Catching Up with Kurt McKinney

Comments

In 2000, GUIDING LIGHT’s Matt and Vanessa left town to help Dinah, who was on the run and pregnant. Now, Kurt McKinney (Matt) is headed back to Springfield and catches fans up on what he — and Matt — have been doing since.

“I have been dividing my time up between Los Angeles and New York. I’m back and forth auditioning. I’ve done a handful of independent films,” explains McKinney.

“I did a movie of the week upon leaving the show called Cupid & Cate. It was a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie with Mary-Louise Parker (Fried Green Tomatoes) and Peter Gallagher (Sandy, THE O.C) and Bebe Neuwirth (CHEERS). And then a couple of other independent projects that you’ll probably never see,” he says with a chuckle. “Which is unfortunately where so many of those end up.”

McKinney has been able to keep in touch with many of his old GL friends. “Once in a while I’ve popped in the studio and got to see some of my old pals behind the scenes. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone, but it was about six months ago that I was there, so I feel like I’ve seen everyone in the not-too-distant past. It’s a really good group of people over there, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes as well and with a new regime over there, I’m looking forward to being a part of it,” he enthuses.

As for Matt and Vanessa, “I’m assuming they went to Europe and liked it so much that they just decided to stay. They spent time touring bistros and little inns drinking wine and having a good time,” smiles McKinney.

Fans will find out for sure when Matt comes back to town in March.
