What is the most out of character thing you had to play?

Laura Wright (Carly, GH):
“On GUIDING LIGHT, [my character] Cassie stayed with Edmund after he impregnated Dinah with her embryo. [GL Director] Brian Mertes really helped me as an actor with that. He’d say, ‘Well, you have to do this. Why do you think your character would stay? Why would she do it?’ And I had to go, ‘Well, because of her other kids. Because she did love him. Because she doesn’t want to be divorced again. Because [Dinah’s] carrying her child.’ He walked me through that and helped me stop saying no. It became a great story and I had so much fun working with Gina Tognoni [ex-Dinah; now Phyllis, Y&R] and David Macdonald [ex-Edmund].”

Lisa LoCicero (Olivia, GH):
“I think yes, she would sleep with a gangster, yes, she would put in a pizza oven at the Quartermaine mansion, but when Olivia went to Sonny and asked him to shut Johnny up about something, I remember that upsetting me a little bit and going, ‘She would never do this!’ The other thing was when Olivia left baby Leo with Brook Lynn; in fact, that probably tops the list.”

Courtney Hope (Sally, B&B):
“The scenes when Sally was fantasizing about Liam went to a place I wasn’t expecting. I did not expect it to be that hot and heavy. That was new! And I don’t mind that, because it provided a really interesting nuance to Sally that was something very different than she had with Thomas, and I appreciated that.”

Rena Sofer (Quinn, B&B):
“In the beginning, it seemed like Quinn was a bit of a gold digger, which I never thought she was, so I tried to keep that in mind in how I played her and how she spoke. She was certainly impressed by Eric, but never by his money or position, and I think that still holds true today.”

Eric Martsolf (Brady, DAYS):
“I was a bit taken aback when Brady decided to demand that Nicole leave town after cheating on him. I thought for sure he would have locked her in a sarcophagus for a few months. That would have been more up his alley.”

Melissa Ordway (Abby, Y&R):
“I think it’s super out of character that Abby would ever be nice to Sharon because of everything she has done to the Newmans. Abby is really protective of her family, so it’s weird to me when Abby is remotely nice to Sharon, even though I love Sharon Case!”

Sharon Case (Sharon, Y&R):
“When Sharon started stealing things, was random and seemed a little displaced. Also, Sharon marrying Victor and all that went along with it was so out of character for her, although it turned out she wasn’t in her right mind.”
