Sally Spectra’s Rocky Romantic History on Bold and Beautiful and Young and Restless

When Sally arrived in Loa Angeles in 2017, looking to revive the Spectra fashion brand, she found an unlikely ally in Thomas Forrester, then played by Pierson Fodé i. Although Thomas was a part of the rival fashion family, he also felt like an outsider and happily switched sides to work with Sally. He not only worked as a designer for Spectra, but also invested in the company so Sally could keep Bill Spencer from stealing their office building. Business soon turned to pleasure, but things got complicated when his ex, Caroline Spencer, returned to town with their son, Douglas. Thomas remained faithful until Caroline revealed she was dying, at which point he left Sally to spend Caroline’s last days with her and their son (not realizing that it was all just a lie cooked up by Bill to split them up).

Late in 2017, Sally was able to heal her broken heart thanks to Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) offering a shoulder to cry on, and then he did even more for her when he took over at Spencer and tried to give her back ownership of the Spectra offices. Unfortunately, Bill still owned the structure and was intent on demolishing it, despite Liam joining the Spectras to protest. Believing no one was inside, Bill set off the explosives and trapped Sally and Liam in the rubble. Believing they were going to die, Sally confessed she’d fallen for Liam and they shared a kiss. Unfortunately, Sally was unable to compete with the other women in Liam’s life and was disappointed when he reconciled with Steffy Forrester.

After briefly reuniting with Thomas and leaving town with him, Sally returned to LA in 2018 to reveal that he’d left her for Caroline again. She drowned her sorrows alongside Wyatt Spencer (Darin Brooks), and the two kicked off an unlikely relationship. They were doing fine until his ex, Flo Fulton, came to town, and Wyatt began waffling between the two women. After Sally was told she didn’t have long to live, Wyatt returned to her side, but it was all just an elaborate lie Sally had cooked up! She kept Flo prisoner, hoping to get pregnant with Wyatt’s child so they could be tied together forever, but the plan fell apart, and although Wyatt declined to press criminal charges, Sally left LA in shame.

In 2020, Sally settled in Genoa City, where she found herself drawn to Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), and the two began growing close. His son, Kyle Abbott, didn’t like Sally, so he and his girlfriend, Summer Newman, went to LA to dig up dirt on her past. When Phyllis Summers also tried to warn Jack away from his new friend, Sally feared that her scandalous past would eventually come out and decided to come clean herself. Having learned the whole truth, Jack naturally put the brakes on their budding relationship. Later, he began to soften towards Sally, but upon learning she was responsible for driving Summer out of town, Jack wanted nothing more to do with her.

When Sally got a job working for Newman Media in 2021, she and Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) were immediately drawn to each other, though they were reluctant to mix business with pleasure. They eventually gave in to their feelings, but then the business got in the way. After Adam was made CEO of Newman Enterprises, he promoted Sally to CEO of Newman Media. But when Victoria Newman took over the family business, Adam was shown the door, and Sally was heartbroken when he dumped her so she wouldn’t get dragged down with him.

In the summer of 2022, Sally found herself falling for Adam’s brother, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), and the pair impulsively had sex in the office. They opted not to try to define their relationship but to keep it casual. Still, when Adam tried to win her back, she decided to stay with Nick. But they did end up saying a final farewell by sleeping together, and when Sally found herself pregnant, she wasn’t sure who the baby daddy was. The daughter Sally was carrying turned out to be Adam’s, but sadly, the child (who Sally named Ava) was stillborn. Unfortunately, Sally later told Nick about sharing a kiss with Adam, and though she insisted she was falling in love with him, Nick dumped her.

Sally and Adam reunited and rang in 2024 together, and she even managed to remain friends with Nick. She moved in with Adam, and things were looking solid, but then he began spending more time with his ex, Chelsea Lawson, as they dealt with their son Connor’s OCD diagnosis. Sally and Billy Abbott — who was dating Chelsea — began to suspect that their partners were hiding something from them. While Chelsea confessed to Billy that she and Adam had slept together, Adam tried to keep up the lie, which infuriated Sally. She walked out on him and refused his desperate attempts to apologize and get back together.

As 2024 went on, Sally and Billy (Jason Thompson) bonded over being betrayed, and she even offered to decorate his new apartment for him. After sharing a drunken kiss, they both agreed that things shouldn’t go further than that, but as time went on, they grew closer and closer and eventually consummated the relationship. Unfortunately, mixing business with pleasure once again proved disastrous as Sally agreed to head up Abbott Communications with Billy, only to find their startup derailed by Cane Ashby. Plus, Billy’s obsession with regaining control of Chancellor left Sally feeling like she would never be the priority in his life, so she walked out on him.
