General Hospital: 6 People in Big Trouble After Jack Brennan’s Death

Jack Brennan’s (Chris McKenna) death was confirmed in the Tuesday, September 1, episode of General Hospital when the body floating in the Metro Court Pool was identified as the WSB chief. His unexpected demise could also leave several Port Charles residents facing consequences they never saw coming. From Ava (Maura West) — who drugged Brennan — to Drew (Cameron Mathison) — who ordered her to do it — whose life is most likely to be upended now that Brennan is gone?

Ava Jerome

In order to get Drew’s help taking care of Sonny (Maurice Benard), Ava reluctantly agreed to distract Jack while Drew searched the WSB chief’s hotel room. Unfortunately, that included slipping Jack a sleeping pill that may have inadvertently led to his death. Desperate to cover their tracks, Ava and Drew then decided they needed to dispose of the body. Ava had been warned that getting mixed up with Drew would be a bad idea, but she may soon view it as the biggest mistake of her life. Making matters worse? Ava was seen with Jack in public — on the pool deck, no less — shortly before he took his last breath, which could put her in the PCPD’s crosshairs if an investigation into his final moments ensues.

Drew Cain

Desperate to get his hands on the evidence that Jack was holding over his head (that he embezzled federal funds and diverted them to his Congressional campaign), Drew went to great lengths to sabotage the hotel’s security system so he could break into Brennan’s room undetected while Ava distracted the WSB chief. Drew wasn’t able to get his hands on the evidence, so Jack’s death may have him breathing a sigh of relief — at least temporarily. But that evidence could be discovered if Brennan’s death gets investigated — and Ava knows it exists, information she could use against him to save her own neck.

Nina Reeves

Nina (Cynthia Watros) may have begun a romantic relationship with Jack, but she was also seen publicly threatening him at the Metro Court Gardens shortly before he died. And among those who witnessed her outburst was Carly (Laura Wright), her sworn enemy, who would probably love nothing more than to implicate Nina as a potential suspect in a murder investigation!

Willow Tait

Publicly, Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) was helping Jack by using her seat in Congress to help push through funding to the WSB. But privately, she was only doing so to keep Jack from exposing that she was the one who shot and subsequently drugged Drew. When Jack threatened to reveal the truth if she didn’t come through with the money the WSB required, Willow recorded him on her phone for use as future leverage. She was counting on having the upper hand with a very powerful man; instead, that recording could link her to Jack in a way that would be of great interest to investigators.

Josslyn Jacks

Jack recruited Josslyn’s (Eden McCoy) to the WSB and was her boss at the bureau — and he sometimes bent the rules to protect her. Losing him as her superior will be a blow, but Brennan’s death could also complicate Joss’s mysterious new assignment. He recently ordered her to take over as CEO of her father’s company, Jasper Jacks Enterprises, even though he couldn’t explain why the WSB wanted her in the position. Now that Brennan is dead, could Joss begin to wonder if his death is somehow connected to the assignment? And as a WSB agent, will she be able to investigate his death officially, or will she have to go off the books?

Charlotte Cassadine

Charlotte (Bluesy Burke) was already traumatized after swimming directly into Jack’s corpse. However, things could get even worse if the bracelet she lost at the pool is discovered tangled in the cuff of Brennan’s jacket. Even though Brennan was an enemy of her father, Valentin’s (James Patrick Stuart), it’s unlikely anyone would ever suspect the teen of being responsible for Jack’s death — but if that corpse turns up with her jewelry on it, she’ll still have a lot of explaining to do. And she’ll have to keep Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) out of it so no one learns that he was with her when they came upon — and promptly fled — the crime scene.
