Young and Restless Comings & Goings: Adam Gets a Blast From the Past
On The Young and the Restless, Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) is poised to revisit his unsavory past in Las Vegas to help execute his half brother Nick (Joshua Morrow) plan to lure the evildoing Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) out of hiding. As part of that storyline, the show is bringing back a character last seen in 2020, who will be played by the same actress, Tina Casciani.
Viva Las Vegas
Casciani made her Y&R debut as Riza Thomson back in May 2019, the same month that Mark Grossman joined the cast as Adam. At the time, Adam was suffering from amnesia and was going by the name Spider as he lived his best card shark life in Sin City, where Riza was known as the queen of the underground poker scene. Riza was first seen sharing scenes with Adam’s crafty father, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), who offered her money to help him track down Spider, who had disappeared. Riza then crossed paths with one of Adam’s former lovers, Sharon (Sharon Case), who had also traveled to Vegas. Later, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) also made the trek to the gambling mecca and met up with Riza.
In January 2020, Casciani returned to the show when Adam traveled to Vegas and shared a warm reunion with Riza, who was less delighted to see who Adam was with — cop and former fed Chance (played at the time by Donny Boaz). The show’s head writer and executive producer, Josh Griffith, told Soap Opera Digest at the time, “Riza is very street-smart. She never trusts someone she doesn’t know.” But has Riza somehow fallen into Matt’s twisted web?
Born in New York City, the actress is of Brazilian and Italian descent and began her career as a model, landing campaigns for prestigious brands such as Giorgio Armani and GUESS. Now based in Los Angeles, she has appeared in movies like Role Models with Paul Rudd and on TV series such as Jane the Virgin and The CW sci-fi drama Pandora, where she portrayed the role of Tierney, the leader of the Hypatia Syndicate.
