General Hospital Recap: Willow Blasts Michael, Laura Gets A Shock, Ned Goes Into Surgery And More

Comments

Tensions were high on the November 12 episode of General Hospital as Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) questioned Portia’s (Brook Kerr) professional opinion, and the Quartermaine clan leaned on each other while Ned (Wally Kurth) underwent bypass surgery. Elsewhere in town, Drew (Cameron Mathison) put the screws to Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn), pressuring her to build a case against Michael (Rory Gibson), Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) went off after seeing who her ex was allowing to spend time with Wiley (Viron Weaver), Laura (Genie Francis) prepared for the mayoral debate against Ezra (Daniel Cosgrove), and Professor Dalton (Daniel Goddard) caught Rocco (Finn Carr) spying in his office! Keep on reading for the full breakdown and to find out what else happened.

Waiting Game

Having learned about Ned’s heart attack, Chase and Jason accompanied Brook Lynn to G.H., where they joined Olivia, Emma, Gio, Lulu, and Britt. Brook Lynn frantically asked Olivia about her dad, and Portia arrived to share with the family that Ned was critical, but stable, and she was waiting to see if medication worked to improve blood flow before operating. To Portia’s chagrin, Britt butted in and told the Qs that, based on Lucas’s assessment that Ned’s biggest artery was completely blocked, he’d had a widowmaker heart attack, and she insisted to Portia that they needed to operate immediately. Portia explained to the Qs that the medical team was trying to take a less invasive approach, and when Britt interrupted again to share her opinion, the chief of staff pulled her aside and chastised the fallen doctor for being out of line. Reminding Britt that she was not authorized to treat patients, Portia proclaimed that it was her call to make. To that, Britt pointed out that if it wasn’t for her, Ned might not have made it to the hospital and declared that Portia’s wait-and-see tactic might kill him. Approaching the arguing women, Jason suggested they could all use a breather. He invited Britt to join him at Bobbie’s, and Britt reluctantly agreed.

Meanwhile, in front of the family, Emma commended Gio’s quick response, and Brook Lynn was touched when Gio referred to Ned as “Grandpa.” Portia then came back to share that the coronary angiogram confirmed full blockage, and Ned was being prepared for bypass surgery. She promised Brook Lynn that she’d do everything she could to make sure Ned pulled through before taking Olivia to sign paperwork.

While everyone waited for Ned to come out of surgery, Gio told Emma that he’d had a good conversation with Ned earlier and made some inroads in having a relationship. When he beat himself up for all the time he’d wasted, Emma attempted to comfort her boyfriend, musing that Ned knew Gio had been going through a lot and gave him space. Plus, she added, he shouldn’t count his grandfather out just yet because she was sure Ned was fighting to get back to them.

Over by the couches, Lulu asked permission to sit with Brook Lynn and Chase, not wanting her presence to make things harder since Brook Lynn already hated her. “You’re only half right. Sit down already,” Brook Lynn replied with a small smile. Later, while Lulu went to get them tea, Brook Lynn confided to Chase that she was terrified by the possibility of losing her dad. Her husband joked that the Quartermaines were a ridiculously stubborn bunch and Ned wasn’t going anywhere without a fight, then gave Brook Lynn a comforting hug. Once Olivia returned from the chapel and Lulu returned with the tea, Brook Lynn told them that she needed to thank Britt for saving Ned. Lulu informed them that, according to Britt, Gio had performed CPR until she’d gotten there. Shocked to hear about the measures Gio had taken to save her dad, Brook Lynn caught his eye across the waiting area and mouthed “thank you” to her son. With a small smile, Gio nodded in recognition.

Animal Instincts

At PCU, Rocco, Danny, and Charlotte used the key fob they’d swiped from Britt’s purse to break into Dalton’s lab. But when they turned on the lights, there were no animals inside. Danny wondered if Emma had been wrong about the professor’s animal testing all along, but Charlotte and Rocco determined they needed to search the lab. Once again, they tried to convince Danny to leave so he wouldn’t get in more trouble if they were caught, but he insisted on helping them look for evidence.

