned, Lois, and Gio.
Alexis handed over a letter about Delilah that Phoebe’s father had written for the baby to read when she got older and told Brook Lynn and Chase to show the paperwork to the judge at the courthouse to finalize things. Since the adoption was closed and Phoebe would never know her birth father, Brook Lynn begged Alexis to contact them immediately if he ever reached out. Believing the father was Ethan, Alexis assured the new parents that she didn’t think that was going to happen.
Lie Down
Hudson tracked down Ethan to a hotel in Oslo, Norway and demanded answers about Delilah. Ethan told his old friend that Delilah had died — but lied and claimed that the baby had passed away as well. Blaming Ethan for Delilah’s death, Hudson called him a thief who stole from the wrong man while he beat Ethan up. Before leaving, Hudson threatened that he’d go after Ethan’s mother and sisters (Lulu and Sasha) if he ever discovered that Ethan had been lying.
Fast and Furious
As Willow, Nina, and Aunt Liesl toasted to Willow’s divorce at the Metro Court Garden, Liesl expressed her suspicions about the sudden timing. Willow told them that Drew’s congressional seat couldn’t be transferred back to him, so she’d remain in her position until the next election. She also revealed that she was planning to pressure Anna to reopen the investigation into Drew’s shooting, hoping Michael would be convicted and she’d gain full custody of Wiley and Amelia.
Nina tried to get Willow to see that was a horrible idea, and Liesl accused Willow of flexing her political power for personal gain just as Drew had. Offended, Willow barked that she was doing it for her children and needed to strike before Michael came after her. Liesl urged Willow to leave her mother out of her plans because she’d already put Nina through enough.
All Ears
Ava treated Trina to breakfast in celebration of her college graduation and offered to make Trina a partner at the gallery, but Trina turned it down because of her record contract. Thrilled to learn about Trina’s new chapter, Ava agreed to a more flexible schedule, noting that the partnership offer was there if Trina wanted to revisit it.
Trina asked for an update on Ethan. A disgruntled Ava snarked that she’d dodged a bullet. Later, Ava received a call from an unknown number. It was Ethan, who made Ava swear that she’d never tell anyone he was connected to the baby. In the hallway outside the room, Hudson heard everything as he listened in through a bug he’d planted in Ethan’s hotel room.
Meanwhile, Nina called Jack from the ladies’ room to vent about Willow’s plan to have the PCPD reopen Drew’s shooting. Unbeknownst to Nina, Trina was also in the restroom and overheard her side of the conversation.
Family Chat
Carly invited her kids over for breakfast and strong-armed Josslyn into telling Michael she’d joined the WSB. Her plan backfired when, instead of talking his sister out of being an agent, Michael was all in on Josslyn’s decision. But once he learned that his sister nearly died while working undercover, Michael was upset that he’d been so caught up in his own problems that he hadn’t been around to protect Joss.
Michael updated the women on Willow and shared that his ex-wife wanted 50/50 custody now that she was divorcing Drew. While he’d managed to temporarily put her off, Michael feared that Willow’s political position gave her the upper hand and he would lose if they went back to court.
Remorse Code
Martin set up a meeting between Curtis and Drew, who wanted to make amends with his former friend. Drew revealed that he’d been asked by the prosecution to testify in court but instead would help Curtis’s case by claiming that Det. Fitzpatrick had misunderstood his statement. Drew said he’d testify that Willow couldn’t have been the other driver in the accident because she was at home that night.
A skeptical Curtis was convinced that Drew wanted something in return. Insisting he had no ulterior motive, Drew explained that he couldn’t do anything during his illness to stop Scout from visiting Alexis, who hated him, and didn’t want Curtis to be in a similar position where he’d lose Desmond if he went to prison.
After Drew left, Curtis and Martin prepared to leave for the courthouse. Saying that he believed Drew was being sincere, Martin pointed out that if Drew testified that Willow wasn’t driving the other car, it would make it easier for them to convince the jury that Isaiah had been the other driver.
