“I guess how awesome it was! I remember I was in a room with only Marnie [Saitta, casting director], and it just felt like a really constructive experience. It was collaborative and she was working with me. It wasn’t like most auditions, where you go in and do your thing and then walk out.”

“First, that I had the most fun I’ve ever had in an audition and second, when I was in the waiting room, there were other girls — one of them was a friend of mine — and when every girl went in, I prayed for each and every one of them. I said, ‘I want this person to do their best.’ That was the first time I had the least amount of worry. I’ve tried to take that on for every audition since then, because that’s what made a difference.”

“When I auditioned in 2015 [for the one-day role of Young Pat, Luke’s sister] with Tony Geary [ex-Luke], I didn’t
know who he was! Of course, I learned pretty quickly what a big deal he is, but I’m glad I didn’t know it at the time because I would have been intimidated.”

“How comfortable
it was. You’d think the audition process would be super-nerve-wracking, but the way they held the casting sessions, it made the person auditioning feel comfortable. It was such a good experience coming in. I immediately felt at ease, and even when I had the chemistry read with Adain Bradley [Xander], he was very kind from the moment I met him. It was a great process.”

“As an actor, I tell myself, ‘Whether you have one line or you’re the star, fill it. Make it rich.’ Ian Buchanan [ex-Duke] was in the scene and I told myself, ‘You have a history with him. He means something to you,’ to make it three-dimensional. I was in the room with Frank [Valentini, executive producer] and Mark [Teschner, casting director], and I went in a black turtleneck and a dark suit — almost creepy in my wardrobe — and I was telling myself, ‘I am Dr. Liesl Obrecht.’ ”

“Y&R was my first audition for a TV show in a long time, and all I knew about soap operas was catching some of GENERAL HOSPITAL while my mom watched it every day. I read one-on-one with the casting director at the time, and I remember her stopping me mid-scene and saying, ‘Finally, someone reading this character the way it should be read.’ I never thought in a million years that I would get this part but at that moment I thought I had a really good chance.”

“When I
auditioned,
the producers in charge, Ed Scott and Wes Kenney, were both present along with casting, and I felt from the beginning like a ‘favorite’. Whether I was or not is less important than the feeling I was given by those men. It helps you do your best work when you think you are being rooted for somehow. That was a standout to me.”
