Sharon Discovered Nick’s Infidelity on Young and Restless and More Big Moments from October 20

In 1980 on General Hospital, the so-called “Walls of Jericho” (a sheet separating them in the bed they were sharing while hiding out at the Whitaker's farm in Beecher's Corners) came down, and Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) and Laura Webber Baldwin (Genie Francis) made love after she removed her wedding band (she was married to Scott Baldwin at the time). This was a landmark moment in the couple's controversial love story, which infamously included Luke raping Laura in 1979.

In 1998, The Young and the Restless's Sharon Newman (Sharon Case, l.) arrived in Denver to join Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), who was there on a business trip. When she arrived at the door of his hotel room, however, Sharon was in for a most unpleasant shock: She overheard Nick and Grace Turner (Jennifer Gareis) conversing about the sexual encounter they had just had! Dazed and distraught, Sharon fled from the hotel and as she distractedly stumbled through the streets, weeping, Grace's words about sleeping with Nick echoing through her head, she was hit by a car.

In 2020, Cady McClain assumed the role of Jennifer Horton Deveraux on Days of Our Lives. She assumed the role from Melissa Reeves, who had been playing Jennifer on and off since 1985. McClain was no stranger to soaps, having appeared on All My Children as Dixie Cooney, As The World Turns as Rosanna Cabot and Young and Restless as Kelly Andrews, winning Daytime Emmys for her work on both AMC and ATWT. In 2021, when her first Salem stint wrapped, McClain told Soap Opera Digest, “I felt like I was revisiting some of the golden years of what soaps can be. DAYS is a beautiful show that really honors its past and its history. The storyline was so well-plotted that every time I worked, there was something special about that day.”

In 2020 on Young and Restless, Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) and Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) came to a critical juncture in their romance when, with great difficulty, she confessed to him that she had slept with his cousin, Nate Hastings... just after he finished publicly dedicating the award he had received to them! Insisting it had meant nothing to her, Elena pleaded with Devon to forgive her. He stormed out, took the elevator down to the hotel lobby, ran over to Nate and slugged him! Nate sank to the floor.

In 2022, General Hospital reintroduced Emma Samms as Holly Sutton, who returned for a month-long stint — the first time the actress had worked since her real-life battle with Long Covid began in 2020. Speaking to Soap Opera Digest, she shared how happy she was to be working once again with her longtime leading man, Tristan Rogers (Robert Scorpio). "It’s been fantastic,” she raved. “We’ve just sort of slipped right back into it. They’ve written some really funny banter for us, enough that I think you’ll see that spark between Robert and Holly. He’s been complimentary to me after some challenging scenes — ‘Well done, that was great’ — and I think we’ve both really enjoyed it.”
