Young and Restless’s Conner Floyd Is the New Chad DiMera on Days of Our Lives!
Another shocking casting announcement is afoot as Days of Our Lives recasts the role of Chad DiMera with Young and Restless’s Conner Floyd, who is currently playing Chance on the CBS soap. Deadline is reporting that Floyd is set to begin taping at DAYS on June 23, but given how far ahead the Peacock soap tapes, he won’t begin airing as Chad until April 2026.
Casting Switch
The role of Chad DiMera was originated by Casey Deidrick back in 2009, and after his exit in 2013, Billy Flynn took over in 2014. In March 2025, news broke that Flynn was exiting DAYS after 11 years to join the cast of Y&R as a recast of Cane Ashby. At the time of the announcement, there was no news as to what DAYS had in mind for the character of Chad, but Executive Producer Ken Corday told TV Insider, “We support Billy as an actor and friend, and wish him nothing but continued success and happiness, personally, and professionally. He will certainly be missed in Salem.”
In an Instagram Story, Flynn responded to the news of the recast by congratulating Floyd. “Chad is in great hands,” he wrote. “You’re gonna crush it, man.”
Floyd joined the cast of Y&R back in November 2021 as the newest actor to play the oft-recast role of Chance Chancellor. Before making his daytime debut, the actor had previously appeared in movies like A Kiss on Candy Cane Lane, Malicious Motives, Stolen in Her Sleep, and The Last Deal.
Chance hadn’t been seen as often on Y&R in recent months, with his last appearances in April centered around helping the rest of the Genoa City Police Department rescue a kidnapped Sharon and Phyllis. Then, the exit of Allison Lanier as Summer in May meant Chance’s on-screen love interest was no longer on the canvas.
Flynn made his debut as the new Cane on Y&R in the June 19 episode, and will share scenes with Floyd as Cane and Chance come face to face as part of the storyline reintroducing Cane to the canvas. At this time, there is no information on whether the character of Chance will be recast once again or simply written out of the show.
Over on DAYS, Chad has currently been growing closer to AnnaLynne McCord’s Cat Greene, which has been more than a little awkward given that her character was introduced pretending to be his late wife, Abigail. Flynn’s exit would seem to have put the kibosh on that particular storyline, but now that the character of Chad is being recast, it can continue.
