General Hospital Recap: Nathan Reels Over Maxie, Britt Risks It All for Jason, Marco Confesses
On the Monday, February 16 episode of General Hospital, relationships underwent major shifts. Maxie (Kirsten Storms) struggled to absorb Felicia’s (Kristina Wagner) news about Nathan (Ryan Paevey) having rejoined the land of the living, Nathan tried to process learning that Maxie had come out of her coma, Lucas (Van Hansis) confronted Marco (Adrian Anchondo) about his deception, Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) took a risk to steal time with Jason (Steve Burton), Ric (Rick Hearst) got Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) to let loose and much more. Here’s the scoop on everything that happened.
All Rise
At the hospital, Britt reeled from Nathan’s report that Anna believed their father to be alive. As they began to discuss whether Anna could be right, Liesl burst into the room, practically tripping over herself to deliver the news to Nathan that Maxie had woken up. She urged Nathan to call his wife right away, but an overwhelmed Nathan said that he needed a minute. “Mom, pump the brakes,” advised Britt. Obrecht agreed to back off so as not to overwhelm Maxie but maintained that Nathan and Maxie were meant to be together. Nathan exited to clear his head. Alone with Britt, Obrecht theorized that Nathan was guarding his heart, afraid to hope that he and Maxie would reunite. Britt reminded her mom that she didn’t know what either Maxie or Nathan truly wanted, and got a faraway look in her eye when Liesl spoke about how precious time was.

Mr. Wonderful
After Felicia told her that Nathan was alive and had been living in Port Charles for the last six months, Maxie understandably couldn’t believe her ears. She reminded Felicia that her husband had died right in front of her and had been buried. Felicia understood Maxie’s skepticism but revealed that Anna had proved that it was really Nathan. Maxie was staggered when her mom shared that Nathan’s grave had been exhumed and found empty, then gave her daughter the rundown about what Nathan did and didn’t remember about his life.
Next, Felicia explained that the working theory about Nathan was that Faison was somehow involved, because Britt was also alive. Maxie gasped. “Two of Faison’s kids come back around the same time? That is not a coincidence,” Maxie declared. She asked how Nathan was doing, and Felicia replied, “He’s wonderful. Same old Nathan, concerned about everyone but himself.” She filled Maxie in on the inroads Nathan had made in building a relationship with James. Mom and daughter agreed that Maxie had a lot to absorb. After Maxie dozed off, Felicia got a call from Nathan. She informed him that they were heading home tomorrow and that Maxie couldn’t wait to see him. Nathan looked conflicted.

Alexis sat down at a table at the Metro Court with Kristina and Molly. Molly revealed to her mom that she had written a new book, and Kristina bubbled about how excited Molly’s agent was about the manuscript. Alexis exchanged a concerned look with Kristina when Molly said she had decided not to publish the book. Kristina copped to submitting the book to Molly’s editor without her sister’s consent and blabbed that Molly didn’t want to publish it to avoid hurting Cody’s feelings. Molly defended her decision and blamed Kristina for putting her in such a tricky predicament with Cody by swiping the manuscript in the first place. Alexis excused herself to check in with Scout’s sitter, advising her daughters to work things out. Kristina apologized for interfering, and Molly accepted. They invited Alexis, who had rejoined them, to come axe-throwing with them, but Alexis declined.

Date Night
At the Brown Dog Bar, a beaming Brook Lynn greeted her valentine, Chase, with a kiss and excitedly filled him in about Maxie emerging from her coma. Their conversation circled back to the holiday as they reminisced about their previous Valentine’s Days together. Discussing the romantic predicament Maxie was facing (having to choose between Nathan and Spinelli), Brook Lynn told Chase that she would always choose him. They kissed.

Elizabeth was surprised when Ric took her to the axe-throwing range for their date. He explained that Molly had recommended it as a fun spot, then took out his phone to see if he could get them a table at the Metro Court, implying that she might enjoy it more. Taking it as a challenge to prove that she could be fun, Liz went to grab them drinks. As they toasted, Liz mused that perhaps she needed to make fun a priority. Ric got a bullseye, but lost his footing while celebrating and fell to the ground. Liz rushed to help him, and the two shared a warm and lighthearted moment. Rising to his feet, Ric smiled that he’d forgotten how much he loved Liz’s laugh. She told Ric that she hadn’t had such a fun night in a long time. “Stick with me, kid. We’ll do it more often,” he bantered. “I think I just might,” she replied. Ric leaned in and kissed Liz — which Molly (who had just arrived with Kristina) witnessed.
Jacinda also took Michael to throw axes for their date and she impressed him with her aim. When it was his turn, Jacinda joked that he should envision Drew’s “melon head” as the target. After she beat him, Jacinda teased Michael for being “remarkably bad” at the game. He then lost a bet to Jacinda when he was unable to tell premium and well whiskeys apart and she won a favor to be collected later. Kristina observed their flirty vibe from across the room.

