Days of Our Lives Comings and Goings Shocker: AlexAnn Hopkins Returns as Joy Wesley
A familiar face is coming back to Salem! In a surprise twist, AlexAnn Hopkins is making her return to Days of Our Lives as Joy Wesley beginning with the Friday, April 24, episode! “She’s back!” the soap posted on Instagram. “What trouble will Joy be getting into this time?”
Here Comes Trouble
The daughter of Craig Wesley (Kevin Spirtas) and Nancy Wesley (Patrika Darbo), Joy was born back in 2003, with her parents hoping she would be a match to donate bone marrow to her big sister Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin), who had been diagnosed with leukemia. When Nancy and Craig left Salem in 2005, they took their daughter with them, but Joy resurfaced in October 2024 and quickly found herself neck-deep in drama.
After spending the night with Johnny (Carson Boatman), Joy landed a job on the soap opera Body and Soul, and it was clear that the drama wasn’t going to be saved for the cameras: not only was Johnny a director for the series, but her co-star was his wife, Chanel (Raven Bowens)!
When the truth finally came out at a New Year’s party, Johnny insisted that he and Joy had never actually had sex. Joy left the bash with Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) and they slept together. But he was in love with Stephanie (Abigail Klein), so when Joy discovered she was pregnant, she quickly skipped town. Hopkins was last seen in the role on March 19, 2025.
“Surprise!” Hopkins declared in the Instagram video, which was filmed at the DAYS studio. “I’m back! You thought Joy was gone? She’s back in Salem. To find out why, you’ll have to tune into Peacock.”
In the comments, Wilson commented, “She baaaack 🚬,” and fans immediately began speculating that Alex and Stephanie’s new marriage is poised to be tested by the arrival of Joy— likely with Alex’s baby in tow.
