General Hospital Recap: Ethan Wants to Work for Sonny, Willow Plots Against Michael
On the Monday, April 20, episode of General Hospital, Ethan (Nathan Dean) had a warm reunion with Kristina (Kate Mansi), Cody (Josh Kelly) and Molly (Kristen Vaganos) celebrated good news, Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) shared the next phase of his plan with Carly (Laura Wright), Sonny (Maurice Benard) provided Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) with a new way to get through to her rebellious grandson, Nina (Cynthia Watros) hired Ric (Rick Hearst) for some legal work, and Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) attacked Michael (Rory Gibson) over his relationship with Jacinda (Paige Herschell). Here’s how it all went down.
Bait And Switch
Carly was shocked to see Valentin enter through the kitchen door, since she thought he was up in the attic. He revealed he’d gone to see Nina, but Carly didn’t think they should trust his ex-wife. Assuring Carly that he’d kept her name out of it, Valentin explained that he was going to have Nina purposely feed Jack misinformation so they could implicate him in Sidwell and Cullum’s project. He detailed that Nina would tell Jack that he and Charlotte have a regular meeting place. Then, when Jack showed up, Valentin would make Jack think he’d almost caught him.
Carly argued that it was a horrible plan, because if Jack actually caught Valentin, she’d be left alone (plus, they’d agreed to shift their focus to Cullum). But Valentin argued that they’d be foolish to waste the opportunity to bait Jack. Carly worried that it was too risky for Valentin to be downstairs because somebody could just stop by. “Right. Somebody,” Valentin replied, implying that she meant Jack. Carly gave him the shaving kit she’d ordered for him, and Valentin sarcastically thanked her before heading back upstairs.

Turnabout Is Fair Play
At Crimson, Willow ordered Michael to keep Jacinda away from their children and hissed that Jacinda didn’t even know how many men she’d been with. Michael shouted back that at least Jacinda was honest with him, which Willow never was. Then, Michael accused Willow of lying to their kids and lying under oath by making everyone believe he’d shot Drew. Willow spat that Michael would regret it if he didn’t heed her warning about Jacinda having access to the kids and stormed out.
Michael apologized to Jacinda for Willow’s behavior, and Jacinda lamented that she wished she’d handled things differently than pushing back against Willow’s anger. Michael praised Jacinda for standing up for herself, assuring his girlfriend that Wiley adored her, which made Willow insecure and jealous. Michael shared that he’d messed up earlier by losing his cool with Willow when he needed to play the long game and give her a false sense of security until he could get leverage against her. Michael sighed that they’d agreed to the 60/40 custody split before Willow took over Drew’s congressional seat, so if they went back to family court now, he’d likely lose time with the kids because of the public perception that he’d gotten away with shooting Drew. When Michael said he needed to find something to use against Willow, Jacinda shared that Jack Brennan had offered to give her information that would help Michael deal with his ex if she managed to get Valentin’s location out of Charlotte.

Preemptive Strike
Nina hired Ric to prepare a battered-woman’s defense for Willow, just in case it might someday be needed. She asked him to look into the possibility that, because of the trauma Willow has suffered during her time in the Dawn of Day cult, she wasn’t legally responsible for her actions. Ric noted that Alexis could have argued that in Willow’s trial, but instead, she created reasonable doubt by making a case for Michael being the shooter. Then Ric realized that what Nina wasn’t saying was that Willow had shot Drew.
Ric warned her that double jeopardy applied to the attempted murder charge, but if Willow had done something to Drew since the trial, the charges could be used to show a pattern in a new case. When Nina said she was hoping that such a defense wouldn’t be needed, Ric advised that she could be charged as an accessory if she had reason to believe Willow was going to commit a violent act and did nothing to stop it. And because of his newly mended relationship with his brother, Ric added, he wouldn’t represent Willow if she did anything to harm Michael. Just as Nina assured Ric that her daughter and Michael were in a good place, an angry Willow burst through the door and told Ric to inform Michael that she was coming for him and his “rent-by-the-hour hooker girlfriend.”

Kids Stuff
At Pozzulo’s, Alexis wanted to know why Sonny hadn’t told her himself that Danny wanted to join the mob but sent Ric instead. Sonny explained he didn’t want to get into a fight with Alexis about it, so he thought the news would be better coming from Ric. Alexis replied that she would have been mad had Sonny taken Danny into his organization as he had with Jason all those years ago. Sonny pledged that he would never bring his or Jason’s children into the business.
Although relieved to hear Sonny say that, Alexis worried that Danny would find another way to avenge his father’s arrest. Sonny suggested that if Alexis convinced Danny that he needed to stay out of trouble to continue seeing Scout, Danny might drop his quest for payback. Agreeing that it wasn’t a bad idea, Alexis then told Sonny to come to her directly next time there was an issue, rather than send Ric as his messenger.

Next, Alexis grumbled that she didn’t understand why Sonny had hired no-ethics Ric to be a second lawyer when he already had Diane, just as Ric walked into the office. Alexis told the brothers that she was worried Ric would get caught up in Sonny’s illegal activities, and it would ultimately compromise Molly’s reputation in the District Attorney’s office. Sonny replied that there was nobody more qualified than Alexis to make sure Molly’s reputation didn’t suffer, then announced that he and Ric had somewhere to be.
Job Fair
Ethan went to see Sonny, but instead reconnected with Kristina, who was there babysitting Donna. They reminisced about how Ethan had saved her when she was dating her abusive boyfriend, Kiefer, but she’d turned around and blamed him for hurting her. They also chatted about the crush she’d subsequently developed on him. Kristina joked that Ethan was no longer her type, and they agreed it would be nice to be friends. She updated him about her new enterprise running Charlie’s, and how she’d nearly died when someone set fire to the bar. Kristina then asked Ethan why he’d come back to town. He explained that he’d wanted to visit with family, and since he could use some steady work, thought he’d see if Sonny needed his help now that Jason was away. Later, Sonny arrived home with Ric in tow. While Sonny was thrilled to see Ethan, Ric gave a dubious look to Luke’s son.

Champagne On Ice
Cody accompanied Molly to G.H. for her follow-up with Dr. Navarro. While they were waiting, Molly got an email from her editor that the changes to her final manuscript had been approved, so Cody offered to take her out to celebrate after her appointment. Dr. Navarro gave Molly a clean bill of health, including no signs of endometrial cancer, and gave her the all-clear for sex. Once she and Cody got to Café Cherie, Molly gushed over how great she felt. The couple toasted to their future, and Molly suggested that rather than having an extravagant dinner, they finish their champagne and head back to his place for a private celebration.

Risky Business
Back at Nina’s, Willow told her mom that she didn’t want Jacinda spending time with her children, and that she’d confronted Michael’s girlfriend at the Crimson office. Willow cried that she didn’t know who Jacinda had been with or what she was capable of, and she refused to let her kids be exposed to the kind of depravity she’d had to deal with in Dawn of Day. Talking her daughter down, Nina pointed out that Wiley and Amelia were surrounded by people who loved them — including Michael — which was completely different than how isolated Willow had been in the cult with only Harmony.
Unconvinced, Willow declared that she’d go back to family court as Congresswoman Cain so Michael would be forced to defend his choice of girlfriend to the judge. Nina reminded Willow that someone had witnessed her shooting Drew, she was being pressured by Sidwell, and she was drugging her husband — and if any of those things came out in family court, Willow would lose the children. Acknowledging that her mother was right, Willow declared that she’d have to find another way to deal with Jacinda and Michael.
