Why General Hospital’s Cyrus Should Fear The Wrath Of Alexis

Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid: Cyrus (Jeff Kober) might have messed with the wrong woman (Nancy Lee Grahn’s Alexis) when he killed Sam.
Now that Alexis Davis knows that her daughter Sam McCall was murdered on General Hospital, it’s just a matter of time before she learns that several people in Port Charles believe that the killer is none other than the homicidal half brother of Mayor Laura Collins — Cyrus Renault. As Alexis told Dr. Isaiah Gannon at the end of Tuesday’s episode regarding the identity of her daughter’s murderer: “I’ll find him, and I’m not going to stop until I do.”

Once that ball gets rolling downhill, Cyrus should watch his back. It’s one thing to go after Dex, who pretty much only had Joss in his corner looking to avenge him. Sam not only had a mob enforcer (Jason Morgan), a detective (Dante Falconeri), a sitting congressman (Drew Quartermaine) and even Sonny Corinthos among those who loved her, she was the daughter of one of the most lethal attorneys in town — Natasha Alexandra Mikkosovana Cassadine, aka Alexis Davis, illegitimate daughter of that aspiring mass murderer, Mikkos Cassadine. Cassadines have made revenge a blood sport. Alexis has had a ringside seat watching how her father’s wife, Helena, exacted her own brand of revenge: When Alexis was a little girl, Helena sliced the throat of Alexis’s beloved mother, Kristin, right in front of her.
Sure, she may have devoted her life’s work to being on the side of law and order, but Alexis has been known to be lethal to those who cross her or a member of her family. Her first target was understandable. In 1998, she teamed up with Luke Spencer, who had his own reasons for despising Helena Cassadine, to off the woman. They loosened the railing of the parapet at Wyndemere, hoping Helena would fall to her death. The plan went awry, and Katherine Bell took the plunge instead.
In 2002, Alexis’s beloved sister, Kristina, was killed in a bomb set by Luis Alcazar, unleashing a fury in Alexis over the loss of yet another member of her family. She was incensed when he was cleared of all charges. While she was pregnant, Alexis confronted Alcazar in the park, but he denied any responsibility for Kristina’s fate and soon she doubled over in pain. Scared for her unborn baby, she asked him for help and instead he walked away. She gave birth prematurely to a daughter, who she named after her late sister. Still enraged by it all, Alexis confronted Alcazar at his penthouse and during the argument, she pushed Alcazar to his death off the balcony. Not only did she conceal her involvement, but she let Jason Morgan and Brenda Barrett be charged with Luis’s murder! When her crime did catch up to her, she faked a split personality, modeling her “alter ego” after her deceased sister, and ended up being found not guilty by reason of mental defect (which is exactly what she’d hoped would happen).

The Long Way: Courtesy of Alexis, Luis (Ted King) plummeted to his death in 2002.
In 2010, Alexis’s then-teenage daughter, Kristina, was being physically abused by her boyfriend, Kiefer Bauer. One night, Alexis came home to the horrifying sight of Keifer rushing out of the house while Kristina lay on the floor, bleeding and barely conscious after Keifer assaulted her. Alexis got Kristina into her car and set out for the hospital. In her frantic and distraught state, Alexis mowed Keifer down as he stood before her on the road, and Alexis barely even registered it! The troubled young man died from his injuries. Alexis came forward as the hit-and-run driver, but didn’t do time for it.

Road Rage: Alexis took down Kristina’s (then-Lexi Ainsworth) abuser without even realizing it!
In 2021, recovering alcoholic Alexis fell off the wagon. While under the influence, she believed that her daughter Sam was in danger from Franco. She grabbed a syringe and lunged for him, but ended up stabbing Dante instead when the cop stepped in to try to help the situation. She was charged with attempted murder and ended up with a hefty prison sentence, but wound up getting released that same year.
Several crafty Port Charles citizens have already caught on to the likelihood that Cyrus is the killer. Liz and Lucky, for instance, are currently investigating the matter on their own. But if and when they get the goods on Cyrus, they’re unlikely to take some sort of vigilante revenge on him in response. Alexis, on the other hand? She’s not only smart enough to figure out a way to get away with it, but she has experience and a lot of motivation. Cyrus may very well have made a deadly error by miscalculating just how dangerous an enemy Alexis can be.
Do you think Alexis will be the one to prove Cyrus’s guilt, and how do you think she would make him pay? Sound off in the comments below!
