Hunter King Debuted on Young and Restless as Summer and More Big Events From October 15

In 1985, Jon Hensley debuted on As The World Turns as Holden Snyder, whose pairing with Martha Byrne's Lily Walsh would become one of the show's signature couplings. Hensley joined ATWT after a brief run on One Life To Live, where he played Brody Price. His first stint in Oakdale lasted through 1989; he returned later that year and stayed until 1995, then returned again from 1997-2010, when the series was canceled. 

In 1999, Jason Cook made his daytime debut as Shawn-Douglas Brady on Days of Our Lives, later going by just Shawn. Shawn, the son of supercouple Bo and Hope Brady, had been born on the show in 1987. Cook played the role through 2006, with a reprisal in 2015, and was part of a popular pairing alongside Kirsten Storms as Belle Black. Cook went on to work alongside Storms again on General Hospital, where she played Maxie Jones, and, from 2008-12, he played Dr. Matt Hunter.

In 2008, Ryan kicked down Greenlee's (Rebecca Budig) door on All My Chidlren and declared that they belonged together, despite the fact that he was married to Annie and she had recently tied the knot with Aidan. Later, alone with her father, Jackson Montgomery, Greenlee admitted to him that she was in love with Ryan and not her husband. He advised her to give her relationship with Aidan another chance, but Greenlee told him that her marriage was over.

In 2012, Hunter King joined the ranks of Young and Restless in the role of Summer Newman. She would go on to play the role on and off through 2022 and won Daytime Emmys in 2014 and 2015 as Outstanding Younger Actress for her work as Summer. In 2013, she recalled to Soap Opera Digest how she came to be cast on the show. “I didn’t actually audition because I had worked with Jill [Farren Phelps, then-executive producer] on Hollywood Heights [as Adriana]," she explained. "I was coming from a vacation in Miami with a friend and when the plane landed in L.A., my mom had called to say, ‘Jill wants you to come to Young and Restless.’ Then I had another voicemail from the show that said, ‘We need you to come to wardrobe in two days.’ I had no idea that Jill would want me. It came from out of the blue."

In 2024 on General Hospital, Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) got unexpected news from Dr. Terry Randoph, who had summoned her to the hospital for a meeting. At the time, Lulu Spencer was in desperate need of a life-saving liver transplant, and her loved ones were praying for a miracle that a donor match would be found in time to save her life. Lo and behold, Sam — who, at the time, was in a serious, live-in relationship with Lulu's ex-husband, Dante Falconeri, proved to be that match. Sam's status as Lulu's donor set the stage for the tragic twist the tale took when, after donating part of her liver to save Lulu, Sam took a turn for the worse and died, which turned out to be the handiwork of a deranged Cyrus Renault, who had injected her IV stream with digitalis.
