Days of Our Lives Comings & Goings: Alice Halsey Officially Wraps Run as Rachel Black
The time has come for Days of Our Lives fans to say good-bye to one of the show’s brightest young talents. Alice Halsey, who has played Rachel Black since last year and quickly impressed viewers with her work as the crafty daughter of Kristen DiMera and Brady Black, completed filming last year after she was cast in Netflix’s upcoming reboot of Little House on the Prairie. Now the actress revealed on Instagram that her final airdate on DAYS is Wednesday, March 4. In the same post, she wrote an emotional farewell to her daytime home.
Parting Words
“My final episode as Rachel Black airs tomorrow,” began Halsey’s message, which was posted on March 3. “After shooting 56 episodes of Days of Our Lives in nine months, it was not easy to say goodbye to my friends in the cast and crew who had become like family. I will be forever grateful for the privilege to play such a fascinating, complicated character and to be a part of this epic story.”
Halsey’s farewell to the show was accompanied by a carousel of images of the young actress with her co-stars, including Salem grandmother Deidre Hall (Marlena) and her on-screen parents, Stacy Haiduk (Kristen) and Eric Martsolf (Brady). She ended her message by writing, “Thank you to everyone at Days – I miss you guys!! – and to all of the incredible fans for your support of my turn as Rachel Black!”
Martsolf was one of the first to react to the post, writing in the comment section, “I will miss you like bonkers! I will treasure being your tv Dad before your obvious ascent into superstardom. Love ya Alice.❤️” He then took to his own Instagram to pay tribute to Halsey, writing, “This little star is wrapping up here time as my tv daughter on Days tomorrow. Once in awhile as a thespian you get to swap lines and time with what you know to be a true talent. Alice, you impressed me from day one, and I will miss sharing scenes with you. Now go conquer the prairie, superstar . Love, E.”
Greg Rikaart (Leo) also chimed in on Halsey’s past, writing, “Gonna be fun watching you soar. 💫” Declared Rachel Boyd (Sophia). “You are a rock star!!! 🌟 miss you my miniii.” “So proud of you kid,” echoed Martha Madison (Belle). “I’m a forever fan. Go get em.” Cary Christopher, who recently ended his own run as Thomas DiMera, shared well wishes, too, writing, “Alice, you were so incredible on the show and I’m so happy to have become friends with you!! Can’t wait to see you shine on Little House on the Prairie.”
Speaking of Halsey’s new series, Little House on the Prairie is set to debut on July 9th with Halsey playing the lead role of Laura Ingalls — and Deadline reports that Netflix has renewed the show for a second season. Enthused Halsey in a separate Instagram post, “We’re headed back to the prairie!! I am more excited than I can put into words. While we wait for the premiere of season one on July 9th, I am so grateful to be gearing up for season two!!! 🎉 😁”
As for the role Halsey has vacated, Rachel will be recast, but DAYS has yet to reveal the name of the new actress who will be playing her.
