General Hospital Recap: Cullum Tracks Valentin to Carly’s as Brennan Bargains with Willow

Comments

The Tuesday, June 16, episode of General Hospital had several characters telling lies, one trying to tie up loose ends, and another accepting a grim future. Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) lied to Tracy’s (Jane Elliot) face and stood by Chase (Josh Swickard), Jack (Chris McKenna) bartered with Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) and Nina (Cynthia Watros), Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) found himself defending “Nathan’s” (Ryan Paevey) actions, and as Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) and Carly (Laura Wright) prepared for him to return to prison, Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) got new intel on the WSB’s most wanted fugitive! Here’s how it all went down.

Tell Me Lies

Chase and Brook Lynn brought Tracy home from the police station. Lying to her husband, Brook Lynn told Chase that she agreed Tracy went too far with Willow. Hurt, Tracy retorted that she’d evict anyone else in the family for not believing her, but she refused to lose her granddaughter over the situation. After Tracy stormed out, Chase defended his decision to arrest Tracy to his wife, and Brook Lynn claimed that she understood he’d had a duty as a cop to slap handcuffs on her grandmother. She then declared that she had no doubts about Chase and would do anything to protect their relationship.

Meanwhile, down by the boathouse, Michael filled in Jacinda on the altercation between Tracy and Willow. Sharing his theory that Willow faked the push for Chase’s benefit, Michael hoped that Brook Lynn would see through Willow’s act, dump Chase, and then adopt Phoebe as a single mother. Tracy arrived and vented to Michael about how Brook Lynn had told Chase she believed Willow’s side of the story. Complimenting his cousin for being a convincing liar like the rest of the family, Michael huffed that Chase loved Brook Lynn despite her Quartermaine qualities and not because of them. Tracy proclaimed that Brook Lynn would be better off without Chase, and Michael nodded in agreement.

Let’s Make A Deal

At Turning Woods, Willow explained to Jack that since Sidwell was now a fugitive, her supply of the paralytic drug she’s been using on Drew would soon run out. A worried Nina rushed in and updated Willow and Jack that Aunt Liesl had seemingly vanished; she hadn’t been spotted in any of the Metro Court security footage in more than a week. Willow informed her mom and Jack that Tracy had tried to intimidate her, but it had backfired. Jack was impressed that Willow had framed Tracy and had come out on top by appearing gracious in letting Tracy off the hook.

As the trio circled back to the dwindling supply of the paralytic, Willow pointed out that she couldn’t go to Cullum directly for the drug. Nina wanted Jack’s blackmail leverage against Drew immediately, before Drew recovered. Noting that the evidence that Drew had misappropriated campaign funds was in his private safe in the WSB office and that he was the only one who could access it, Jack told Nina and Willow that they needed to get him up and on his feet before Drew started talking and turned them in.

One Last Kiss

Valentin declared to Carly that he needed to travel to Geneva to speak with Z, the head of the WSB, about Cullum being a double agent — it was the only way to save Josslyn and stop Cullum from taking the dangerous cold fusion device online. Carly cried that she didn’t want Valentin to sacrifice himself by turning himself in to the organization hunting him, but he said that he couldn’t risk Cullum intercepting the message, so the meeting with Z had to be in person.

When Carly wondered why Jack couldn’t do it, Valentin countered that Jack was incapacitated. Besides, his and Carly’s original plan to frame Jack as the head of Pikeman and then clear Valentin’s name was no longer in play, because they now needed Jack to back Valentin up about Cullum’s illegal activities. Knowing that revealing himself to the WSB meant he was likely going back to prison, Valentin asked Carly if she’d have Charlotte over so he could say good-bye, and the two then headed to Carly’s bedroom and made love.

Good Cop, Bad Cop

At the PCPD, Dante and Justine questioned “Nathan” about Sidwell’s escape. Acting D.A. Turner did not believe Cassius’s cover story that he was ambushed by Sidwell. Once “Nathan” left the interrogation room, Justine shared her apprehension with Dante about having Det. West (with a seven-year memory gap) and “bad cop” Chase (whom she was still held responsible for interfering with the Willow Cain case) on the force.

Dante defended both officers, pointing out that any issues he’s had with Nathan were of a personal nature, not a professional one. He suggested that Justine take any accusations about Nathan’s negligence up with Internal Affairs, but Justine was mostly concerned that Nathan and Chase’s behaviors would reflect poorly on Dante as commissioner. Later, Dante reprimanded “Nathan” for the way he’d botched the prisoner transport and warned that while Turner had backed off for now, she’d go to IA if there were any further issues. “Nathan” apologized for the way he’d handled the situation with Rocco, but Dante said that he was grateful that “Nathan” had been there for his son.

Later, Joe asked “Nathan” about the syringe found in Britt’s room. Cassius lied that his sister was private about her Huntington’s disease, so he didn’t know if she was taking any treatments for her illness. Joe then followed up with a phone call to the forensics department, requesting to know exactly what drug had been in the syringe.

Hiding In Plain Sight

Speaking with one of his WSB associates in the Wyndemere study, Cullum wondered if Sidwell had been working with Valentin all along, and if the fugitive was still in Port Charles. Wanting to tie up loose ends, Cullum suggested they encourage the FBI to get involved in the search for Rocco and Britt, planning to kill them both once they were located.

With the only other threat to the cold fusion project being Anna Devane, Cullum ordered his colleague to track the location of the person who’d called the private clinic pretending to be Kevin Collins. When the agent came back with a report that the call had originated from a cell tower near Shoreline Road, Cullum realized that Valentin might be hiding out at Carly’s house.
