William deVry Addresses General Hospital Return Rumors
William deVry is speaking out about the latest rumors that he is poised to make a General Hospital comeback as Julian Jerome. In an Instagram Reel touting several upcoming TV appearances he’ll be making, the actor made it clear that returning as Julian is not in the cards. “I am not coming back to General Hospital,” he declared.
William deVry Won’t Be Returning to General Hospital
Various clickbait headlines and videos have cropped up recently suggesting that Julian Jerome, the morally complex mobster deVry played from 2013 through 2020 and whose romance with Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) was a fan favorite, will soon return to Port Charles. Similar rumors have circulated from time to time in the nearly six years since deVry departed GH.
In deVry’s final arc on the show, Julian appeared to die a definitive death by soap standards. After Julian was forced by Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) to plan and detonate a bomb at the Floating Rib that led to two deaths and the long-term coma of Lulu Spencer (then-Emme Rylan), he fled to New York City and was shot by one of Cyrus’ goons. Julian then tried to escape to Canada and wound up struggling with a gun-wielding Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) on a footbridge. Julian took another bullet just before the bridge collapsed. His corpse was recovered and was shown zipped up in a body bag on camera.
Though he has been dead for years, Julian still has key connections in Port Charles, among them his sister, Ava Jerome (Maura West), his son, Lucas Jones (Van Hansis), his ex-wife, Alexis, and his grandchildren, Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn) and Scout Cain (Kayden Brenna Tokarski).
Reflecting on his time on the show, deVry told Soap Opera Digest in 2023, “It was a wonderful eight years, and I wouldn’t change a thing.”
While deVry won’t be coming back to GH to play Julian, he has been busy with other projects. In his Instagram Reel, the actor shared that on September 29, Spill, a thriller in which he plays the role of Andy, will be released on Apple TV and Prime Video. Then, on October 10, he can be seen in the Lifetime movie of the week The Monster She Married, which also stars Matthew Morrison (ex-Adam Munson, As the World Turns). And in early November, deVry reported, “You can catch me on Tracker…. I play a bad guy on episode five of Season 4. We shot that here with Justin Hartley [ex-Adam Newman, The Young and the Restless] in Los Angeles.”
