General Hospital Reveals Britt Never Had Huntington’s Disease

Comments

Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) believes she’s slowly dying of Huntington’s disease on General Hospital, but recently some new information came to light calling that diagnosis into question. Then, in the July 2 episode, it was revealed that she never had the condition at all!

Britt’s Fatal Diagnosis Reversed

Since learning in May 2021 that she carried the marker for Huntington’s, Britt has felt like she’s been living on borrowed time. She thought there was some hope when she was offered an experimental medication to keep her symptoms in check. But accepting it meant aligning herself with Sidwell (Carlo Rota) and Cullum (Andrew Hawkes), two dangerous men working to complete a potentially destructive weapon.

The first clue that something was off came when it was revealed on-air in June that the medication Britt had been taking all this time was nothing but harmless saline. That discovery emerged after Joe (Jonathan Bennett) had a sample of the drugs recovered from Britt’s room tested by the PCPD lab.

The full implications of this discovery did not come to light until a tense showdown on the docks at Wyndemere between Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) and Britt’s brother, Cassius (Ryan Paevey). Holding Cassius at gunpoint, Cullum dropped a bombshell. “Britt never had Huntington’s,” he sneered. “Her diagnosis was a lie from the beginning.”

As Cassius looked on in shock, Cullum taunted that the false diagnosis was “fabricated leverage so we could force her into finishing your father’s work. I ensured your sister’s cooperation by manufacturing a fake treatment for a devastating disease she never had,” he gloated. “And it worked like a charm!”

Careful What You Wish For

Britt not having a terminal disease appears to be what Head Writers Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten were hinting at in Soap Opera Digest’s exclusive GH Summer Preview, in which they teased, “A huge revelation gives Britt a new lease on life.”

But after Britt did Cullum and Sidwell’s dirty work for so long in exchange for a treatment she believed was keeping her disease at bay, this new lease on life won’t necessarily eliminate all of her problems.

Indeed, in the summer preview, Korte and Van Etten posed the question, “What kind of life remains ahead of her?”

That’s a question Britt will likely be asking herself when she discovers that she’s perfectly healthy … and must reckon with the reckless choices she made when she believed her life was on the line.
