THE 411
John Callahan admits to a handful of great loves — his wife, his daughter, his work and golf, golf and more golf. The Brooklyn born and Long Island bred 6-footer first thought about a career as a lawyer, and paid for his college tuition by working as a bartender and as nightclub managers. Callahan soon changed his mind and focused on an acting career. He started with stage roles in The Taming of the Shrew and The Rainmaker at the Berkeley (Calif.) Stage company. He then began working in television with guest gigs on such '80s classics as THREE"S COMPANT, MURDER SHE WROTE, FANTASY ISLAND and HOTEL. He nabbed a recurring role on OUR FAMILY HONOR, then caught the eye of daytime where he has been happily and steadily employed for 20 years. Callahan won an Outstanding Leading Actor Soap Opera Digest award in 1998 for his role as Edmund. He was also nominated for Soap Opera Digest awards in 1997 (Outstanding Leading Actor), 1995 (Hottest Male Star) and 1994 (Outstanding Supporting Actor).
