General Hospital Recap: Peter August Returns To Haunt Anna And Britt Dumps Jason!

Comments

On the January 23 episode of General Hospital, Anna (Finola Hughes) woke up to a whole new nightmare when she found Peter (Wes Ramsey) in her room! Meanwhile, Emma (Braedyn Bruener) and Gio (Giovanni Mazza) sought help from Nathan (Ryan Paevey) in finding her grandmother, Britt’s (Kelly Thiebaud) performance with Carly (Laura Wright) only managed to raise Jason’s (Steve Burton) suspicions rather than convince him they were over, Chase (Josh Swickard) and Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) discussed their future, and Josslyn (Eden McCoy) hung out at Wyndemere with Lucas (Van Hansis), Marco (Adrian Anchondo), and Ava (Maura West). Here’s how it all went down.

And… Scene

Jason interrupted Britt and Carly’s squabbling at Bobbie’s. Stating that Carly had reminded her why she’d never come first in his life, Britt demanded that he pick between them, leaving Carly baffled by the accusation. When Jason refused to answer, Britt claimed his non-answer was his choice, then ripped into him for always putting Carly before her. Proclaiming that she thought she could forgive him, but she couldn’t, Britt ordered Jason to stay away from her, then grabbed her purse and left the restaurant.

Carly got defensive when Jason wanted to know what she’d said to Britt. She told her best friend that she’d held back when Britt started pressing buttons, and Jason sighed that after one conversation with Carly, all of Britt’s insecurities were back when things had been fine between them earlier. When he wished Carly believed that he could love her and still have room for somebody else, she proclaimed that she never asked Jason to choose, and their friendship was in a better place now than when she’d needed constant reassurances about her place in his life in the past. Carly added that even if she didn’t agree with it, she respected his choice to date Britt, just like he respected the choices she’d made. Suspicious of Britt’s about-face, Jason was determined to find out why she’d tried to pick a fight with Carly and left.

Collateral Damage

Rocco was cleaning up the art therapy room at G.H. when Cullum entered. After a few questions about the teen’s community service, Cullum asked where Dr. Britt Westbourne’s office was. Meanwhile, Britt arrived at the hospital after her blow-out with Carly and Jason and panicked when she saw Cullum speaking with Rocco. Entering the room, Britt pretended that a nurse had told her someone was looking for her. Ross introduced himself as a WSB Director and strongly squeezed Britt’s hand during their handshake. After some small talk with Rocco about his community service, Britt brought Cullum to her office.

Once in the privacy of her office, Britt asked Cullum why she’d seen him with Rocco twice in one day, and he stated that he was trying to prove a point because he could access the teen at any time. He implied that since Rocco was involved in a high-profile break-in, the WSB could take him into custody. Shouting that Rocco was innocent, Britt begged Cullum not to hurt him. She then revealed that she’d ended things with Jason and promised to go to the Wyndemere lab that night. Informing her that consequences would no longer just be possibilities, Cullum warned Britt that she better comply — for Rocco’s sake as well as her own.

Baby Steps

Chase shared with Brook Lynn that, following his Internal Affairs investigation, he’d been demoted to patrol officer. Calling the demotion a wake-up call that he’d been hyper-focused on his career, Chase declared he wanted to revisit their adoption plans, but Brook Lynn worried he was deflecting the loss of his detective badge. Chase confided that he often thought about them becoming parents, yet acknowledged that he was thrown by the demotion, even though he had been right about Willow all along. He explained to his wife that he could take the detective exam again in the future if the department decided he’d met the standards, and that Dante told him to take some time to think about what he wanted to do. Brook Lynn chuckled that she’d understand if Chase told the PCPD to shove it, and she’d support him no matter what he decided. In the end, Chase said that he’d rebuilt his career once, and he would do it again, but he also wanted to build a family with her. Brook Lynn agreed that she wanted that, too, and then they kissed passionately.

