General Hospital Comings & Goings Shocker: Wes Ramsey Returns as Peter August!
On the Friday, January 23 episode of General Hospital, tortured heroine Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) woke up in her cell to a most unexpected — and unwelcome — sight: her dead nephew, Peter August! Peter was once again played by Wes Ramsey, who originally starred on the show from 2017 through 2022.
Ghost Story
Ramsey’s run on GH ended when Peter was killed by Felicia (Kristina Wagner), who struck him with a tire iron to stop him from harming her daughter, Maxie (Kirsten Storms). Not only that, but instead of summoning an ambulance, Anna watched Peter die, determined to make sure that her dangerous relative was no longer a threat. After all, Peter is the son of the notorious Cesar Faison (Anders Hove), who himself cheated death multiple times.
In a new interview with TV Insider, Ramsey shared the offer to come back to the show for these scenes with Hughes was “a pleasant surprise” and mused that it “made a lot of sense that Peter would be a symbolic manifestation of Anna Devane’s guilty conscience, based on some of the things she’s gone through in her life.” He spoke highly of the chance to reunite with Hughes, beaming, “The greatest gift and the gift that keeps on giving is any time I ever have an opportunity to work alongside her. She instantly inspires me, and I always know when we get together that we’re going to have a lot of fun.”
Faison was a hot topic in the scenes between Anna and Peter. As an understandably rattled Anna tried to convince herself that her eyes were playing tricks on her, Peter coolly insisted not only that he was truly there, but that soon, Faison would be, too! As regular watchers know, Faison’s voice has been piped into Anna’s dingy quarters over an Intercom in recent episodes, with Anders Hove supplying his vocal talents to the scenes. Anna also recently hallucinated an encounter with Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati), who is the mother of Faison’s two other children, Nathan (Ryan Paevey) and Britt (Kelly Thiebaud). Peter’s mother is Anna’s late twin sister, Anna Devane, also played by Hughes.
These aural and visual hallucinations appear to be the deliberate handiwork of Pascal (Marc Forget), who is acting on orders from Sidwell (Carlo Rota) and his partner, Cullum (Andrew Hawkes). The men have been working hard to stop Anna from derailing their efforts to complete Faison’s mysterious final project, a mission that is clearly very dangerous and potentially very lucrative for the villains!
Ramsey told TV Insider that he would be up for making more appearances. “Peter was certainly a controversial figure in the world of GH lore,” he noted, “and I’m always open to anything that comes along in the future.”
While Peter has been absent from the screen for nearly four years, Ramsey’s off-camera personal ties to GH remain strong: He and Laura Wright (Carly) have been real-life romantic partners since 2017.
