After graduating from Carnegie Mellon University in 2004, Van Hansis landed the role of Luke Snyder on As the World Turns the following year. After the character came out, his romance with Noah Mayer became popular with fans, and Hansis racked up three Daytime Emmy Award nominations for his performances. Following the end of ATWT, the actor earned additional Emmy nods for his role of Thom on the streaming soap Eastsiders. In 2024, Hansis was cast as the new Lucas Jones on General Hospital.
