5 General Hospital Characters Who Deserve To Find Love in 2026 — Ava, Kristina and More!
Soaps have always been about love in the afternoon, but there are more than a few characters on General Hospital who have been coming up empty in the romance department of late. While some residents of Port Charles are happily coupled or exploring new relationships, there are others who are painfully single and shouldn’t be. Here are just five of the many characters we think should be in store for new love in the new year.
Ava Jerome

Ava (Maura West) is a force of nature, and requires a man who can rise to her level. It seemed like Ric (Rick Hearst) could go toe-to-toe with her, but they were perhaps too much alike as the lovers wound up betraying each other in the end. Ava would be the first to tell you she doesn’t need a man, but it’s always lots of fun to watch her spar with a romantic partner. She and Sidwell (Carlo Rota) have been setting off some sparks during their encounters, though getting involved with the notorious criminal might not be the best idea. Still, Ava is more than capable of protecting herself, so it could be fun to see what happens … whether she were to end up as the first lady of Wyndemere once again as she was during her marriage to Nikolas Cassadine, or end up taking him down, like she did with Ryan Chamberlain!
Dante Falconeri

Poor Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) found love again with Sam (Kelly Monaco), but his hopes of a happily ever after came to an abrupt end when she was murdered in 2024. This tragedy happened shortly after Sam donated a portion of her liver to save the life of his ex-wife, Lulu (Alexa Havins), who soon emerged from her coma. As Lulu resumed her life after four years, reconnecting with her children was more of a priority than reconnecting with Dante, as he was still mourning Sam. Over time, the pair have proven that they still work well together while parenting their kids, and there are many fans rooting for a new chapter in the “Lante” love story. Perhaps Lulu starting something with Nathan (Ryan Paevey) would be the catalyst for Dante realizing he’s still got feelings for his former spouse. Whether it’s with her or with a woman he doesn’t have history with, we’re rooting for some lovely lady to heal Dante’s broken heart.
Elizabeth Webber

After her (unpopular with fans) relationship with Finn (Michael Easton) fell apart when he fell off the wagon, Liz (Rebecca Herbst) was single for a bit until her first love, Lucky (Jonathan Jackson), returned to Port Charles in 2024. Things were looking up as they rekindled their romance, but when he popped the question in 2025, she gently turned him down, knowing that their lifestyles were no longer compatible. Another one of her ex-husbands, Ric, has made multiple attempts to test the waters with her, but she’s made it clear she isn’t interested in reuniting with him. With her three sons all grown up, Liz has been spending the lion’s share of her time working at the hospital as head nurse and counseling her friends about their love lives. She really needs someone to help her enjoy some time off, so maybe it’s time for G.H. to hire a handsome new doctor who can sweep her off her feet! Or, given how successfully she’s been paired in the past with someone with bad boy tendencies (e.g., Jason, Franco), maybe a handsome new patient — one harboring a mysterious secret, of course — is a better prescription.
Kristina Davis

Kristina (Kate Mansi) has struggled in the romance department for many years now, and her current stretch of singledom began when she encouraged her rocker girlfriend, Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez), to leave town to go on tour back in August 2024. She tried to throw herself into work only to have Charlie’s Pub burn to the ground. Kristina did have her revenge on Ava to focus on for a time, but since giving up that quest, she’s been just kind of drifting aimlessly and meddling in sister Molly’s (Kristen Vaganos) love life by playing matchmaker for her and Cody (Josh Kelly). A new girlfriend would be just the thing to mix things up for Kristina, and frankly, we’d still love to see what might transpire if cop Valerie Spencer was to reverse her years-long vanishing act and pop back up in Port Charles to see if the flickers of chemistry between her and Kristina were still there!
Nina Reeves

Nina (Cynthia Watros) has had just the worst luck in love over the years. The last serious relationship she had was with Sonny (Maurice Benard), but their marriage seemed doomed to fail since they got together when he had amnesia and she knew exactly who he was but chose to lie about it, only to break his trust again after they said, “I do.” Then there was that ill-advised affair with Drew (Cameron Mathison), while he and her daughter, Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), were falling for each other. She’s a hopeless romantic who’s been without any romance for far too long. Given that Carly (Laura Wright) is currently plotting against Jack (Chris McKenna) — with Nina’s former hubby Valentin (Chris McKenna), no less — it stands to reason that at some point in 2026, he’ll find himself suddenly single. Nina has fallen for many a studly schemer, and Jack could prove to be just her type. Bonus points (in Nina’s eyes, at least) if it drove Carly up a wall!
