The 411
A GENERAL HOSPITAL and ONE LIFE TO LIVE fan from childhood, Nancy St. Alban immediately thought about acting on soaps when a friend mentioned that she had found a small, private school that specialized in acting. After attending the Baltimore Actors' Theatre Conservatory and graduating from Syracuse University with a degree in musical theater, St. Alban moved to Manhattan, where she landed several ad campaigns. Her first big break came when she appeared in the indie drama Some Fish Can Fly. The movie didn't do well at the box office, but St. Alban received accolades for her performance. Guest stints on the former WB show D.C. and ALL MY CHILDREN soon followed. While her brief stint as Nurse Kelly had St. Alban questioning her daytime dreams, when GUIDING LIGHT hired her to play Michelle, she revisited her ambition to perform on a soap.
Although working at GL made her nervous, St. Alban credits co-stars such as Grant Aleksander (ex-Phillip), who was also raised in Maryland, for helping her fit in. When she wanted to learn more about the previous Michelles, the show edited two tapes of all the important events in the character's life. Paul Anthony Stewart (Danny) also gave her a typed synopsis of "Manny's" history.
St. Alban's professional life was about to take off and her personal life also got a boost when she was set up on a blind date with Chris Puleo, a photographer. He wasn't exactly her type, but they started dating and became engaged less than a year later.

Memorable Quotes
I did nine episodes of AMC. I played Nurse Kelly, and I was taking care of Mateo's wife.... Then I was Jake's girlfriend.... It was a ridiculous role; I didn't enjoy it. And then I didn't audition for a soap for a long, long time."— On her first soap experience, Soap Opera Digest, 6/26/01
"I didn't know if we had what it takes to be married. But how do you ever know that until you do? This sounds so corny, but I figured that I loved this guy more than anything in the world, and couldn't live without him, so I said, 'Yes.'"— On accepting her husband's proposal, Digest, 6/26/01
"I ask all the mothers on the show, actually."— On who she asks for parenting advice, Digest, 6/29/04