Odd Man Out?
Over drinks with Jason at the Brown Dog, Carly griped about the (in her opinion) overly generous custody deal Michael had struck with Willow, and that Sonny had gotten Ric involved as Michael’s attorney. Carly made it clear that she didn’t buy that Ric didn’t have an agenda. Jason was impressed that Carly was venting to him instead of lecturing Michael and she teased, “I think you’re rubbing off on me.” Jason’s phone pinged; it was Spinelli, telling Jason that he needed to see him. Soon, Spinelli showed up and relayed the good news about Maxie. Carly excused herself to let the men talk, and Spinelli opened up to Jason about his fears that Maxie would go back to Nathan. Jason refused to let Spinelli sell himself short, reminding him that Maxie didn’t settle for him: “She chose you.” Spinelli sighed that she had done so when Nathan wasn’t an option, which he was now. “She might surprise you,” countered Jason. Just then, Jason got an anonymous text featuring emojis of a boat, a snowflake and a heart.

After Jason left, Obrecht sidled up to Spinelli at the bar and ordered a Schnapps. She thanked Spinelli for his devotion to Maxie and her family, then chirped that his efforts were no longer necessary now that Nathan was back in the picture. Spinelli looked stricken, but when Obrecht went on to say that true love always found a way, he said he agreed and they clinked glasses.
Cabin Fever
Britt beamed at Jason when he arrived at the cabin, having successfully decoded her emoji clues about who was messaging him and where to go. Her voice husky with emotion, Britt explained she had contacted him “because time can be stolen from us at any moment and we shouldn’t waste a second we have together.” She moved toward him and they began to kiss, moving toward the bed.
Three’s A Crowd
At the Metro Court restaurant, Jenz bubbled about how happy he was to be spending Valentine’s Day with two such “beautiful and accomplished women” as Lucy and Ava. Lucy made a show of being totally unbothered to be sharing Jenz’s attention with Ava, while Ava was unamused by Lucy’s anecdotes even as Sidwell laughed at them heartily. Ava proposed relocating to the gallery to talk about the art she was trying to acquire for him, but Sidwell stressed how he had hoped for Lucy and Ava to become friends. Switching tactics, Lucy offered what sounded like a very sincere apology to Ava for judging her for her past mistakes (even the ones that were felonies).
Carly arrived and voiced her gratitude to Jenz for welcoming her into Wyndemere so that she and Lucas could mend fences. Sidwell smiled that his son’s happiness was of paramount importance to him, and Lucas was the one who made him happy. Meanwhile, Alexis encountered Ava and observed, “Interesting company you’re keeping.” Ava said that after the “fiasco with Ric,” she was interested in “a different caliber of man. And I won’t let Lucy Coe or anybody else run me off.” Sauntering back to the table, Ava suggested that she and Sidwell head to the gallery to complete his art acquisition. Lucy encouraged them to go without her, and the trio parted ways. Across the room, Carly told Alexis that she respected what she was doing to make sure Scout stayed with her.

Trust Fall
Out on the parapet at Wyndemere, Marco nervously asked Lucas how much he had overheard — and Lucas shot back that he’d heard enough to know “that I had you all wrong.” Lucas followed Marco back inside and demanded answers about the project he and Sidwell were working on. Marco looked ashamed as Lucas called him out for misrepresenting how involved he was in Sidwell’s affairs and noted that it sounded like he had been threatening to kill Britt if she didn’t comply with his demands. His eyes shining with tears, Lucas said, “If I am wrong, tell me right now.” As the conversation grew more heated, Marco tearfully admitted that while his father was the one who was threatening Britt, he had known about it. Lucas said that made Marcus just as guilty, and himself a fool for having believed in him.
Hurt and angry, Lucas hissed that he was an idiot for having defended Marco and for having believed all of his lies. He began to storm out, but Marco grabbed him forcefully and said, “You’re not going anywhere.” Lucas yanked his arm away and Marco swore up and down that he loved Lucas and wanted to build a life with him. Lucas accused Marco of having moved them to Spoon Island just so he could have easy access to his father and the plan they had in motion. Marco told Lucas that for years, he had refused to get involved with his father’s unsavory dealings — but that had changed because of Sonny. “He’s the reason my mother is dead,” Marco cried, and Lucas understood that he had agreed to work with Sidwell because Jenz had promised to deliver him justice for Natalia. Marco drove home his point by reminding Lucas how painful it had been for him to lose his own mother, Bobbie.
Lucas acknowledged that in Marco’s shoes, he would also want justice. But having heard the tone in Marco’s voice when he spoke to Sidwell, Lucas felt that Marco wanted revenge, not justice. Lucas said he wouldn’t be a part of something that ended up with Sonny’s bloods on Marco’s hands. “Which is exactly why I lied to you,” said Marco. Marco told Lucas he wanted him just as much as he wanted vengeance, and Lucas told him that he couldn’t have both. Sobbing, Marco replied, “Then I’ll stop. Please, please stay with me.” He stressed that he had to wait until the project was finished and begged Lucas to believe in him. Lucas took his hand and Marco fell in into his arms — but a haunted look remained in Lucas’s eyes.

Will Lucas regret giving Marco another chance? Is Spinelli right to fear that Maxie will leave him for Nathan? Will Britt’s inability to stay away from Jason cost her in the end? Share your GH opinions and predictions in the comments below!
