Mark Lawson (Dustin, GH): “Maurice [Benard, Sonny, r.] because I was expecting him to always be Sonny. I grew up with soaps in the background on [TV] my whole life. He’s always been Sonny! To have scenes where he gives you the stare-down, you know when he’s turning it on and when he’s just Maurice. But when he turns it on, it’s scary! It’s like being on the set with Dracula.”
Victoria Konefal (Ciara, DAYS): “I’d say Billy [Flynn, Chad] was someone that I had to get to know to really know his true colors. It took some time for me to get close to him. Initially, he was very quiet and reserved around me and didn’t really open up to much. Over time, I found Billy to be one of the sweetest, most charming men on the show. But initially thought he was very cold and quiet.”
Scott Clifton (Liam, B&B): “Jacqui [MacInnes Wood, Steffy], for sure. Jacqui was obviously so beautiful but I didn’t work with her a lot when I first came on the show. She seemed unapproachable, but she was very nice. She was never mean to any- body but she just seemed like somebody you would never really get close to — and now, she’s like my ride or die. She’s my B&B queen. She’s, like, the closest person I have on the show. I know all her secrets and she knows all mine, and she is so far from inaccessible. She’s got a terribly dirty sense of humor. She’s a klutz. She’s totally vulnerable emotionally. She is extremely human, and that’s just one of the things that makes her such a special person.”
Alison Sweeney (Sami, DAYS): “The obvious answer is [the late] Joe Mascolo because I used to watch the show before I came on, so I was really afraid of him. I remember very clearly the first scene I had with him, Sami was a candy striper. There’s some sort of waiting or visiting room or something and Stefano had stolen Sami’s diary and I remember having this very brief scene with him where I was so intimidated and just afraid of him. He was hilarious in real life. I never heard him speak without his Stefano accent for, I’m not kidding, like, 10 years. I kind of didn’t even know what he really sounded like.”
Eileen Davidson (Ashley, Y&R; ex- Kristen et al, DAYS): “I assumed that Joe Mascolo [ex-Stefano] was this mean and gruff guy, but he turned out to be just a big teddy bear. And very funny.”

Heather Tom (Katie, B&B): “I guess I’d say Ronn Moss [ex-Ridge]. Even though I’d worked with his [then-] wife Shari [Shattuck, ex-Ashley, Y&R], I felt like he had this swagger about him. He’d walk down the hall and he always had his scarves and maybe you’d think he could be an arrogant person — but, there was none of that at all. I just didn’t know him. He is actually the sweetest guy.”
Mishael Morgan (Amanda, Y&R): “Christel Khalil [Lily, r.], I thought she hated me ... turns out she did [laughs]. She completely mistook my sarcastic humor and thought I was being rude. I didn’t find out until a year later and now we’re best friends.”
