General Hospital Recap: Chase Pushes Willow to Sue Lulu as Sonny Suffers Another Blow
On the Friday, October 9, episode of General Hospital, the fallout from The Invader article trickled through Port Charles as Chase (Josh Swickard) urged Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) to strike back, Sidwell (Carlo Rota) lied to Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), and Anna (Finola Hughes) provided insight to Justine (Nazneen Contractor). Elsewhere in town, Stella (Vernee Watson) gave Monet (Blythe Howard) a piece of her mind, and Gio (Giovanni Mazza) broke news to Sonny (Maurice Benard). Here’s everything that happened.
Belief System
Believing the Quartermaines had planted the story in The Invader, Chase wanted Willow to sue Lulu and the paper for libel. Knowing that everything in the article was true, but not wanting to tip off Chase, Britt told Willow to make a statement denying Sidwell’s allegations and leave it at that.
After Britt left, Chase insisted that Britt was wrong; they had to fight back against the Quartermaines by forcing Lulu to retract the bogus story. Willow hedged that she was hesitant to drag Chase into her mess when he had his own problems with the Qs. Chase, however, was adamant about stopping the Quartermaines from bulldozing her. “Trust me, it’s not just for you,” he declared. “It’s for both of us.”
Eating Crow
In the PCPD interrogation room, Justine told Dante she was willing to prosecute Willow, provided she could confirm Sidwell’s allegations were true, and she wondered why Drew wasn’t quoted in the article.
Anna arrived at the station, and Justine was eager to get her Anna’s expertise as a former WSB agent. Knowing that Anna was struggling with her mental health, Dante was wary about involving her, but Anna ended up having valuable information about a WSB cocktail that could cause locked-in syndrome.
Dante headed to G.H. to get a statement from Sidwell, and Justine apologized to Anna for previously accusing her of being biased toward Sonny. No longer trusting herself to be objective, Justine asked Anna to look over the evidence on Curtis and Sidwell’s assaults and see if there was a case to be made against Sonny.
Escape Route
Isaiah and Tristan updated Sidwell on his prognosis following open-heart surgery. Sidwell revealed that he’d been having vivid dreams, and Isaiah explained that was a side effect of the heavy painkillers. Isaiah made a comment about both Curtis and Sidwell heading back to Pentonville. Sidwell ominously replied that plans could change.
Britt stopped by Sidwell’s room to fish for information about his explosive interview with Lulu. Sidwell — who thought he had hallucinated his conversation with Lulu — was shocked to learn about the article in The Invader. Connecting the dots, Britt deduced that he got the paralytic from Cullum, who took it from the WSB, and she offered Sidwell an out.
Next, Dante arrived to get a statement from Sidwell about the piece. The prisoner insisted that Lulu’s article was nothing but lies.
Change of Address
Before she went to the PCPD, Anna had tea with Emma at Bad Jen Café and was thrilled to learn her granddaughter was getting an apartment with Gio. As Emma explained the issues with Gio and Sonny regarding Curtis’s beating, a supportive Anna told Emma to have her boyfriend’s back.
Over at Sonny’s house, Gio told his grandfather he was getting a place with Emma, and Sonny wondered whether Dante had influenced him. A torn Gio wasn’t sure he believed in Sonny’s innocence, but insisted it was his decision to move out. Sonny understood why everyone believed he was guilty and didn’t want Gio to feel caught in the middle.
When Emma arrived, she let Sonny know that she believed he was guilty of ordering the beating. Sonny declared that he would prove his innocence, for Gio’s sake. On his way out the door, Gio said he no longer needed his grandfather’s help finding a new music manager, which devastated Sonny.
Family Skeletons
Stella welcomed Portia back to G.H. on her first day after maternity leave. Portia was appreciative that Stella and Marshall would be babysitting Des while she worked. When Isaiah joined them, Portia picked up on the tension between him and Stella. Later, Isaiah told Portia that he felt it was best for the family if he limited his interactions with Des to the weekends. Portia made it clear that as her partner, Isaiah had a place in her life and Stella and Marshall had to accept that.
Curtis told Monet that he had no idea Jordan had a half sister because she’d rarely spoken about her family, and he’d discuss it with his girlfriend when he returned from Germany. Curtis then questioned Monet’s angle in purposely not disclosing her connection to Jordan. Monet replied she’d wanted to present herself to him as a capable lawyer first because Jordan always viewed her as the little sister who couldn’t do anything right.
When Stella entered his room, Curtis introduced Monet as Jordan’s sister. A suspicious Stella escorted the lawyer out and noted that if none of them had known Jordan had a sister, Monet must be up to no good. Stella and Curtis agreed they didn’t trust Monet, but Curtis felt that he had nothing to lose by retaining Monet since she’d have to prove her worth.