Trust Fall

Gio took Emma to the PCPD to speak with Mac, but since he was out on a call, Nathan offered to help them. Although Emma didn’t want to burden Nathan, Gio pressed her to share her concerns about Anna’s prolonged absence. They moved into the interrogation room, where Emma and Gio explained that Anna’s radio silence was odd and that Felicia and Robin hadn’t heard from her, either. Emma noted that her mom wasn’t concerned, since Anna was known to go off the grid while on assignment, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong and had even asked Jack Brennan to look into Anna’s whereabouts. While Nathan stepped out to see if the PCPD had any updates, Gio commended Emma for taking the steps to find out if Anna was in serious trouble and comforted his girlfriend while she cried. Returning to the interrogation room, Nathan informed Gio and Emma that there was nothing in the PCPD’s current records about Anna, but he’d try to find her. “One way or another, we will get answers. And I know exactly where to start looking,” Nathan promised.

Happy Hour

Lucas brought Josslyn back to Wyndemere with him for drinks. They found Ava in the living room, martini already in hand after getting help from Marco to measure for Jenz’s new artwork. Weirded out by Ava playing hostess of the manor, Joss suddenly “remembered” that she had to watch Donna and tried to leave, but Ava stated she had her dates mixed up since Donna and Avery were both with Sonny. Unable to exit, Joss agreed to a glass of wine, and Ava accompanied Marco to the wine cellar to retrieve a bottle. Joking about Josslyn being unable to make a clean getaway, Lucas thanked her for sticking around and putting up with his aunt Ava. He also thanked her for getting to know Marco better and supporting their relationship, unlike her mother.

Declaring that he was hungry, Lucas went off to find them something to eat, since Pascal the butler wasn’t around to wait on them. Alone in the living room, Josslyn began poking around. When Ava caught her in the act, Joss claimed that she was being nosy since Wyndemere was such a wild place and she didn’t think living there suited her uncle. Since Lucas had lived there with his mother as a child, Ava likened it to a homecoming of sorts, but Josslyn thought that a year ago, Lucas would have said “home” was wherever his family was. That response prompted Ava to say that people can make their own families, and she and Josslyn shared many people they both loved. Telling her to drop the act, Joss replied that aside from Avery, the only person Ava cared about was herself. When Ava scoffed that Josslyn shared the same judgmental attitude as her mother, Joss insisted she never pretended to be above anyone else, and Ava couldn’t stand it that she saw Ava for who she was. Maybe, Ava acknowledged, but everybody played a bit of pretend now and then. “I suspect even you,” Ava accused, her comment hitting the secret WSB agent hard.

Marco and Lucas then came back with a few bottles of wine. After a few pours, Lucas announced they should all go check out the catacombs, since he hadn’t been down there since he was a kid. Marco tried to deter his boyfriend by claiming the tunnels were cold and damp, but when Lucas and Josslyn stood up to go explore, Marco jumped to his feet and shocked them when he declared, “Absolutely not.”

Like Father, Like Son

Downstairs in Anna’s quarters, she woke up to find Peter standing over her bed! Taunting his “Auntie Anna,” Peter asked if she’d grieved for him when he died, then teased that no one in his family stayed dead. Anna shouted that he wasn’t real, but Peter mockingly replied that his father would be so disappointed in her for denying what was right in front of her. “I held your hand, and I watched you die,” Anna insisted. Needling her, Peter countered, “Did you? Or was it just another one of my father’s tricks? He had so many. And he’s fooled you before.”

Next, Peter told Anna that Faison had waited so long to show himself to her, but it was almost time for his father to reveal himself. Shouting at him to stop talking, Anna squeezed her eyes closed and covered her ears as she rocked back and forth. Opening her eyes again, she demanded to see Faison right then, but Peter claimed that his father would appear when he was ready. Begging her tormentor to put an end to the mental anguish, Anna cried out to Faison, “Show me your face. Just come here!”
