Five Things That Happened On June 5 Soap History

Unaware that a baby switch was afoot, Jason Morgan told Samantha McCall that her newborn son had died on General Hospital, Billy Abbott and Victoria Newman held a commitment ceremony on Young and Restless, a DNA test proved (at least temporarily!) that Luna Nozawa was Bill Spencer’s daughter on Bold and Beautiful and other memorable moments that took place on soaps on June 5.

In 2009 on Bold and Beautiful, Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) was floored when Ridge Forrester (Ronn Moss) revealed their marriage wasn’t valid, the result of a paperwork snafu involving their license that Ridge's aunt Pam Douglas was responsible for. Brooke was not thrilled when she found out that Ridge had known this for a while. "Ridge, how long were you going to keep me in the dark?" she grumbled. He downplayed the importance of the issue, enthusing, "Think of it this way. It's just an excuse to do it all over again. The wedding, the honeymoon, everything." A bonus honeymoon sounded good to Brooke, who quickly brightened.

In 2012 on General Hospital, Todd Manning (Roger Howarth) tried to come clean with his ex-wife, Téa Delgado (Florencia Lozano), about the sad fact that her baby had died, and the baby she thought she had just given birth to actually belonged to Sam McCall — but, true to form, he chickened out. Opposite this, Jason Morgan broke the news to a devastated Sam that her baby had died. She refused to believe it and demanded that Jason show the baby to her. When she held Téa's stillborn son in her arms, Sam insisted to Jason, "This isn't my baby." She was, of course, correct, but it would take months for the tangled baby lie to unravel.

In 2015, General Hospital's “Denise DeMuccio” confirmed to Silas Clay (Michael Easton) that she was really Ava Jerome (Maura West). Ava, who had been presumed dead, had been posing as Denise, Ava's faux long-lost twin, in order to spend time with her children, Kiki and Avery, but Silas, her ex-husband, saw through her ruse.

In 2019 on Young and Restless, former spouses Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) renewed their commitment to one another with a "non-wedding" ceremony held at Society. Victor, Nikki, Jack, Traci, Nick, Kyle and Summer were among the guests. Billy earned appreciative chuckles from the crowd as he addressed Victoria by saying, "Yes, we have been married. We have been not married. We have been together and apart. All of it feels like a journey to this moment right here. And I know we've done a version of this at some point. But nothing feels as right as not being married to you today." The only thing marring the festivities? The arrival of the very-much-uninvited Phyllis and Adam.

In 2024 on Bold and Beautiful, a DNA test indicated that Luna Nozawa (Lisa Yamada) was indeed the biological child of Bill Spencer (Don Diamont). While this was later proven false (it turned out that her bio dad is John "Finn" Finnegan), the development was music to Bill's ears — and to his portrayer's. In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Diamont noted, "I am thrilled! Thrilled for the character, thrilled for me as an actor. I think Bill having a daughter is just wonderful, and may be a way for him to right some wrongs from different points in his life, particularly his, when Bill was introduced to the show as the ultimate playboy and misogynist.”
