How Sasha Said Goodbye to General Hospital on Sofia Mattsson’s Last Episode

The July 18 episode of General Hospital marked the end of Sofia Mattsson’s nearly seven-year run as Sasha Gilmore Corbin. With assistance from Jason (Steve Burton), Sasha and her baby daughter, Daisy, began a new life far from Port Charles as she moved in with her parents, Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) and Holly Sutton. Keep on reading to see how the soap handled Mattsson’s exit from the soap where she’s been appearing since 2018.

Safe Haven

Jason delivered Sasha and Daisy to their new home, where Robert answered the door and welcomed his daughter and granddaughter with open arms. The friendly atmosphere dropped, however, when Sasha stepped out to change the baby’s diaper, and Robert and Jason were left alone. “Well, I could leave, if you want,” Jason offered. Responded Scorpio: “There’s nothing I would love more, but not before I say thank you.”

Robert thanked Jason for first stepping up for his daughter Robin decades ago and for being a good friend to his other daughter, Sasha, now. “You brought her here, where she and Daisy will be safe,” the former spy said. “Jason Morgan, for all that, I am grateful.”

At first, Jason was his usual stoic self, but then he opened up, explaining how difficult it was for Michael to let Sasha and Daisy leave the country to protect them, but knowing that they’d be living with Robert and Holly (who was off-screen) helped ease the pain. “Michael respects you,” Jason nodded, “and he knows that you’ll keep Daisy and Sasha safe.”

Walking back into the living room, Sasha joked that she was happy to see no punches had been thrown between the two men. With the baby secure in her new crib at her grandparents’ house, Sasha walked Jason out so he could catch his flight back to Port Charles. “Get home safe,” Robert called out, earning a head nod and the slightest hint of a smile from Jason.

Thank You For Being A Friend

Outside the front door, Sasha told Jason with a smile that as she left Daisy in the nursery and closed the door, it hit her that she was no longer on edge, afraid that something would happen to her child. “It makes me feel like I’m doing the right thing, coming here,” she stated, pure joy taking over her face.

“You’re a good mom,” Jason praised. “You put Daisy first, and now you get to spend time with your parents to see what it feels like to be a family.”

When Sasha joked that she hoped she wouldn’t run away from Robert and Holly, screaming, Jason reminded her that she would always have a home to return to, and he was just a phone call away if she ever needed anything. That brought on a wave of tears from Sasha, who choked out that she felt like she was losing her security blanket. Repeating once again that Sasha was going to be just fine, Jason prepared to leave, but didn’t get far before Sasha called her one-time faux baby daddy back for one final good-bye. “That’s from me,” she grinned as she kissed one side of his face. “And that’s from Daisy,” she added, kissing the other cheek. After thanking Jason — and Michael — one last time for all that they’d done for her, Sasha watched her protector walk away and then took a fortifying breath as she prepared for her new life with her daughter.

Happily Ever After

Back inside, Sasha sat down on the couch with Robert, who again professed how thrilled he was to have his daughter and granddaughter moving in. Relaying how terrified she was when Daisy was in danger, Sasha admitted that she hadn’t been sure where to go to keep her daughter safe. “But then it hit me that I had you to call. A dad,” she tearfully declared. “My dad.”

Interrupted by the baby crying, Sasha said she’d be right back, and Robert promised that he’d be there waiting. With a full belly and a clean diaper, Daisy was officially introduced to her grandpa. “So fragile,” an awestruck Robert stated. “So sweet,” Sasha added, sharing a smile with her father.

A Blast From The Past

As Sasha and Daisy bonded with Robert, Jason was scrolling on his phone at a Paris airport, waiting for his return flight home. Just as a boarding call was announced for a flight to Croatia, a woman hurrying through the waiting area to join the flight caught his eye. Standing up to get a better look, Jason was shocked to see who he thought looked exactly like Britt (Kelly Thiebaud)!
