The Young and the Restless’s Eileen Davidson Lands New Role
The Young and the Restless star Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott) is making her New York stage debut in Neil Simon’s Rumors, landing the role of Claire Ganz in an off-Broadway production that features an ensemble of current and former cast members from Bravo’s Real Housewives franchise.
Eileen Davidson to Star in Rumors
In addition to her long-running role on Y&R and her previous soap work on Days of our Lives (ex-Kristen DiMera/Susan Banks et al) and Santa Barbara (ex-Kelly Capwell), Davidson starred on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills from 2014-17.
Rumors, a dark comedy that premiered in 1988, centers around four couples who gather for an anniversary party only to find their host with a bullet wound, his wife missing, and the police on the way. Davidson’s role, Claire Ganz, is described by People as a “sharp-tongued socialite.”
Davidson will be sharing her role with another Real Housewife, as this production features two separate casts.
From January 9 through February 28, Rumors will star Lisa Rinna (ex-Billie Reed, DAYS; The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills), Phaedra Parks (The Real Housewives of Atlanta), Stacey Rusch (The Real Housewives of Potomac), and Dolores Catania (The Real Housewives of New Jersey).
Davidson will appear in the second cast of Rumors from March 2 through April 21, starring alongside Cynthia Bailey (The Real Housewives of Atlanta), Carole Radziwill (The Real Housewives of New York City), and Candiace Dillard Bassett (The Real Housewives of Potomac).
Casting for the roles of the husbands in the show will be announced at a later date.
In an Instagram post announcing Davidson’s casting in the play, several of her Y&R co-stars shared their excitement in the comment section. “Amazing!!!!!🙌❤️” enthused her TV daughter, Melissa Ordway (Abby), while Lauralee Bell (Christine) offered up four applause emojis. Davidson’s former DAYS castmate Kate Mansi (ex-Abigail Deveraux; ex-Kristina Corinthos-Davis, GH), who is currently appearing in a production of Proof in Arizona, commented, “Whaaaat! My ⭐️ @eileendavidsonofficial ! After we wrap this play I’ll come !!”
This production of Rumors will be directed by Zhailon Levingston, who won a Tony Award this year for co-directing the musical Cats: The Jellicle Ball. It will play at the Newman Mills Theater at the Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space in New York City. General tickets go on sale on Friday, October 30.
