General Hospital Recap: Jason’s Shocking Call, Josslyn’s New Husband, Dante’s Discovery and More!

Comments

New information was uncovered in the August 1 episode of General Hospital as Jason’s (Steve Burton) search for Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) led to an unexpected surprise, and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) reported some good and bad news from his investigation to Anna (Finola Hughes). Plus, Felicia (Kristina Wagner) offered Lucas (Van Hansis) some advice, Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) expressed her fears to Sonny (Maurice Benard), Emma (Braedyn Bruner) received a helping hand from Outback and Gio (Giovanni Mazza), and Brennan (Chris McKenna) gave Josslyn (Eden McCoy) and Vaughn (Bryce Durfee) their new assignment… one that left Joss feeling decidedly uncomfortable!

Getting Backup

Jason stopped by Anna’s, and she assured him she had time to chat while she waited for an update from Dante. When he expressed his concern that Britt’s death wasn’t adding up, she once again ran down the events that led to Britt dying from the poison on The Hook’s weapon. But Jason questioned what had happened after that. He revealed that following his conversation with Obrecht about Britt, he checked with the funeral home, and they had no record of the cremation taking place. When Anna wondered if he thought Britt had faked her death and was still alive, Jason responded, “Not only that… But I think I saw her.”

Jason recounted his experience spotting Britt at the airport in Paris and insisted that he was almost positive that it wasn’t just a look-alike. “I don’t know,” Anna admitted with a resigned sigh. “Under normal circumstances, I would say that what you’re describing is impossible. But I knew Britt… and her family. And… I know you. And you’re not given to flights of fancy. So if you say you saw her, well, then there’s every possibility that Britt is very much alive.” Jason was grateful to be believed, and hoped they could work together to locate Britt, but Anna left him deflated when she suggested that Britt may have faked her death to spare everyone watching her succumb to Huntington’s disease — so it might be better if no one went looking for her.

A Surprise Wedding

Josslyn and Vaughn were annoyed to be told they were no longer on the Dalton case and demanded to know why. Brennan informed them that the PCU professor was no longer the primary target now that they’d followed the tracker to the Five Poppies resort in Croatia. He added that he was sending them there to gather intel on the spa and its security, reminding them they were not to try to steal the data in question or intervene in any way. The WSB agents accepted their new assignment, but Josslyn was rattled when Brennan told them that they were going undercover as newlyweds. She quickly tried to protest that it would look suspicious if she up and quit being Dalton’s assistant, and it could put Emma in harm’s way if Emma tried to take her place, but Brennan casually dismissed her concerns and assured her he’d handle things in Port Charles.

Brennan instructed them to get their back stories straight and make their excuses for leaving town — Joss remembered a friend of her grandmother’s in Australia she could visit without making Carly too suspicious — and handed them their wedding bands to try on. After confirming they fit, Josslyn quickly pulled the rings off her finger and stuffed them into her pocket. Brennan handed Vaughn papers with his new identity, and after the young agent took his leave, he turned his attention to Josslyn. Brennan warned her that she and Vaughn really had to sell their cover. “The Five Poppies is the best lead we have,” he ordered. “To get what we need, we need everyone you come in contact with to believe that you and Vaughn are madly in love.” Josslyn squirmed as she tried to hide her visible discomfort.

On the Case

At the Metro Court Pool, Emma was eager to chat with Dalton, but Gio warned that was going to scare him off by acting like a stalker. So, she used Outback to steal the professor’s flip-flop, giving her the opportunity to return it to him and offer her assistance with the summer lecture series. Dalton explained that Josslyn had that all taken care of, so Emma offered her help if he came to need it. Meanwhile, Dante was watching their exchange very intently from a distance. When Emma crossed back over to him, Gio told her she was being too obvious, but she insisted he’d just think she’s the same overeager student she’s always been. But when she presented the key she was going to use to search Dalton’s lab, Gio pointed out that the overeager student needed to be in the front row of the lecture, so he would search the laboratory.

