General Hospital Recap: Dante Learns About Lulu & Nathan, Jason Busts Carly & Valentin

Comments

The March 9 episode of General Hospital was full of some tense moments! Carly (Laura Wright) had it out with Jason (Steve Burton) over Valentin (James Patrick Stuart), who paid Josslyn (Eden McCoy) a visit; Charlotte (Bluesy Burke) got an internship at Crimson; Jack (Chris McKenna) lodged a warning to Nina (Cynthia Watros); Sidwell (Carlo Rota) gave Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) a directive; Scout (Cosette Abinante) visited with Drew (Cameron Mathison); and Maxie (Kirsten Storms) spilled the beans to Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) about Lulu (Alexa Havins) and Nathan (Ryan Paevey) dating before they could tell him themselves! Here’s everything that happened.

Do As I Say, Not As I Do

The morning after Carly and Valentin slept together, they agreed that it was impulsive and complicated their already complicated relationship. Considering Carly was technically still with Jack (even if she was only still dating him to bring him down), Valentin wondered if she’d slept with him because she wanted to or to hurt Jack. Suggesting it was both, Carly reached up to kiss him. Just then, Jason entered the bedroom through the door Carly had opened moments earlier, having heard from Josslyn that Carly was hiding Valentin. Carly screeched at her best friend to leave so they could get dressed, so Jason skulked back into the hallway. Valentin quipped that if things weren’t complicated before, they certainly were now.

Carly called Jason back in and asked Valentin to give them privacy. Once the best friends were alone, Jason blasted Carly for teaming up with Valentin, and she shouted that it had been her idea to team up with Jack’s most powerful enemy to get Josslyn out of the WSB. When Jason questioned if she’d helped him escape from Steinmauer, Carly revealed that she’d suggested the transfer to Jack but had no idea Valentin was going to run off until he showed up at her home the day he’d escaped.

Ticked that she hadn’t told him any of it, Jason insisted Carly cut ties with Valentin before he got her killed, but she tossed back that he was keeping secrets himself when it came to the danger Britt was in. Saying it wasn’t his secret to tell, Jason added that involving her would have been too dangerous, but Carly argued that he already involved her when he told her about Josslyn being in the WSB. She begged him to give her space to handle the situation, but Jason worried she was in over her head.

Talk turned to the anger Josslyn had voiced toward Sonny, and how she’d joined the WSB to bring him down. Blaming herself for the dangerous position Joss was now in because of how her own choices had affected her daughter, Carly cried that she’d failed as a parent, and the only way to make up for that was to get her daughter out. Again urging Carly to cut ties with Valentin, Jason vowed he’d help her, but she insisted she needed Valentin’s connections. Besides, he’d committed to Britt, and she didn’t want to get in the way of that. Then, Carly said they each had their own battles to fight, and for once, it wasn’t going to be Jason and Carly against the world. Taking his best friend’s hand, Jason promised her that no matter what happened, it was always going to be the two of them against the world.

Warning Sign

During her workout at her apartment, Josslyn flashed back to discovering that her mother had been hiding Valentin in the attic all along. Brennan then showed up to tell her that, according to Britt, Director Cullum was Sidwell’s partner on the project she was working on. Ordering Josslyn to continue to lay low, Jack said he’d purged her file from the WSB database, so Cullum wouldn’t discover she was an agent. If the WSB director were a double agent and realized they were on to him, Cullum would kill them both, Jack noted. Josslyn snarked that if Jack was so concerned about safety, he should break up with her mother, so Carly didn’t get caught in any crossfire.

Assuring her he’d do everything he could to keep Carly safe, Jack didn’t want to make any sudden moves that would tip off Cullum until he had concrete proof. Then, when he sighed that they were lucky Cullum had no reason to think she was involved, Josslyn finally told her boss about her encounter with Cullum at Wyndemere the night of the blizzard and how she’d found a copy of Faison’s book and a pack of his favorite cigarillos in the man’s coat. Jack blasted Josslyn for her reckless behavior, since it would devastate Carly if anything happened to her. “Says the man who recruited me,” Josslyn snarked back. Lamenting that he would change the past if he could, Jack confided that he cared about Carly more than anyone he’d ever known, and now he was trying to prevent a double tragedy. Telling her not to get herself killed, Jack exited.

Later, Josslyn came out of the shower to find Valentin sitting on her couch, her pistol in his hand. When she said she wasn’t going to turn him in to the authorities, Valentin scoffed that she’d already spoken with Jason. Insisting she was just trying to protect her mother, Josslyn asked Valentin to leave town. He replied that the Sidwell situation was about to explode, and if he abandoned Carly, she’d be in even greater danger. Josslyn sneered that Valentin was overestimating his importance. He placed her pistol on the ottoman and replied that maybe she enjoyed making the same rookie mistakes of underestimating her enemies.

Bend And Break

Ahead of bringing Scout to visit Drew, Alexis met Kristina for breakfast at the Surf Lodge. Kristina asked if her mom thought Willow knew she’d been in the running for the congressional appointment, but Alexis didn’t think so since Willow hadn’t brought it up when they’d spoken to make the visitation plans. Alexis worried that seeing Drew for the first time since his stroke would be upsetting for Scout and expressed how glad she was that Scout was living with her since Willow had so much on her plate already. She added that she can handle losing the congressional seat since it meant spending more time with her granddaughter, and Kristina sniffed that Alexis would have made a better congresswoman than Willow.

