General Hospital Recap: Anna’s Kidnapped, Sam is Mourned, Nathan Makes A Big Decision and More
Halloween — and the first anniversary of Sam’s death — continued on the November 5 episode of General Hospital, which was full of tricks and treats. Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) supported Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) as he grieved a year gone by without his mom, while Kristina (Kate Mansi) and Molly (Kristen Vaganos) did the same for Scout (Cosette Abinante). Plus, Anna (Finola Hughes) was abducted following an intense conversation with Jason (Steve Burton) about Faison, Gio (Giovanni Mazza) guided Tracy (Jane Elliot) to the realization that she’d acted too harshly, Sonny (Maurice Benard) served Justine (Nazaneen Contractor) a meal and a warning, and Nathan’s (Ryan Paevey) decision about James (Gary James Fuller) was exactly what Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) and Felicia (Kristina Wagner) were hoping to hear. Keep on reading to see how it all unfolded.
Caught In The Axe
Sonny rented out the Throwing Club for a private dinner with Justine, but changed the menu from her requested pizza with olives to lasagna. She teased that he, the town’s alleged crime boss, set a trap for her, the acting district attorney, by luring her to a place with sharp weapons and no witnesses. When Justine missed the target on her first throw, Sonny joked that she threw a hatchet like she had horribly played softball and teased her about coming to his team’s games. She quipped that she had to make sure he wasn’t cheating — and just because she hadn’t caught him didn’t mean he didn’t cheat. Stepping closer, Sonny whispered that he managed to slip through her fingers.
Later, as they ate dinner, Sonny wanted to know if he was forgiven for trapping Justine so she wouldn’t prosecute Michael. She proclaimed that it was a moot point since the PCPD was pursuing a case against Willow, so there was no need for her to recuse herself. Sonny urged her to do so anyway, but Justine didn’t want to hand off a high-profile, career-making case to an associate, especially since she was sure she would win. Sonny reasoned that Alexis would make her out to be an overblown prosecutor out to make a name for herself, and if Justine won, she would incur the wrath of Congressman Cain for sending Willow to prison.
Justine called Sonny out on his attempt to protect her, theorizing that he was instead working an angle to get Willow exonerated and the case shelved. Sonny reminded her that it was no secret that she wanted to take him down — and she couldn’t do that if she lost her job. Although Justine acknowledged that Sonny had a point, she had no intention to step down. She was a damn good prosecutor who would beat Alexis in court, she said, and she’d find a way to placate Drew. Then, Justine picked up a hatchet and lined up in front of the target. “When I put my mind to something, I can overcome any odds,” she declared before tossing the axe and hitting the bullseye.

All Tied Up
Summoning Jason to her office, Anna asked him to find out from Britt if Faison was still alive. Growing teary, Anna divulged that after being tormented by Faison for years, she’d finally felt relief after his death — but now that familiar unsettled feeling was back in the pit of her stomach. “Like Faison’s presence is closing in on me,” she shuddered. Anna relayed that she carried guilt for the madman’s reign of terror on Port Charles in the past, and that she needed to be the one to finish him if Faison was still alive. Then, Jason revealed that he’d asked Britt the night before if her father had a connection to the Five Poppies, but they’d been interrupted before she answered him. Promising to follow up with Britt, Jason also reminded Anna that he’d been the one to shoot Faison, and it was not a staged act. “So, you can trust me when I tell you that that man is dead,” he attested.

Still unsure, Anna compared Nathan’s shooting to Faison’s, but Jason pointed out that Nathan was young and healthy while Faison was older and dying of Huntington’s. Anna sighed that her PTSD when it came to Faison consumed her and caused her to lose all rationale. Jason then wondered if Sidwell and his associates were purposely using the threat of Faison to mess with Anna’s mind and keep her distracted. Before Jason left to go pick up Danny, Anna thanked him for talking her down. Later, the commissioner got in her car and left a phone message for Jack, sharing her theory that Sidwell and his associates were using Faison as a smokescreen. After Anna started the car, a gloved hand reached across from the backseat and covered her mouth with a handkerchief, causing her to pass out. The commissioner came to in an empty room, handcuffed to a metal chair! As she screamed for help, a man’s voice came through a speaker, informing her with a European accent that she was on her way to a new life. Scared for her life, Anna screamed “No!” and tried to break free of her restraints.

Good Mourning
With Halloween being the first anniversary of Sam’s death, Molly and Kristina tried to cheer up Scout, who didn’t want to celebrate even though Halloween had been her favorite holiday. They convinced their niece to watch Hocus Pocus, and Kristina helped Scout decorate pumpkins while Molly ran out to get a surprise. When Scout confided that she liked hearing stories about her mom — especially since Drew only ever talked about Willow — Kristina promised that she could talk about Sam with her aunts and grandmother any time. She also gave her niece a pep talk, reassuring her that her mom was watching over her and she was never alone because the Davis girls stuck together.
Meanwhile, Alexis called Danny to her office. She worried that she’d ruined his Halloween plans, but the teen explained that trick-or-treating reminded him too much of losing his mom. Alexis praised him for being so strong for his sister, but urged him not to hide his grief. Danny insisted that he was fine, and it was Scout they needed to worry about since Drew had isolated her. Danny confided that he felt like he’d let his mom down since he’d promised her that he would look out for his little sister. While Danny blamed himself for the mess with Drew, Alexis pointed out that his uncle’s anger stemmed from the fact that Danny reminded Drew of Jason. Then, Alexis and her grandson tearfully remembered Sam, and she assured the teen that his mother lives on through him and his sister. She also shared the traits he had in common with Sam and that she’d be proud of the young man he’d become. When Jason arrived to pick him up, Danny gave Alexis a bag of Sam and Scout’s favorite candy to give to his sister. Once alone in her office, Alexis broke down in tears. Out in the hallway, Danny asked his dad where they’d be sleeping now that Drew owned the house, and Jason informed his son that he had good news on that front.

