The Young and the Restless: How Jason Thompson Wants Billy to React to Kyle & Victoria (Excl)
Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Victoria (Amelia Heinle) successfully scrambled to keep Billy (Jason Thompson) from discovering them together in London on The Young and the Restless on October 27 — and while the lovers’ secret relationship remains under wraps for now, Jason Thompson tells Soap Opera Digest that he can’t wait to play the fallout when Billy inevitably learns that his ex-wife is hooking up with his nephew.
Jason Thompson Is a Fan of Kyle and Victoria — But Billy Won’t Be!
Given that Thompson is already juggling multiple storylines — Billy’s new marriage to Sally and the recent birth of their baby girl, Ruby; the health crisis of his mom, Jill; and his ongoing quest for control of Chancellor — the actor declares that the prospect of Billy catching on to Kyle and Victoria’s shenanigans “is an embarrassment of riches, and there is so much for me to play!”
While Billy is sure to have a negative reaction to Kyle and Victoria’s involvement, Thompson says he’s a huge fan of the pairing. “I think they’re fantastic together,” he enthuses. “I’m a big fan of Michael’s and I absolutely adore Amelia, and watching them, I think they’re great together and I totally believe it.”
Thompson sees the deepening connection between Victoria and Kyle as “so layered and so weighted for the characters” — and he predicts that no matter how and when Billy ends up finding out, “It’s something that is just going to blow his mind.”
The actor has already put in a pitch to Y&R Executive Producer Sally McDonald for how he’d like to see Billy handle the discovery. “I said to Sally, kind of jokingly, ‘I kind of want to go against the grain. I’d like to just punch Kyle once and then never say anything again.’ I don’t want to get into a big, ‘How dare you?! You’re my nephew, that’s my ex-wife!’ Like, we don’t need to do all that, you know? Let me just knock him once and they can keep doing what they need to do! Billy has clearly moved on, right?”
Grins Thompson, “I don’t know how that’s going to play out, but there is so much potential, so much rich stuff. Not only just Billy finding out, but Claire [Victoria’s daughter and Kyle’s ex, played by Hayley Erin], too! There are so many layers to the story and I feel like we’re in a really great flow with all the things we’ve got coming up. They mean a lot; nothing is a throwaway right now, and there’s not a scene that goes by where there’s not something to play and it allows me to stay very, very engaged. I’m just so grateful for that.”
