In 1984, Charles Shaughnessy made his Days of Our Lives debut as Shane Donovan, who was originally introduced as an undercover operative posing as Larry Welch's butler. The actor recalled to Soap Opera Digest in 2023, "My audition for DAYS was to play a man called 'McShane, Mystery Man' who was terrorizing Hope in a basement. I went in with a leather jacket and jeans and stubble, looking more like Patch than Shane, as this Cockney thug terrorizing Hope and it was great fun. Then they cast me and made me this incredibly good guy." Shane's pairing with Patsy Pease's Kimberly Brady made Shaughnessy one of the show's most popular leading men during his original run, which ended in 1992.

In 2003, Matt Bomer (pictured with Aubrey Dollar as Marina Cooper) exited Guiding Light as his character, Ben Reade, died by suicide. Bomer joined the show in 2001 and went on to become mega-successful on prime-time (Chuck, White Collar) and in movies (Magic Mike, Superman: Unbound).

In 2009, Bold and Beautiful's Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) interrupted Ridge Forrester and Taylor Hayes' wedding on in horseback, despite Steffy's machinations to keep her away so that her parents would successfully remarry. By the time Brooke arrived at her destination, she was disheveled, and the minister was about to pronounce Ridge and Taylor husband and wife. But Brooke barged in and declared, "There isn’t going to be a wedding today!”

This kicked off the multiyear arc in which Nelle convinced Michael that their newborn son had died, when in truth he had been switched with Willow's son with Shiloh, who Brad and Lucas had been poised to adopt, and had sadly passed away. Eventually the boy was returned to Michael, and Willow adopted him.
