General Hospital Recap: Jason Steps Up For Britt, Gio Nearly Kisses Emma, Nina Snaps At Willow And More
Jason (Steve Burton) came to Britt’s (Kelly Thiebaud) rescue once again on the September 16 episode of General Hospital, while Lucas (Van Hansis) opened up to Ava (Maura West) about his complicated history with Dr. Westbourne. Meanwhile, Nina (Cynthia Watros) and Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) got into yet another heated argument, Gio (Giovanni Mazza) and Emma (Braedyn Bruener) nearly kissed, and more! See how it all went down below!
Too Close For Comfort
Gio and Emma went to the Brown Dog to hang up fliers in their efforts to find Outback. Gio revealed he’d considered asking Sonny for money so they could offer a cash reward. When Emma questioned why he wouldn’t ask Tracy for money, Gio said that their relationship had changed since learning she was his great-grandmother. Before knowing their family connection, he shared, he’d earned Tracy’s respect as a friend on his own. But now, he just feels how much she wants him to be her great-grandson, while blood ties never mattered that way to his Uncle Sonny. Emma received a lead about Outback, but it turned out that the caller had only found the dog’s collar. Emma cried and blamed herself for Outback being missing. Gio comforted his friend with a hug. As he gently wiped the tears from her eyes, the two nearly kissed before pulling away awkwardly. Making light of the charged moment between them, Gio said he didn’t buy that Emma was giving up, giving her a second wind to go searching for Outback.

Digital Nomad
Across the bar, Molly invited Liz to meet her for a drink and shared her worries about Ric’s sudden “digital detox.” Liz shrugged that the retreat might do Ric some good. After Molly explained how Kristina had manipulated Ric and Ava’s breakup in the hopes that it would send Ric back to Elizabeth, Liz made it clear that it wouldn’t have worked because she and Ric were better as friends. Molly agreed to stop trying to nudge Ric and Liz back together, but noted that even as friends, Liz was a good influence on her father. Molly even suggested that her dad never would have changed if it weren’t for Liz, but Liz commended Ric for representing Willow pro bono as proof of his personal growth.
With Friends Like These
Kristina updated Ava that Liz bought Ric’s excuse about his time away, but worried that they could be in trouble if Elizabeth went looking for him. Ava shared that they had nothing to worry about: Acting as Ric, she’d copied Willow on Nina’s latest invoice. Once Willow saw that Nina was bankrolling Ric representing her, and that he wasn’t doing it pro bono, Ava mused, Willow would be furious with her mother for interfering, tell Elizabeth about it, and Liz would be mad at Ric for lying to her. “So even if she wants to look for him now, she won’t after that,” Ava summed up. While she praised Ava’s genius plan, Kristina wondered why she risked her friendship with Nina that way. Ava said that she didn’t feel good about outing Nina that way, but their friendship had survived worse, and it was a sacrifice she was willing to make.

Lucas arrived home and was surprised to see Kristina hanging out with his aunt. Kristina covered by thanking Ava for letting her take Avery to dance class, then headed out. As they shared a cocktail, Lucas opened up to Ava about Britt’s resurrection, noting how close she’d been to Brad. After Britt passed away, Lucas added, he lent Brad a sympathetic ear more than once as his ex grieved for his friend — and after every conversation, Brad wanted to meet up. But what if Brad knew Britt was alive all this time, Lucas wondered, and had played on his sympathy to get him back?
Ava mused that Lucas may never know if Brad knew Britt was alive, or maybe even helped her, for that matter. “If he denies it, I can’t believe him. And if he admits it, I still can’t believe him,” Lucas said with a sardonic laugh. Lucas was determined to focus on his present with Marco — and not on his past with Brad — but Ava speculated that Britt’s reappearance might cause Brad to return to Port Charles as well.