After exchanging polite nods with Gio across the pool, Dante chatted with Kristina for a little bit before approaching Danny to question him about the courier that he and Anna were investigating. Upon seeing a photo of the woman on Dante’s phone, Danny quickly identified her as a customer and that Josslyn was right — she was a very good tipper. Dante was intrigued to learn Josslyn had been there when the woman was. Danny reported that Joss had been meeting with Professor Dalton, pointing him out nearby. The detective was impressed at all the details Danny could recall, including that the woman had a backpack that wasn’t nearly fancy enough for her, and told Danny that he reminded him of his mother, the late Sam McCall. Later, Dante reported back what he’d learned about the courier back to Anna and warned that Emma seemed glued to Dalton’s side.

All in the Family

Sonny arrived for his appointment with Alexis at her office, and she rolled her eyes as he flirted with her receptionist, Suzanne. Once alone, Alexis demanded to know why he’d kidnapped Marco, noting that Kristina would be dead if it weren’t for that man, and now he’d gone and dragged him into his war with Sidwell. Sonny sternly reminded his ex that it was Marco’s father who set fire to Charlie’s and nearly killed their daughter. Alexis warned that if he had killed Marco, Kristina would have been traumatized, ruefully adding that she’s been taking after her dad. “She’s starting to subscribe to your philosophy that the ends justify the means,” the attorney muttered. As Sonny insisted he would do whatever it takes to protect his family, Alexis flashed back to her confrontation with Kristina about her attempt on Ava’s life. Sonny told her she was being overprotective and that Kristina could handle herself. “You’d better hope to God you’re right,” Alexis grumbled. After Sonny left, Alexis was dismayed when Suzanne told her that Ava was there for their five o’clock meeting.

At the hospital, Lucas took Felicia aside for a chat about Bobbie, specifically to ask, “How did my mother ever learn to co-exist with Sonny?” After admitting that Bobbie had only tolerated Sonny at best, she asked what Lucas’s problem was. He explained that he’d turned a blind eye to Sonny because of Carly, but after Marco’s kidnapping, he found it impossible to keep that up. As he expressed his frustrations about Sonny always getting away with his crimes, Felicia offered her sympathies and assured him he wasn’t alone, as she and Mac had always considered him a criminal. Felicia noted that Sonny being family complicated matters. She admitted he’d done some good over the years but said that didn’t erase the bad. Lucas complained that he didn’t appreciate his sister being so dismissive of his new relationship and didn’t know how to stop Sonny from driving a wedge between them. Felicia suggested Bobbie would be happy about his new living situation and romance, but that she also wouldn’t want Lucas to cut himself off from his sister.

Kristina spotted Marco at the pool and went to thank him again for saving her life. She was taken aback to see the bruises and cuts on his face. He maintained his lie about injuring himself while lost in the woods, and she bought it. Talk turned to Natalia, and Marco explained how his mother had reacted badly when he’d come out as gay and eventually took that out on Allie. Reminded of her ex, Kristina opened up about the accident she’d had at the pool where she lost her baby, and admitted that despite the terrible things she’d said and done, Natalia turned out to be good to her in the end. She also insisted that her father had nothing to do with Natalia’s death. Behind them, Sonny arrived at the pool right alongside Lucas, who wondered aloud if Kristina was aware that he’d abducted the man who saved her life. “Lucas,” Sonny intoned dismissively, “do what you need to do.”

Voice From Beyond

In her room at the Five Poppies resort in Croatia, Britt was preparing for a night out and opened her door to ask a man named Pascal for her car to be brought around so she could treat herself to dinner. Pascal suggested she enjoy one of the spa’s fine restaurants, but she declared she was going stir crazy and wanted to go out. Pascal offered to get her takeout, so she reiterated her point about wanting to unwind after all the work she’d done and demanded access to her car. He explained that there were concerns about her driving, and after Britt apologized for the long-ago crash with the donkey in the road, he claimed they didn’t want her drinking and driving. Britt flashed back to being in a car with Jason, scolding her for driving recklessly. She suggested that Pascal get her a driver — the hot one. But Pascal insisted that given her medical condition, “he” believed it was best for her to stay on the property. Britt complained that “he” was just annoyed about her trip to Paris, but Pascal shut her down completely and promised to send up dinner and drinks before stalking out and leaving her steaming.

Later, in his office, Pascal returned Jason’s call to ask “John Law” if he was still interested in booking a room at the Five Poppies. While they were on the phone together, Britt barged into the room and loudly demanded her car keys. Pascal quickly made an apology and hung up, but it was too late. Hearing the familiar voice of the woman he’d fallen in love with on the other end of the line, Jason’s heart stopped.