After they were unable to find any proof of animal testing, the trio declared the mission a failure and were about to leave when the keypad engaged. Rocco quickly turned off the lights, and the three took cover just before Dalton entered the room. As Rocco, Danny, and Charlotte hid, Dalton worked on the laptop in the dimly lit room. When he couldn’t find a particular file, he complained that Britt had moved things around, then walked over to a filing cabinet. As Dalton neared where Danny and Charlotte were huddled, Rocco opened and slammed a desk drawer to cause a distraction. Standing up to expose himself, Rocco announced that he’d sneaked in and accused the professor of having moved the animals he was illegally conducting tests on. When Dalton recognized him as the mayor’s grandson, Rocco warned that his grandmother would have the professor arrested, but Dalton declared he’d have Rocco arrested for breaking and entering. To take the heat off Rocco, Danny tried to reveal his own presence, but Charlotte pulled him back to the ground. Once Dalton had physically removed Rocco from the lab, Danny blasted Charlotte for stopping him, and she pointed out that Rocco had sacrificed himself to protect them. Knowing that Rocco was in serious trouble, Danny told Charlotte that he knew who could help them.

Meanwhile, in another hall on the PCU campus, Laura was preparing for the mayoral debate when a cocky Ezra approached her, bragging that her friendship with Sonny would be her downfall during their face-off. Martin showed up to offer his sister support and offered to leave if she didn’t want him there, but Laura stated that despite how disappointed she’d been by what he did to Ronnie, she wasn’t going to cut him out of her life. Although he couldn’t stay for the debate, Martin offered to give Laura pointers on how to handle Ezra, noting that his loyalty was to her and not to his client/Ezra’s crony, Drew. Laura confided that she was worried Ezra would spin the fact that she’d appointed Sonny’s son, Dante, as acting police commissioner while Anna was away as a sign she was in the mobster’s pocket. Encouraging his sister to defend her position, Martin had Laura practice her response as to why she’d appointed Dante. Laura expressed her concern that Rocco might get caught in the crossfire between her and Ezra, since the teen was also Sonny’s grandson. Martin assured his sister that her integrity is what made her so popular with her constituents. And if Ezra fought dirty, Martin added, it would just make Laura stand out as the better choice.

After delivering his pep talk, Martin wished Laura good luck in the debate and headed out to meet with Alexis. Later, Laura asked Ezra if they could stick to the issues and not attack each other’s personal lives, and he countered that it wasn’t his problem if her association with Sonny couldn’t hold up to public scrutiny. Laughing when Ezra claimed his personal life was above reproach, Laura invited him to launch all the personal attacks he wanted to, but she’d speak about the issues important to voters. Then, Dalton dragged Rocco into the lecture hall and demanded that someone call campus security. Laura instructed the professor to release her grandson, but Dalton stated that he wanted Rocco arrested for breaking into his lab. Ezra grinned smugly, and Laura was horrified.

Under Pressure

Drew showed up at Miller & Davis looking for Willow, who hadn’t come home after being released on bail, and Alexis informed him that her client said she had something important to do. Drew wanted to discuss defense strategy, but Alexis declined, reminding him that her client was Willow, not him. Irritated when Drew once again threatened to withdraw access to Scout, Alexis relented, stating that she would do everything she could to exonerate Willow. Drew pressed her to confirm that she’d do that by implicating Michael, but Alexis replied that she’d bring up Michael as an alternative suspect, along with anyone else who could have possibly pulled the trigger.

Not satisfied with that answer, Drew raged that he wanted his nephew arrested as soon as Willow was acquitted, and Alexis questioned whether his true priority was freeing Willow or convicting Michael. She bristled when Drew informed her that he’d asked Martin to be her co-counsel. “That way, you can focus on proving that Willow’s innocent and Martin can focus on proving Michael shot me,” he pronounced. Before Drew exited, Alexis warned him that she only had one shot at freeing Willow, and if he insisted on pushing his vendetta against Michael during the court case, there was a good chance Willow would end up in prison for good.

Later, Martin arrived, under the impression that Alexis was on board with their partnership. Frustrated, Alexis explained that she worked for Willow, not Drew, and the best strategy to acquit her client was to introduce numerous suspects, therefore putting the PCPD on trial in the jury’s eyes for rushing to focus on Willow at the exclusion of other potential shooters. Impressed, Martin declared it a solid plan of attack. “I know that,” Alexis scoffed. “Tell that to your boss so he leaves me alone.” Martin agreed to convince Drew to back off but warned that if Drew allowed her to do things her way and she failed to exonerate Willow, there would be hell to pay.

