General Hospital Alum Evan Hofer Scores a Primetime Gig — Get the Details on His New Job
Fans of General Hospital were saddened when Dex Heller was killed off in December 2024, marking the end of Evan Hofer‘s tenure in the role of Josslyn’s (Eden McCoy) love interest. Now the actor is returning to ABC, having landed a new gig on one of the network’s prime-time shows.
From Day to Night
Hofer will be seen this week when he makes a guest appearance on 9-1-1: Nashville. The actor teased his new role by posing next to an outdoor display of an advertisement for the ABC series and posting the photo on his Instagram, asking fans, “Watch 9-1-1: Nashville Thursday Night? Love, E.” Fans who miss the 9:00 p.m. ET airing of the episode can also stream it on Hulu starting the following day.
Premiering in 2025, 9-1-1: Nashville is the second spinoff of the popular 9-1-1 series and follows the lives of emergency responders in the Nashville area. It stars Chris O’Donnell, Jessica Capshaw, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, LeAnn Rimes, Michael Provost, Juani Feliz and Hunter McVey.
The episode airing on Thursday, February 26, at 9:00 p.m. ET, is titled “Don Begins,” and reveals through flashbacks how a devastating house fire changed the life of O’Donnell’s character, firefighter Captain Don Hart. It will also show how he met his ex-girlfriend, Dixie, and current wife, Blythe. Also, the team at Station 113 of the Nashville Fire Department races to rescue a cyclist pinned to a tree after being struck by a car.
While there are no details as to what role Hofer will be playing in this episode, the guest cast also includes another popular daytime alum: Hunter King (ex-Summer, Young and Restless) will be seen in flashback scenes as the younger version of Capshawl’s character, Blythe, opposite actor Ben Winchell’s Don.
Hofer made his daytime debut as Dex on GH back in May 2022. Dex started out working with Michael (then-Chad Duell) to take down Sonny (Maurice Benard), a sticky situation that only got stickier when he fell in love with Michael’s younger sister, Joss. Dex ultimately became a cop, only to be murdered by the villainous Cyrus (Jeff Kober).