Green-Eyed Monster
After taking James trick-or-treating, Spinelli and Felicia took him to Bobbie’s to meet Nathan, but the kid rushed past his father to show Cody his Halloween loot. After Felicia made introductions between the men, Nathan picked up on the bond between James and Cody and returned to his table, disappointed that his son wasn’t as excited to see him. Sitting down across from Nathan, Felicia reassured her son-in-law that James was eager to get to know him as well, but advised that the boy needed time to adjust. Once Spinelli joined them, Nathan acknowledged his jealousy over James’s relationship with Cody but said that he was grateful his son had so many people surrounding him, especially with Maxie gone. Spinelli took the opportunity to announce that it was “imperative” that they not disrupt James’s routine, prompting Nathan to ask if Spinelli wanted to know if he planned to enforce his custody rights. Spinelli and Felicia were relieved when Nathan revealed he had no immediate plans to do so, feeling that neither he nor James was ready for that.

At another table, James offered Cody all his lollipops, knowing they were his favorite. Cody suggested they share some with his dad, but James wanted to finish sorting his candy first. Spotting Molly at the counter, Cody called her over, but when he noticed Nathan looking over to them, he made up an excuse to leave. Standing up and grabbing the box from her hands, Cody offered to escort a confused Molly to her car. On their way to the door, they stopped at the other table, where Molly was reintroduced to Nathan, and Cody reminded James to share his candy. Once outside, Molly grabbed the box of cupcakes back, demanding to know why Cody was acting so strangely. He shared that he’d felt Nathan was upset that James was ignoring him, so he was looking for a reason to leave when Molly had walked in. Complimenting him for the thoughtful gesture, Molly apologized for immediately assuming the worst of him. When Cody joked that he’d done some stupid things, Molly praised him for his considerate and heroic measures, like rescuing her dad from the woods, which made him uncomfortable since it was all a lie. Before taking off to bring the cupcakes to Scout, Molly promised that she was looking into a way to stop the sale of the Quartermaine estate, so Cody informed her that “Q Manor” was no longer being sold.

Remembered Forever
Back inside Bobbie’s, James gave Nathan a grape lollipop, remembering from the hospital that it was one of his father’s favorite flavors, and invited his dad to go trick-or-treating with him next Halloween. Then, Spinelli, Nathan, Felicia, and James celebrated Maxie’s birthday, with James making a wish on his mom’s behalf. As Cody watched through the window from outside, James blew out the candle on the cake, wishing that his mom could be with them.
Molly returned to Alexis’s house with the Halloween cupcakes, which looked a bit smushed after Cody manhandled the box. When Molly told Scout that she’d seen James at the diner with his family, Kristina teased her sister about having seen Cody there as well. Later, Alexis arrived home and gave Scout the gift from Danny and, in honor of her mom, Scout shared the candy with her grandmother and aunts.

Solo Act
Gio went to the Quartermaine mansion to help everybody pack and learned that not only had the sale to Drew not taken effect, but that Tracy was the rightful owner of the estate after all. Looking around the quiet room, Gio wondered why they weren’t all celebrating, and Tracy revealed that she’d kicked the family out for siding with Ronnie. Although he understood why Tracy was upset, Gio stressed that Ronnie had corrected her mistake before any permanent damage was done and suggested that Tracy cut Ronnie some slack. However, Tracy declared that if the family didn’t accept her decision, they could find someplace else to live — and that left more space at the mansion for Gio to move in now that his parents no longer resided there. Tracy let that subject drop when Gio insisted he was fine living at Sonny’s, but when he theorized that Monica left her the house because she’d trusted that Tracy could hold the family together, she laughed in her great-grandson’s face.

Despite Gio listing all the way she’d recently stepped up to protect the family, Tracy contended that she was just always up for a good fight and wasn’t the glue that held the family together. Gio reasoned that all the others had asked her to do was acknowledge that Ronnie was a part of the family and be a little nicer. “But that’s not picking her over you,” he reasoned. “That’s expecting you to act with generosity. Because that’s what the head of the family does. And whether you’re ready or not, you are the head of the Quartermaines now.”
Tracy still tried to deny that she was now the matriarch, but eventually conceded that she needed her family. “And so do you,” she advised her great-grandson, who nodded in agreement. Then, Jason and Danny arrived home, and Danny wondered where everyone else was. “I don’t know. But hopefully they will all be home soon,” Tracy pronounced, sharing a smile with Gio.