Meanwhile, having heard about the conflicting advice Willow received from Mayor Collins and Councilman Boyle when it comes to accepting guidance from donors such as himself, Jenz stopped by the Cain residence to remind Willow that she wouldn’t be where she was today had it not been for him, and she should take her cues from Ezra moving forward. When Willow replied that she understood, Sidwell chuckled that he wasn’t trying to control her the way Drew had, and she would have free rein with her administration — as long as it didn’t conflict with his agenda. Then, Jenz instructed Willow to move Scout back into the house, because the optics made her look like the evil stepmother who separated Drew from his only child. Willow countered that she was doing what was best for Scout, but Sidwell replied that what was best for both of them was to bring her home. Warning Willow not to disappoint him, Sidwell then left.

Next, Willow wheeled Drew into the living room for his visit with Scout and encouraged him to set aside his feelings for her so that things went smoothly with his daughter. Alexis then arrived with Scout, who was frightened to see her father immobile in the wheelchair. Alexis encouraged her granddaughter to talk to Drew, and he’d blink his replies. When Scout asked her dad if he was okay, he glanced at Willow, then returned his gaze to his daughter and blinked once. Excited that he responded “yes,” Scout cheered that he was getting better, but Alexis reminded her that it was going to take time. Willow returned Drew to his bedroom and Scout went to her own room. Alexis wanted to pick a date for Scout’s next visit and was shocked when Willow stated that she wanted Scout to move back home.

Traitors

At Crimson, Nina informed Jacinda that she’d be responsible for training the new intern while she was with Willow in Washington, D.C. Just then, Lulu entered the office with Charlotte, having sprung the internship on the teen that morning. While Nina gave her former stepdaughter a warm welcome, Charlotte at first kept a cool distance, saying she didn’t want to distract Nina from her important work. But after Lulu raved about how great her experience had been working as a Crimson assistant, and Nina gushed that she was going to love having Charlotte there, Charlotte changed her tune and thanked Nina for the opportunity.

Nina asked Jacinda to show Charlotte around the office. Once they exited, Nina gently tried to tell Lulu that Charlotte was putting on an act, but Lulu said she was aware Charlotte was playing them. She thanked Nina for taking Charlotte on as an intern, and was surprised when Nina said she was happy Lulu was dating Nathan. Lulu stopped by Jacinda’s desk at the reception area on her way out to tell Charlotte she could start right away since she had the day off from school. As Lulu warned Charlotte to be good, the teen rolled her eyes.

Later, Nina informed Charlotte that she knew she was playing them, and rather than resenting being babysat, she should think of the internship as an opportunity to show her mom how responsible she could be. When Charlotte groused that she wished her mom trusted her, Nina noted how scared Lulu had been the night Charlotte went missing because she’d taken advantage of that trust. Then, Charlotte flashed back to the conversation she’d overheard when Jack instructed Nina to get the teen to share what she knew about Valentin. Back in the present, Charlotte gave Nina a pointed look as she agreed that it was horrible when someone took advantage of your trust, because it made you question everything you knew about that person.

Jacinda was at her desk when Kristina arrived, needing something to wear for the grand reopening of Charlie’s Pub. Soon after, Jack arrived, demanding to see Nina. Despite Jacinda telling him that Nina was with someone, Jack stormed into her office, so Nina asked Charlotte to leave the room. Next, after supplying Kristina with an outfit from the sample closet, Jacinda took her to pick out a pair of shoes, so the reception area was empty when Charlotte returned from the bathroom. As Charlotte listened from the other side of the slightly ajar door, Jack commented that Charlotte working at Crimson would make it convenient for Nina to get Valentin’s location out of her. When Nina replied that Valentin was likely long gone, Jack stated that he had reason to believe otherwise and reminded her that he could make the traffic cam footage of Willow resurface if she didn’t get him information on Valentin via Charlotte.

Cat’s Out Of The Bag

At the PCPD, Nathan told Dante that all his attempts to identify the late Delilah so far had come up empty, but they agreed to keep on searching through additional avenues. Dante then asked Nathan how he was doing after Maxie chose Spinelli, and when Nathan stated he was fine, Dante offered to take him out for a beer if he wanted to talk. Without bringing up Lulu, Nathan left the commissioner’s office. Soon after, Maxie showed up, and Dante apologized for not coming by to see her sooner.

Maxie quipped that she figured things were awkward, given the Nathan and Lulu situation. Dante had no idea what she was talking about. Feeling badly that she’d been the one to tell him, Maxie said she’d come by to commiserate, and commended Dante for taking the news better than she had. Even though she’d chosen Spinelli, it wasn’t easy to see her best friend with her ex-husband, Maxie divulged, and figured Dante had to feel the same way.

Meanwhile, Lulu met up with Nathan at the Surf Lodge to fill him in on her conversation with Maxie. He confided that he’d had a chance earlier to tell Dante about them, but didn’t, and felt like a jerk because Dante had been trying to be a good friend. Deciding that they needed to tell Dante about them together, Lulu thought it would be easier to tell her ex than it had been to tell Maxie because he was still in love with Sam. When Nathan and Lulu got to Dante’s office, they were surprised to see Maxie there and learned that Dante was aware they were dating.

Lulu accused Maxie of telling Dante out of spite, but Maxie figured Dante had already known. Nathan attempted to apologize to his ex-wife, and Maxie replied that she wished he’d been honest that first night she came home. Still hurt, Maxie declared that she was glad everything was out in the open, grabbed her coat, and left. Then, Lulu apologized to Dante for not being the one to tell him, but he insisted no apology was necessary, and cut Nathan off when he tried to make sure their friendship was okay. Receiving a notification on his phone, Dante dismissed Lulu and Nathan, saying he had to deal with police business.
