Young and Restless’s Sharon Case Promises ‘Powerful’ Drama in New Noah Storyline (Exclusive)
Sharon and Nick finding their son, Noah, gravely injured after a car accident on Young and Restless is just the start of a dramatic new storyline that will soon introduce the new Noah, Lucas Adams (ex-Tripp, Days of Our Lives) — and Sharon Case (Sharon) tells Soap Opera Digest that she’s loving every second of it. “We have new sets,” she enthused. “We have a new Noah. It’s going to be visually great and fun. We have a lot of other new cast members, too; we’ve got Tamara Braun [Sienna] here, and Roger Howarth [ex-Austin, General Hospital]. We’ve got a lot coming up. It’s gonna be a big storyline. And once it starts, it doesn’t stop. It takes good twists and turns, and the story keeps going.”
Rebuilding the Family
While Noah is back on the Y&R canvas (albeit in a medically induced coma with his face wrapped in bandages following that horrific car crash), Adams’s debut is the role right around the corner: viewers will see him for the first time on November 4. And Case reveals that she and co-star Joshua Morrow (Nick) actually helped with the show’s selection of the new Noah, last played by Rory Gibson (now Michael, GH).
“Love new Noah!” Case raves. “I did a screen test along with Joshua for some new Noahs. We picked a good one. We’ve started taping with him, [and] he’s a really good actor. We’re sorry to see Rory go, but Rory is just tearing it up on General Hospital. He’s right where he belongs. I’m glad to see that happen for him. It all ended well. We have a good new Noah, and everybody’s happy.”

While the brunette Gibson and the blonde Adams look quite different from one another, Case believes that both actors could plausibly pass for the offspring of Sharon and Nick, and notes that making sure the trio of actors looked like they could be related was important in the casting process. And despite Adams’s established daytime pedigree (he earned two Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Younger Actor for his work on DAYS), he was one of several performers in contention for the role and had to perform in front of network execs to land it. “When there’s going to be a big audition for a main character, we have this little theater at CBS and all the top brass goes and gets in the theater and watches it,” the actress explains. “So in that case, they kind of want one of the vets to do the scene with the person trying out. You want it to turn out right. And they kind of like to see [how the combination of actors reads on screen]. If it’s Sharon and Nick’s son, they want to see us paired together. You know, how do we look standing there together?”
Sharon and Nick have already been growing closer over time, and now bringing their son back onto the canvas will only help strengthen that family bond. “It’s great to circle back to that,” Case says. “It’s a really great idea. But we also have a great storyline coming along with it. So that makes it very exciting and interesting. We’ve got powerful stories.”