Mommy’s Home

Willow got a shock when she arrived at the Metro Court Garden and saw Michael and Wiley with Jacinda, and she flashed back to the morning she’d found the escort in her and Drew’s bedroom. Spotting his mother, Wiley raced over to hug her. Back at the table, a concerned Jacinda wondered why Willow wasn’t in prison, and Michael mused that she must have made bail. Wiley then brought his mom over, and Michael expressed his surprise at seeing her there. Willow frostily shared that she was expecting to see Wiley at the restaurant with Nina — not Michael and his “friend.” When Wiley introduced Jacinda as his dad’s friend, Willow told her son that they’d already met, tossing in a jab that last time she’d seen Jacinda, she wasn’t wearing nearly as many clothes. Keeping her cool, Jacinda commented that much had changed since then. Willow snarked that it appeared Jacinda was still in the same line of work and was surprised to learn the call girl was now Nina’s assistant at Crimson.

Breaking up the chilly reunion, Michael told Wiley it was time to get home for bed. As he said good-bye to his mom, Wiley revealed that he’d been worried ever since she got taken away, and Willow promised her son that she was never going away ever again. Willow seethed when Wiley asked Michael if Jacinda could go back to the house with them to meet his pet spider and pulled her ex-husband back as Jacinda exited the restaurant with the boy. Fighting back tears, Willow yelled at Michael for exposing their son to a sex worker, then declared that she knew he had framed her. Michael stood silently as she insisted Alexis would prove he’d planted the gun in her room, but smirked before walking away.

Willow called Drew to meet her at the restaurant, and when he arrived, she filled him in on her run-in with Michael. Through tears, she explained that after she’d made bail, she called the Quartermaines to check on the kids and learned from Yuri that Wiley was at the Metro Court Gardens with her mom, but when she arrived, she found Wiley having ice cream with Michael and Jacinda like a pseudo family. Praising Willow for keeping it together, Drew replied that the exchange was further proof that Michael didn’t deserve to have the kids. As Willow bemoaned how unfair it was that Jacinda was able to spend time with her kids while she couldn’t, Drew promised they’d use Michael’s bad judgment against him. He revealed that he’d instructed Alexis to exonerate Willow by building a case against Michael.

I’m Only Here For The Alibi

After putting Wiley to bed, Michael and Jacinda hung out in the Quartermaine kitchen. Michael complimented Jacinda on how great she’d been with Wiley, and how she handled Willow and Nina. Jacinda was concerned that they would use the encounter against him in family court, but Michael wasn’t worried, confident that Willow would be convicted of attempted murder. When she further fretted that her past as a sex worker wasn’t good for his image, Michael noted that he had no issue with her being around the kids and that he’d been planning on introducing her to them anyway. Jacinda scoffed that Nina’s plan really backfired, and Michael began to rant about Nina and Willow before reigning himself back in, muttering that that was what his dad had warned him about. Then he explained that Willow’s selfish actions were a trigger for him, and it was likely that when he got on the stand in court, Alexis was going to push him to trash-talk his ex to the jury. When Jacinda deduced that that kind of reaction would make him appear guilty of framing Willow, Michael proclaimed it was important that he maintain his composure — and it was just as important that she provide him with an airtight alibi. Michael wanted to know if there was anyone who could say they weren’t together the night of Drew’s shooting, and Jacinda insisted she’d spent the rest of the night alone in her hotel room after they’d parted ways. The only people who knew she was covering for him, Michael concluded, were in the room. Then he gently kissed her hand as he thanked her again for helping him out.

Here Comes Trouble

At Bobbie’s, Britt grumbled about how disrespectful Portia had been, especially considering the secret she was keeping for the doctor. Jason felt that Portia was trying to shield both Britt and the hospital from a major lawsuit, but Britt complained that she was a good doctor and hated that she was working as a glorified receptionist. Going off on a rant, she griped that she hated her job, living in a room above Bobbie’s, and Jason for dragging her back to Port Charles when she’d had a cushy gig at the Five Poppies before he ruined it for her. Full of sincerity, Jason told Britt that he was grateful she was in town and had saved Ned’s life. He also confided that he hoped he’d have the chance to thank Ned for keeping the family together through some difficult times over the years, and he appreciated that just as he appreciated all that Britt had done for his cousin earlier. Deflecting, Britt pointed out that Gio had already started CPR, but Jason noted that she’d made sure Ned didn’t die while Gio was trying to save his grandfather, which would have been devastating. Uncomfortable with the praise, Britt sputtered that she really hated it when Jason talked about her like she was a good person, because he was wrong. Looking her in the eye, Jason declared, “I’m not wrong. And you know it.”

Later, Britt retrieved her purse from the waitress that the kids had left it with and joked that she hoped nobody had taken anything. Then, Danny rushed in with Charlotte, begging his dad for help because they’d broken into the research lab at PCU. “Danny and I got away, but Rocco got caught,” Charlotte blurted out, prompting Jason and Britt to share a worried look.