Like Mother, Like Daughter
Just as Ava had predicted. Willow went to Nina’s apartment to confront her about hiring Ric to represent her in the visitation hearing. She also wondered if Ric’s “legal advice” to stay clear of Drew, so she didn’t lose Wiley and Amelia for good, came from him or was a directive from Nina. Nina disclosed that she did, in fact, advise Ric to suggest that, since Michael didn’t want the kids anywhere near Drew, and thus Willow needed to steer clear of him. Willow snapped that she would never take advice from Nina, since all she does is lie to her as a way of controlling her. “You hate that you’re not in charge of my life,” Willow seethed. “Neither are you, Willow! Wake up!” Nina roared. “The only person calling the shots is Drew — because you keep letting him!”
As their argument escalated, Nina pointed out all the ways that Drew had manipulated her daughter, but Willow turned things around on her mother, claiming that by not bringing up her own affair with Drew earlier, Nina had stood by and watched as she allowed him to ruin her life. Willow blaming others and not taking any responsibility for her own actions was exactly what people often accuse her of doing, Nina pointed out, but Willow contended that she was nothing like Nina. “You, and your secrets and your lies, have taken everything from me. Well, maybe someone should do that to you,” Willow spat before walking out.

The Babysitter’s Club
Brook Lynn relieved Lulu of babysitting duties for Bailey Lu at Maxie’s house. Before leaving, she informed Brook Lynn that Britt was alive and back in Port Charles, and that Rocco was more curious than ever about the woman who gave birth to him. “I am not proud of this,” Lulu admitted. “Part of me hopes that she’ll be her same awful self so Rocco will want nothing to do with her. Brook Lynn suggested that the bright side was that Rocco knew how much his parents loved him and wanted what was best for him, but Lulu felt trying to keep Rocco and Britt apart would make her the bad guy in her son’s eyes. Brook Lynn also offered to step up more with Maxie’s kids so Lulu could focus her attention on Rocco.
I’ll Be There For You
Finding an upset Britt on Pier 54, Jason wondered what could have happened in just a few hours that made her wish she hadn’t come back to town. Accusing him of keeping tabs on her, Britt wanted Jason to leave her alone, but he said he was there because Danny and Rocco had found a dead body at that pier a few days prior. At the mention of Dante and Lulu’s son, Britt quipped that Rocco was a stupid name — and he’d always be “Ben” to her — and asked Jason to tell her what kind of kid he was. “So, what you’re saying is, he’s nothing like me,” she laughed upon hearing that Rocco was kind, thoughtful, and responsible. Britt teared up when Jason shared that Danny was more adventurous, but they balanced each other out. When Jason added that they were good for each other, Britt stated that if Danny was anything like his father, then she knew he was good for Rocco. The exes shared a heated look before Britt invoked The Britch, snarkily asking why Jason was out in the middle of the night and not at home with his son.

Ever the gentleman, Jason insisted on escorting Britt to wherever she was staying. Since her mother wasn’t happy to see her, and with few other friends to turn to, Britt figured that Brad would take her in. Jason divulged that Brad no longer lived in Port Charles and insisted on finding Britt a place to stay.
A Stable Environment
After James had a bad dream, Felicia took him to see Cody at the Quartermaine stables. Maxie’s son told them that it was his fault his mother got sick, because all he did was make her worry, but Cody and Felicia reassured James that his mom wouldn’t want him to stop having adventures. Cody then offered to help James create a new adventure by riding Comet for the first time, since he’d grown up a bit since Maxie had first said the horse was too big for him. With plans between uncle and nephew made to go riding in a few days, Felicia took James home to go back to bed.

Later, Kristina visited Cody to talk about Molly, but he didn’t want to discuss her. “That’s how I know you still care about her,” Kristina pointed out. The fact that Molly was acting cordial meant that she still cared about him, Kristina pointed out, since nothing scared her sister more than feelings. Cody went off on a rant, declaring that he was going to respect Molly’s wishes before telling Kristina to find her way out of the barn as he exited to do his night check on the horses. “I think the cowboy protests too much,” Kristina smiled to herself. His work for the night complete, Cody sat down with a ginormous sandwich but put the plate down on the bench to grab a beer. When he turned back around, the sandwich was gone — and Outback was outside his door, enjoying the food.
